Letter I sent to the Manager: I wish to express my sincere gratitude for all the generous assistance Aurora has provided me in taking care of my brother Joey. I can't tell you how truly difficult it has been to live 3000 miles away from my brother and be responsible for getting him the care he needs. My brother and I have no family left near by who can help us and so my brother depends solely on me for help and support. I have been coming out to visit my brother twice a year since he has taken residency with Brighton. Unfortunately, last year was the first year I was unable to visit my brother and it was a bit stressful for me not to see him. What gave me peace is knowing he is in good hands there with your staff. Aurora (social Counselor) and her staff have been a huge support in making my brother feel at home. In addition, to helping me provide my brother a wonderful birthday every year and wonderful care, they have always taken time out to do the small extra things that help me greatly. Aurora and the staff do things such as search for my brother when I attempt to call his cell phone and I am unable to reach him. I start to stress and worry about where he is or what he is doing. In order to put my mind at ease Aurora and her staff take time to reach back to me and let me know where he is and how he is doing. Aurora and her staff have always made me feel welcome when I phone and allow me to ask questions regarding anything pertaining to my brother and questions regarding your facility. I just wanted to reach out to let everyone know that Aurora and her entire staff does a wonderful job and I can't thank all of them enough for everything they do. My 91 year old grandmother was here for approximately 2 and a half weeks starting in February 2025, due to getting sick from the fires. I was at the facility DAILY, from 2 to 5 times a day. I would stay hours at a time as well. My observations and experience: ~staff is overwhelmed and have too high of nurse to patient ratio ~staff gets rotated to different rooms on different days, which makes it confusing for the clients having new nurses every day. My grandmother doesn't speak English, so I had to keep reteaching the new nurses for the day her needs and how she communicates what she needs. ~when staff morale is low (often), they are less consistent and persistent with quality care ~there was a mixup in the kitchen for two days, so my grandmother began receiving mushy food instead of solid food. She had no food restrictions. And she kept asking for snacks and food since she'd still be hungry until I realized the mushy food wasn't the normal meals. ~for the clients who need to be fed by a nurse (like my grandmother's roommate), the nurses don't feed them until all the food has been passed out and sometimes after doing other errands. By then, the food is cold, the client's have been waiting for such a long time while the food has been sitting open in front of them, unable to feed themselves. It is heartbreaking. I helped my grandmother's roommate multiple times with at least putting a straw in her juice to drink until a nurse comes to feed her, because she didn't have the mobility to even do that. *Nurses, I would like to remind you to please put yourselves in the patients shoes. I know it's hard considering your job and doing this daily. But think about what a personal and vulnerable thing it is to be fed by a stranger because you can't do it yourself (when you used to be able to). Please be patient, smile, and have compassion when feeding them. Sometimes this is the most attention and only visitor they had all day. ~some staff are friendly, nice, and want to help. But they are overwhelmed and spread thin ~it appears they have it scheduled 3 x a day to check and change the diapers of the clients (morning, afternoon, after dinner). If the client does not ask to be changed outside of these scheduled, they will not check and change the clients. Some patients don't realize they have urinated and therefore aren't able to inform the nurse to get changed, like my grandmother. I have walked into the room and there's a strong odor. Which results in UTIs, rashes, redness, etc. I had to advocate for my grandmother to be changed multiple times every day while I was there, and they usually came 20 to 45 minutes after my request to change her, with reminders. *Brighton needs to schedule in more diaper checks. I can hear and sympathize for you nurses: we don't have time and are bombarded with other tasks. I hear you. This is directed to BRIGHTON, not the nurses: BRIGHTON, SUPPORT YOUR NURSES AND PATIENTS WITH QUALITY CARE. HIGHER MORE NURSES AND DECREASE PATIENT TO STAFF RATIO. *Bring wipes for the nurses to help clean your loved one ~I requested a wheelchair since my grandmother wanted to go to the actual bathroom. IT SHOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT IN A NURSING FACILITY TO FIND A WHEELCHAIR. This was something that absolutely infuriated me. We waited for 30 minutes, as I asked for updates multiple times from nurses. They came back withOUT a wheelchair saying they can't find one/don't have one available. I became stern and assertive. A nurse brought a wheelchair 10 minutes later. ADVOCATE for your family members. ~Upon arrival, the EMT assertively told the staff to change and put clean sheets on my grandmother's bed before transferring her into the bed. Even thereafter, sometimes they brought dirty pillow covers and sheets. I would tell them it was dirty and to bring clean ones. Families looking for a nursing home for their loved one, reading my review may feel disheartening. Unfortunately, most nursing facilities are like this and even worse. I've seen worse. Which is why we went with Brighton. No matter which nursing facility you take your loved one (and if you're looking at facilities as this, I assume there is a limited budget and therefore you can't afford these lavish expensive nursing homes), please keep this in mind: No matter which nursing facility you pick, your loved one will need a visitor who will advocate for them daily. There are a number of staff members at Brighton that were warm, patient, and helpful with my grandmother, even when they weren't assigned to my grandmother that day. When these staff members were working that day, especially overnight, I would leave Brighton feeling comfortable that my grandmother is going to be cared for. In my experience, this is a very hard feeling to have regarding a nursing home. So any time I felt it, I was deeply grateful. Like most Nursing Care Facilities, Brighton Care Center is among the worst. The staff is under trained and obviously overwhelmed. The care is simply terrible. At one point, my husband was visiting the patient and, after asking several times for a nurse's assistance to change the bed which was soaking wet, he finally did it himself! The administrators promise to make things right but the staff actually doing the work are clueless. The patient (would prefer remaining anonymous) left in far worse condition than when he arrived. He lost at least 10 pounds in a short 2 weeks because he wasn't eating and nobody seemed to care. Until we finally complained, his clothes were not changed and he wasn't bathed. He was absolutely miserable there and we felt heartbroken at what he was experiencing. It was, quite frankly, appalling. And sadly, most of them are! read more

