Going on my third set of PT sessions (of 6). Xio, Raul & Rico have been absolutely wonderful so far. Their knowledge and assessments are spot on. I've been able to learn about myself with them so I can work on healing and head in a positive direction. I was honestly feeling really hopeless before Xio and now I can see what a great therapist can do for you. The journey is long and it takes a lot of effort from all aspects of your life, your mind and your body. Everything is truly connected and all impacts your movement and how you heal. Take nothing for granted & really appreciate the efforts from Mission District Therapy. read more

Raul is a master physical therapist. I came to him 12 years after a long period of overwork left me totally disabled and unable to find someone who could help me. Raul understood right away and devised an approach. Progress has been slow and steady. Under Raul's guidance and with the work of his awesome team, now 2+ years after beginning treatment, I have improved WELL beyond expectations. I continue to be beyond impressed with the depth and breadth of Raul's knowledge and expertise, and the commitment and quality of the work of William and Rico. Vilna at the front desk is always warm and helpful. I cannot recommend Raul and Mission District Therapy highly enough. read more

I have had a lot of surgeries. and I have continuing pain in my shoulder. Manuel is helping with that now. Manuel is by far my favorite physical therapy therapist and I have lost count of other ones over the years. They don't have the machines like the hospital therapy has. Manuel, however is gifted and if you can be helped, you will heal here. I have never had a physical therapist like him. He is some kind of angel. His kindness is amazing. In addition to having me do various exercises, he does hands on work. I trust him completely. This is a man who has gone to treat people in multiple latin American countries for peanuts or nothing if they had nothing. The US and especially in SF Is too expensive for that. Good news- he takes insurance. My co-pay is 35 dollars. The woman at the front desk is polite and efficient and she always remembers me. Find that in a hospital, HA! No way. Manuel works with a trainer. I am forgetting names a lot lately and I am blanking on his name. He is very kind and he does the showing exercises that Manuel asks him to do. He never makes me feel bad or stupid when I have trouble doing an exercise or understanding it. I never see any frustration on his face or with his words. Mission District physical therapy is a warm place and Manuel is very knowable and does excellent work. Of course, you also you also have to follow through with the home exercises and stretching assigned. I hope you give this business a try and be open to it looking differently than hospital ones or fancy ones. He can help you recover from most injuries. Don't be rude because nobody there is ever rude. Happy healing! read more

Raul is one of the best PTs that I have known. He is skilled, kind, and a true healer. I have gone to him for my own treatment and have referred patients to him including my own family members, who travel far and wide to see him. I really love the staff here at Mission Physical therapy. I had a total knee replacement surgery. The staff really knows there stuff. I mean everyone from Velma and Emma at the reception desk. You have Raul the top dog Physical therapist. Liz the therapist that I have been working with is fantastic! When she doesn't have an answer she goes to Raul. You also have Rico and Will. Great people to work with and get you back on the road! read more

Raul is a true healer! I came to him after having a second shoulder surgery ( Bony Bankart Repair and Remplissage). It was a sophisticated surgery due to devastatingly dislocating my shoulder after the first surgery. I am lucky that I had a great doctor (Robert Purchase) to fix me up the second time around. Note: I wrote a review for Dr. Purchase if you're looking for a shoulder surgeon. Anyways, I heard that surgery is only 25% of the recovery. The other 75% is diligently sticking to your PT treatments. I knew that PT would be equally important to my recovery as the surgery itself (if not more important), so I took a lot of time searching for a Physical Therapist. I chose Raul for the same reason I chose Dr. Purchase. I needed a Physical Therapist with good reviews, and plentiful knowledge on shoulders. Though the most important thing I was looking for was a Therapist willing to spend more time with me -- a more personal Therapist. God willing, Raul is who I found. Another Note: I'd previously went to GSports Physical Therapy in the financial district after my first surgery. They have great facilities and great staff. Though they are more like a factory. They have around 5 Physical Therapists there (mostly younger). My Physical Therapist at the time was only a few months out of school. Not to say that would always be the case, but Raul has been in practice for 35 years, far longer than any of the therapists there. Like I mentioned in the note above, Raul has been in practice for over 35 years. You can tell this when he starts working with you. He has the finesse of a very experienced practitioner. He is a very nice and charming guy. He also takes time to explain to you why he is doing things. I'm a few weeks into Physical Therapy, but comparatively, I can tell Raul is the man! Looking forward to more of his healing powers. read more

So far so good. Raul is an amazing PT. He's smart, a hard worker, cares about his patients & wants to serve the mission population & help make the neighborhood nicer. That being said, the place is not glamorous but certainly has everything you will need for PT! Appointments almost always begin 10-15 mi s after your scheduled time but they definitely spend as much time as possible with their clients. I think everyone who works there is bilingual so this is def a great option if Spanish is your first language. read more

I had seen three MD's, a well-respected holistic doctor, four CMT's, and a certified chiropractor before coming to see Raul. Many had given me relief from my RSI (wrists), but none so thoroughly and consistently as has Raul. Some of the stretches and exercises I had been doing were actually counterproductive. Raul set me on a surprisingly effective regimen. Go describe your symptoms. The more he talks about what is happening with your body and how best to go about the healing process, the more you start to understand how vast his knowledge of the body and all its interconnected parts is. read more