I was very concerned about my 98 year old mother being put into a Convalescent Facility for a few weeks to receive physical therapy after a bad fall. I was so pleasantly surprised by the care and compassion she received as well as EXCELLENT Physical Therapy!!! read more

We chose Brighton because it looked lovely and clean. Nancy, the social worker and Luis, the administrator, talk a good game until you realize that they tell you what you want to hear and then do what they want. In the first three weeks they lost most of my mother's clothes; I would visit to find her in rags; someone's old clothes. Then they lost her hearing aids and glasses. When I asked them to replace everything, they said no. They forgot to inventory her things when she arrived so they couldn't be sure of what she had. This is untrue. I had receipts for most of her clothes and all the nurses knew of her hearing aids and asked me where they were. My mother has only 25% of her sight and 40% of her hearing. Imagine how difficult it was for her not to have her glasses and hearing aids lost! Now understand that this is an out of pocket expense for an old woman with limited money. My mother was assaulted by someone on staff. They grabbed her arm and pinched her. My mother is 97 years old. Her arm was black and blue and swollen all the way and including her hand. They had no reporting procedure, and said she had dementia and the arm was caused by arthritis. Her CNA saw it but they moved her. At this point I was ready to move her but her insurance made a move prohibitive. We were stuck. I started coming every day or so and that's when more problems emerged. She was left to sit in her own urine. This resulted in severe uti infections which increased her dementia. Because the staff that worked with her was not consistent, they could not see her delusional behavior. I would see it but they ignored me as long as they could. I finally had to carry her myself to the car and take her to an outside doctor who confirmed my observations and the damage that resulted from her poor care. So much more happened, there is not enough room to explain everything. We scrounged together money and finally moved her to a Board and Care. I asked Brighton to tell us how to retrieve her special mattress. Luis response, The mattress is in our facility so it belongs to us. Interesting, as we have been renting it monthly from an outside provider. Everything I have shared is just a small part of what happened. My mother has been irreparably harmed. She will probably never walk again due to limited physical therapy and not walking due to their concerns with liability. Her cognitive ability has been greatly harmed. If only I could give them a minus rating... Absolutely no rehab... no toilet risers, no bedside commodes... only diapers! And the charge nurse says, when asked for anything, "We don't do that here." No ice packs for recent surgical incisions. No extra pillows to prop up legs to avoid possible blood clots, just rolled up towels... Screaming from rooms, constant hallway noises of pill carts being rolled over tile floors, repairs being made at night, employees going in and out every 15 minutes to laundry area, slamming door each time. There is no rest here, there are no tools to rehabilitate! I left AMA after 12 hours. It was truly "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". read more

My mother was there for short term rerehab as she had broken her hip. Upon admission, we checked with Nancy who was identified as an administrator because we have 2 full time caregivers for my Mom and wanted them to be able to be there for my Mom. Our daytime caregiver was there every day and we obtained permission from Nancy to have our nighttime caregiver there from Monday through Friday. All went well until Friday, November 15th when Cynn would not allow our nighttime caregiver to stay with my Mom. As a reminder, we had received approval from Nancy on the first day my Mom was there. Cynn threatened to call the police on our caregiver in spite of us having previous approval. This facility promises you things they cannot provide. Be safe, take your loved ones to another facility! read more

My grandfather came here after being at Huntington Memorial for a few days and boy what a night and day difference. The facility was chaotic with one of the patients falling out of her wheelchair and busting her head open. My 80 yr dad was sent here following a week stay at Huntington Memorial after breaking five ribs. The EMTs dropped him in his bed and that was it. The room was dirty, there were water leaks on the ceiling. The bathroom smelled like mold. My dad sat in there for 4 hours and was never once welcomed by someone. No one came in to say hi, here's what happens next etc. he was ignored. I went out to ask him for a walker so he could go pee. They said no, he's not allowed out of bed and they hand me a urinal. I asked about a nurse or someone to tell us what to do and they said well it's a shift change. I asked this a few times and got the same answer. Eventually I said it's been a shift change for three hours! At the three hour mark dad's pain meds were wearing off so I went back out again and said he needs his meds. They says "he doesn't get any meds until he's in the system on Monday". He came in on a Saturday. No pain or dementia meds!! Wtf?? Shortly after that another man was brought in just around dinner time. I had asked the nurse when dinner was and the answer was "when ever the kitchen cooks it". So my mom ran out to KFC and got food. When she got back a nurse came in with "dinner". A plate with a spoonful of mash potato and I kid you not something that looked like cat barf. She tells the poor guy who had been wheeled in that he would not get dinner tonight because "his diet wasn't in the system". When he said he had a regular diet she said too bad. So we shared our KFC with him. So that poor man wouldn't have gotten to eat! At the four mark of still nothing I pulled him out. They couldn't understand why I was willing to sign him out AMA. read more

A relative of mine stayed at Brighton for two weeks while recovering from hip surgery. The rehab team was great and dedicated to getting my grandmother walking again. John was able to answer all the questions we had with confidence. We had slight concerns about the aesthetics of the facility and were directed to the Administrator. He explained they are going through renovations of different amenities. The rehab team is wonderful, the renovations are going to elevate the facility, and the administrative team was very lovely. read more

My mom stayed here for a short time after leaving the hospital. The facility was clean and she was clean every time I visited her. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Calls about my mothers status were always returned in a timely fashion. The food is nursing home food, what can I say? My brother ate my moms food and he said it tasted ok. Thee worst experience EVER. Under NO circumstances allow yourself or family member to be admitted to this facility. I speak from experience. When I was there I was mistreated, told to shut up, left in wet bedding for 45 mins at least 3 times, improperly medicated. The food was always cold, when I was given something unrecognizable I stopped eating there food altogether and requested Raisin Bran 3 meals a day. This place is severely understaffed, the CNA goes on break even when they know the bed is soiled/wet. Don't cry even if you're in excruciating pain because CNA Comfort, yes that's her name, will tell you to shut up and stop crying. Woke up once screaming in pain the nurse that came to give me pain meds to me next time let her know before I try to adjust myself so someone could assist, even though I had told hery body jolted and I wasn't trying to adjust, I had a fractured spine. She indicated she heard me screaming but I still had to try and reach for the call string, no not a button, a string attached to the wall, and waited 10 min before the CNA came in, then another 10 min before the nurse came in with the medication. AVOID THIS HELL HOLE AT ALL COST. If I could remove the 1 star I would. read more

My dad was there for 5 days before being taken via ambulance to Huntington Hospital after his oxygen mask became dislodged and had not been noticed for an hour or so. Causing his oxygen level to drop to 40%. Never received a call from the facility that my dad was transported to Huntington hospital until I showed up 12 hours later and had to talk to several nurses to get information. this place was disorganized and lacked communication. Perhaps the worst of all was I had emailed the administrator, Brett, and received one short reply but had follow up questions which he choose to ignore and never reply to. They say the tone is set from the top and that was the case here after seeing the lack of communication from this staff member. Avoid this place if possible if attention to detail and your loved ones well being is important. I will say, there was staff that did care very well for my dad during his stay. Seems to be more of a management/organizational issue with their communication. read more

My uncle is convalescing​ here after hip surgery. There is only one phone for patient use. He is 92 years old and the drafts in his room are going to kill him. He has asked for extra blankets to no avail. Also, the food meant to be warm is cold - No tea available, just coffee - are you kidding me? HE IS 92 YEARS OLD and should be taken​ care of - that is why he is there. Elderly people notoriously​ die from pneumonia​ - I certainly hope he does not get sick. His wife, his 90-year-old​ sister and I are very worried about his well being. read more

Approximately two years ago, Huntington Memorial Hospital transported my mother to Brighton "Skilled" Nursing Center following treatment for a UTI. The reason for the transfer was so that she could undergo physical therapy, she remained there for 14 days, the maximum amount of time allowed by Secure Horizons. She was appointed sitters who remained with her 24 hours a day. The impression I got was this is a facility that provides beds to the infirm to generate profit. On the day she was admitted, the facility's social work advised me that she would create a plan for my mother's care after she was released from the nursing center. That was the first and final time I met with her. Secure Horizon's representative offered to refer me to a person who would locate an assisted living facility my mother could move to after being discharged. What we were subsequently referred to was a shoddy, dirty, and entirely miserable assisted living facility located in Burbank, California. The owner of the facility visited my mother at Brighton Skilled Center and told her the cost to live at his facility would be $1500 per month but a few days later, while touring the facility, we were told the cost is $2000 per month. In November 2019, my mother was again sent to Brighton Skilled Nursing Center. On the day of her arrival, inventory of her personal possessions was recorded and placed in her file. On the day she was released I noticed an expensive blouse and pair of pants were missing. I asked the nurses and aides and was told the clothes were probably taken to be washed but would probably never be recuperated. I contacted the facility's social worker who assured me a search would be conducted. A week later I called her to obtain status of the alleged search. She said the clothes could not be located and asked how I would like the situation rectified but quickly added, "We can't give you money to pay for the clothes." She said substitute clothing would be given to my mother but a month later, I still had not been contacted by what truly is That facility's totally useless & unprofessional social worker. I called again in December & January and was provided with trite assurances by the dull social worker. Brighton has very clean floors. Unfortunately, most of the the staff and useless social worker are devoid of all professional acumen. And be careful because as I've since learned, thievery is a common phenomena at Brighton. read more

My father was sent to Brighton Facility from Hunington Hospital after a minor heart condition/osteoarthritis and exhaustion. Upon arriving I had a very unusual feeling, (I knew this place was no good) patients in wheelchairs and walking looked sad and unhappy. I knew somthing was wrong, several elderly patients came up to me and told me they wanted out of there!!! At night patients were crying and screaming, one elderly lady screamed every night, "get me out of here!!" I stayed throughout the day until dinner time. The food was horrible (slop), I asked if they had a sandwhich my father could eat, they brought back a dry bologna sandwhich, no lettuce, tomatoe, no mayo. There was a huge language gap with the cna and nursing staff. When I asked for water they did not understand, I had to get a cup from the food tray and get the water on my own!! I came every day to check on my father; I found out they gave showers every three to four days my father had an odor, so I asked a staff to please assist him to the showers, she did not understand, I went to find the head nurse who told me she would try her best but they were short staffed. I had to constantly remind nursing staff to give him his medication on time. My father became so depressed he stopped eating/exercising and the best thing Brighton Facility could figure out to do was send him back to Hunington Hospital. Brighton is such a horrible place!! they did not want any liabilty issues. All of this going on while this so called social worker (blond hair) kept asking me my fathers exit date? This social worker was so unprofessional she kept complimenting my hair, my jewelry, trying to make small talk. I reminded this so-called social worker that it is protocol to conduct a exit meeting/treatment plan? I also reminded this unprofessional so-called social worker that my fathers exit date is not my desicion, the doctor is responsible for the exit date. At this point the social worker became extremely rude and made it her mission to device an exit date. I complained to Admin about all of these issues!!They gave me a social-worker that seemed to be more professional... I saw this social worker one time before they sent my father (in the middle of the night) to a horrible hospital in hollywood (Hollywood California Hospital!! Score is a 2 out of 10.) Brighton sent my father to a hospital wayyy in Hollywood. My father lives in pasadena? When I called Brighton in the morning they told me my father had been transferred to Hollywood California Hospital. I could'nt believe they did this!! my father is 78 yrs old, the ride alone put his health in jeopardy. This place is like the Facility stright out of a horror nigtmare!!! If you care anything about your elderly parents or relatives DO NOT SEND THEM TO BRIGHTON FACILITY!!!! When I found out I rushed to Hunington Hospital only to hear the doctor tell me nothing was wrong. Hunington Hospital sent my father back to the facility early the next morning because they found nothing wrong with him. read more

Think twice about sending your elderly loved one to this place. It is overcrowded and depressing. The owners/managers cut corners. There are 2 patients to a room. Two TVs, both with crappy antenna reception, (I saw what they charge Medicare/Insurance, they can afford a cheap cable package for the patients. Depending on where the room is in the facility, 4 patients can share a restroom. There are two showers for what looked to be somewhere around 100 patients. Belongings can go missing. I had my mom's iPad (which was logged in the belongings), and my RayBans go missing when I went to pick up her stuff, only to have them returned with no explanation of why they weren't with her stuff. Treatments are ordered, but not delivered. My mom needed breathing treatments for a nagging pnemonia-like symptoms. She was supposed to get 2 treatments. On her second stay there, (it was a long 3 week, 2 hospital, 2 stays at Brighton ordeal), I had to ask them to give her the treatments... these were in her chart, I might add. My mom ended up with a GI bleed on her second stay there. She told me that she was injected in her belly twice that night. The only medicine she was getting in her belly, as far as I know, was a blood thinner. I am not accusing anyone, but looking at how things were being run (all on paper), I wouldn't put it past them to have given her the blood thinner twice (but I'm just speculating with this one). The nurses, depending on the shift, will ignore calls, or ignore screams from patients. During my mom's first night at Brighton, a woman was screaming like she was being killed. My mom told me this went on for a long time. No one seemed to want to help her. Some of the staff were helpful. The receptionist remembered my name and said hello every time. The physical therapist (the one session my mom got... the whole reason why is too long and enraging to relate here), was very friendly and mom really liked him. But, all in all... Do not bring your elderly loved one to Brighton. If you can't help your loved one at home, there are options. Do your research. Skip this place. read more

My mother was alert, oriented and continent when she was admitted to Brighton for rehab. A week later, she developed edema blister in her buttock area because the staff were too lazy to toilet her. They simply put a brief on her and wouldn't change her for hours. read more

My husband Was there for post op rehabilitation. The facility is very clean. The CNA's are excellent. The nurses were good but for someone who had pain He was given his medication after pain had become really bad. He had to wait for a long time after calling nurse. All in all it was a good experience. read more

My dad had surgery and was sent to this place for Recovery as soon as I got there I went to the front desk and there was a reception talking to a lady. I was stand there for about 5 minutes and finally she turned her attention to me( the reception) and I told her why I was there and she started telling me where to go, the lady that she was talking to her Welcomed me to Brighton meaning that it was someone that work there and they were just having a personal conversation. Then I got to the room it was so tiny and they had 3 beds in there. There was a very small TV in the middle of the room. My dad's bed was a bed that was not a hospital bed but that they had added rails in the side to make it look like one. There was a fold up chair on the side of the bed that I'm sure that when you close the curtains there would be no room. They asked my dad is he had ate and he said no. They brought a disposable plates with some corn, coleslaw and a bolony with cheese sandwich wish did not look good at all. I told them that my dad could not get off the bed because he had had surgery, which they didn't know . Obviously they had not even read his discharged papers. There were people screaming, cussing and yelling. I understand it's a convalescent home but I started to cry. I couldn't leave my dad there. After telling them I was taking him home, I got attitude. There was a blond, blue eyes girl who I think might have been one of the people in charge that had an attitude, being very rude and speaking to me and looking in a different direction. I went to the counter and asked for a copy of my dad's discharged paper and a lady who I believe was in charge told the blond girl to make me a copy. She went into the next room.Following her went 2 other girls. Well it took them about 5 minutes while all this time I'm standing there, until the lady I believe is in charge told them not to have me waiting. That's when they all came out and gave me the copies. The only good things that could say of this place was a Latino young man that helped take me dad out on the wheelchair. Because while he was transferring my dad from bed to wheelchair the blond girl just stood there looking. I helped the young man. And she still didn't bother to do anything. Again sorry I didn't take his name but Thank You. This place need a big change. People are there because they are sick and ignoring them in not a good procedure for them . I think this place needs to evaluate and do surprise check so they could see how their staff really works. read more

We were considering this place for our father, however ended up going with another facility due to language barriers. However we were so well received and cared by Velia. She did not only assure us a spot for our father but kept checking in with us to make sure all was going well even after we indicated we had decided on another facility,. Brighton marketing lied to my family. They showed us a nice video on the facility. They told us that the rooms were recently remodeled. They told us that my father would have access to a nurse. However it turned out to be a big lie. The facility is short staffed, which left my father without the proper care. We worked tirelessly to get him out. I can go on and on with horror stories. The workers there work very hard. I am upset with the administration of the facility. They should stop trying to pocket the money that is given them through Medi-Cal or Medicaid and start providing the quality service they claim to provide to patients. My aunt was admitted for a left fracture hip to Brighton. I did not get a good feeling of camaraderie, professionalism, being genuinely friendly and no apology for charge nurse storming into room and yelling at the top of her lungs to the nurse assistant. I have sent a formal letter to adminstration considering the behavior of this nurse and re-training in leadership skills. Clearly, this needs to be addressed.These clients are already in a lot of pain and discomfort and this type of behavior does not help the situation at all. read more

This place is a dump, nasty filthy rooms, 4 patients have to share a nasty restroom, and there are only 2 showers on each side of the building that are being shared by all the patients in very unsanitary conditions, not enough staff, staff are not carrying. If I could give then negative 5 stars I would. If you or your family or loved ones are getting sent there, you better tour the place first and fight with your insurance to send you to a better facility. Patients sit under filthy conditions and the have to wait with soiled diapers and linens and they have to beg and wait up to 4 hours just to get any kind of help. The nurse call button goes unanswered for 15-20 minutes and like I mentioned above it takes a long while to get any help. I don't know how this place stays in business it should be shut down by the county. Terrible, filthy place, and they use their own staff to boost their poor reputation, take a look for your self, ask to see the rooms, restrooms, showers, floors, AC vents and overall conditions, no pictures are allowed to protect patients privacy. It's upgraded. The place is cleaner. They hired someone to be close to the entrance to help out. They answer the phone a little bit more. One of my older friends went there temporarily and was treated well. But I must say if your relative is unable to speak for him or herself, and although this place is getting way better, you will definitely have to advocate for your family member. read more

My Grandmother stayed here and thought it was great. She always said the staff was so nice and accommodating. Whenever I was there to visit I always thought it was a very clean facility and never had any complaints. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a clean, friendly, helpful place in the Pasadena area. read more

If you love your family member do not let Healthcare Partners send them here. All they care about is the money, and cut corners everywhere including the meals they serve their patients, I had to personally deliver lunch and dinner to my Father every day for 10 days because the food was simply disgusting to look at much less eat. The receptionists are unfriendly, rude and so engrossed in their cellphones that any patient can walk out unnoticed (unless tagged with a security bracelet/anklet). The on site Doctor, Nursing staff, social workers & mid level management are unprofessional & clueless, so called weekly meetings with family members never happen, the doctor never returns calls, the communication between staff members non existent. Nurses rather sit around and chat amongst themselves than tend to patients and family members that have questions. They are lazy and put patients in diapers so they don't have to bother helping them to the restroom. Literally saw a nurse walk by a patient in distress, she looked in and kept walking, twice! while the patient screamed for help. I almost went in to help but she passed by a third time, I made myself known, and saw me and went to the patient. Management is by far the worst because they do not address your concerns or respond to complaints. I filed a complaint and was told the manager, I believe his name is Brett, was on vacation but would return in 1 week. I expressly requested that he call me upon his return, he never called. Never received any sort of acknowledgement in writing or verbal that my complaint was filed or addressed. Neither Healthcare Partners nor Brighton care about your family member, all they care about is cutting costs and saving money, not the patient and certainly not quality of care. While there, met another family who pulled their loved one out just after a couple of days due to injury to the patient and management's disinterest to investigate what happened and address their serious complaints. The only decent folks seemed to the physical therapists, and the CNA's that get stuck with all the dirty work, CNA's are friendly seem to enjoy their work and engage with the patients more than the doctors and nurses there, but I do feel they require a bit more medical training. I know it's hard to leave a loved one in a nursing home, scary to think of the things that go on behind our backs, if you love them DO NOT LEAVE them here. read more

DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS STAY HERE! This place should be closed down! My mom was here for 2 days before we moved her to another facility! In the 2 days that my mom was here, they would hide her call button, they woke her at 1 am. for a catheter urine sample, she caught pneumonia, they would not give her pain meds for hours after she requested them, the head nurse apologized for mixing my mom's chart with another patient. The doctor would take her vitals but not examine her, we had to point out serious issues such as her coughing which was pneumonia. My mom had an astomy bag and the nurse confessed that that was her first time changing one. The medication nurse was yelling one day and saying she was so stressed out that she was going to quit. We met several other families that had serious complaints as well. I feel for the patients that do not have a family to look out for them. We looked at the reviews and were against bringing my mom here, however, the doctor at Huntington Memorial knows the doctor at this facility and highly recommended it. Don't let the one star review fool you, they don't deserve it. read more

We toured three care centers in Pasadena before selecting Brighton and overall were very happy with the facility, OT and PT groups, less satified with nursing/medical side. Our family member was recovering from some back/pelvic fractures and had to keep an eye on a few connected medical issues. We had rotating family there every day, couple times a day during the ten day stay and had to regularly remind the nursing station of treatments, medication needs. Despite pain medication clearly outlined it was not done in a timely manner creating stress. Breathing treatments outlined 4x daily were very inconsistent too. As is often the case, the orders between the hospital that suggested a stay at care center and the orders within the care center didn't mesh well. Our patient was able to speak up and we advocated which was critical on the "medical" side. The OT team was GREAT... personable and really committed to increased mobility and independence. The facility was bright, airy and always clean. read more

My family member came here after a Cervical Discectomy with Fusion of C5-C6 of the Spine. The therapists and nurses were excellent. I have to say this was the first Skilled Nursing Facility I had ever been in that was kept in pristine condition. Super Clean, free from foul odors and everyone treated us with respect and courteousness. read more

Let me start by saying I was told that this facility had recently been remodeled and was very nice. Correct, visually it's one of the nicer looking places...and that's it. My mom was there for 2 weeks and literally there was new staff there everyday. No on seemed to know what they were doing. Unsure about the medication and to get anyone to change her was hard because they were so short staffed. The facility isn't in the best area and they were always men standing around the front area that looked suspect. Doors were never locked. My mom sliding glass door unlocked. The beds in the rooms and the furniture in the rooms are VERY old and not in the best condition. Room floor weren't cleaned. It's very noisy with other patients yelling and rolling around in their wheelchairs cursing each other out. The food is not fit for a human being to eat. It looked like slop. A patient had fallen out of the bed and was there all night until the morning nurse found her. This place was a complete nightmare for us. Please do not send your loved one to Brighton. read more

My 72 year old friend was admitted post-surgery for a shattered elbow. On the plus side, it is an extremely clean facility. It took me awhile to locate my friend because there is no reception/sign in area at the main entrance. It also appeared to be short-staffed. I managed to flag down an aide who, upon request, provided my friend with non-skid footsies. There are no phones or chairs in the rooms. A cell phone was given to me from the nurse's station, but I had no luck calling out. I managed to find a folding chair and brought it in the room myself. The patient bathrooms have no individual tubs or showers. They have to go to another location, past private rooms. Prescribed meds were not given even after my friend had been there nearly 24 hours. The whole experience for me was "you're on your own." If it weren't for the one helpful aide, I would give this facility a 1 rating. As long as my friend remains there, I intend to visit regularly to make sure her care is better handled. read more

We had a great experience while our father was at Brighton. The admissions process was very easy, the administrators were all very attentive to our needs and they made sure we had any and all questions answered. My father was very pleased with literally all of the staff that looked after him including nurses and therapists and utility maintenance types. I was concerned that the great service might end once my dad was admitted but that was definately not the case. The consistency of good care was probably the most impressive part of our experience with Brighton. The committment from the staff and administrators never lessened even after my dad had been there for a couple of months. I'm very happy that we found Brighton and i would recommend it to anyone. Only reason i left one star off was because the facility is a bit older and the general population includes some interesting characters, but these are minor issues, and i wish i could give the place 4.5 stars. read more

After our mom fell and broke her hip we were hesitant to place her in a skilled nursing facility. You always hear horror stories and never think a place can give the care you believe your loved one deserves. Brighton is the furthest thing from horror story. I was blown away by their first class service. When we admitted her we had a lot of questions. All of our questions were answered with ease and assurance to our complete satisfaction. The welcome was so warm and friendly, and wasn't too time consuming. Our mom's room was nice, clean and smelled fresh. They gave my mom a nice little welcome package of some supplies she might need. Over time spent there we have noticed; all of the staff, although busy, had smiles, patience and kind words. Some of the staff have even remembered my name on return visits. I keep waiting for complaints from our mom, but she assures us she is happy and comfortable. We've enjoyed using their wonderful concierge service...it let's us know our mom has some home comforts by delivering her favorite dish from Green Street Cafe. They offer a lot of other services too help her feel comfortable and at home. We are blessed to have ended up here at Brighton Convalescent! read more