Raul and his staff are extremely courteous and helpful. I visited Mission District Therapy for about two months to treat nerve issues in my neck and shoulder that caused a lot of pain and restricted movement. Raul taught me techniques to increase strength and flexibility and also explained what types of movements to avoid (e.g. for nerves, stretching and massaging actually makes it worse). It is obvious Raul is very knowledgeable - his decades of experience is very evident! In a very short time, I am almost 100%. Feels great! By the way, I have discovered for best results you should combine physical therapy with acupuncture sessions - trust me!!! For a great acupuncturist I recommend Sascha at Tree of Qi Acupuncture Clinic. Check my review of this place as well. And it's only two blocks from Mission District Therapy. read more

Raul is a master. He is a kind and gentle man with a very skilled hand. He can help when other physical therapists can't, drawing from an enormous body of knowledge and experience all over the world. Seriously, I find this place so soothing I look forward to going there just for the atmosphere... it looks and smells like the 1970s. Not outdated, just similar to the image I have in my mind. A calmer, slower paced era. I know this probably does not make sense. Regardless - you should go here when other physical therapists have failed you! Also, next door is an amazing rotisserie. High five! read more

Absolutely Amazing!!! I broke my ankle approximately 4 years ago (2nd time, same ankle) and of course I didn't follow directions, so here I am with a "damaged" ankle. Enter Raul... he has taken so much time to help get my ankle looking and functioning back to "normal". He has also helped get my hip flexors, quads and core aligned. I love that there are no "fancy" machines and they show you how to do exercises at home or while waiting in line at Costco :) The staff is fantastic! Andres will always welcome you with a smile, Rico will handle you with care and Raul, his hands are nothing less than MAGICAL!!! I'm uncertain I will ever be in a stiletto again, however, a wedge is now possible! Mil Gracias Raul!!! read more

I got into a car accident late last year where my car was "totaled" (according to the insurance company), but I made it out OK. I visited a doctor and who referred me to this place for my back issues after the accident. Raul and his staff are really helpful. With some therapy and exercises, my back was back to feeling good as it was before the accident. They also gave me some practical advice to proper posture to avoid future back issues and exercises to help strengthen my back and core areas. I am glad my insurance let me choose this place and pay for it. read more

I have a mild case of rotator cuff trouble in my right shoulder. I was able to get an appointment here readily, and the office is in my neighaorhood. Another place near me had a wait and did not accept insurance. So I decided to give this service a try. Mr. Caimanque is a kind, seasoned, lowkey, astute diagnosticion, who assessed me on the first visit. I could tell I was in experienced hands, and had complete confidence in him. He gave me exercises to do. They were easy early on, and got gradually more demanding. He passed me on to his colleague there, Will, who is younger, and a pleasant guy who gave me a workout! I saw him for several weeks, and got everything I needed to strengthen my shoulder muscles. More importantly, Will taught me the importance of posture, something that had gotten slack after years of working at a computer terminal. I feel great from my exercise regimen and I do it about four days a week now. I think everyone could benefit from physical therapy and I highly recommend this office. read more

This is a great little physical therapy clinic hidden in the heart of the Mission. I send most of my spine patients here after their procedures or surgeries. The staff and therapists are bilingual. Raul, the director, has over twenty years of experience in therapy and has a wealth of information. They also have a deep commitment to the community. Raul and most of his staff devote much time and money to Operation Rainbow which brings free surgeries to children in third world countries. read more

I was recommended by my Ortho DR. to go to this office due to sciatic issues as well as knee pain. I think all the PT's there are great and it is a well run operation. Both of my issues, while not completely resolved (no fault of theirs) subsided with therapy. The office staff is nice, professional and helpful and you are seldom late starting your appointment. The only reason it isn't getting 5 stars is it is the first and only physical therapy office I've been to so I can't judge it against others (for aesthetics, location, etc). However, the office seemed appropriate for the job at hand. read more

I've been coming to see Raul (and his former aide Rene) for a torn ACL and Meniscus and my experience has been nothing short of spectacular. Raul spends so much time hands on with his patients and genuinely knows the ins and outs of the body. The location is a small office without all the bells and whistles of big establishments, but he does this intentionally so instead of putting patients on machines and home gym type equipment, he stands with you and physically provides the resistance for your exercises so he can watch you the whole time. Of the 7 or 8 therapists I've seen, Raul is by far the best. read more

i LOVE this place. Everyone here is caring, warm, and knows what they are doing. The office is pleasant and everyone is always smiling, laughing, and telling jokes. But they take healing very seriously here! I am currently treating with them for hip pain/involvement caused by walking too long on a foot with a chip fracture. Raul and Rene have years of experience under their belts, and it shows. throughout my treatment, they have explained, in very easy to understand detail, what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how it connects with every other part of my body. I will actually be sad not to see them after i'm better! read more

I've been coming here for several weeks now since having knee surgery, and must say that I have been extremely gratified with the quality of care, attention to my needs/progress, and the general positive energy of the people and environment throughout my time here. René and Raul in particular have been fantastic partners/mentors/teachers/trainers throughout the rehab process. I'm now well on the road to recovery, and I hope therefore that I won't be a client much longer, but these have been some fantastic therapists, neighbors, and friends. read more

I needed some urgent PT after a long run. I rang many PT's and they could not get me in until the following week. Mission Therapy got me in the next morning. Rual was wonderful and friendly and very knowledgable. He fixed me up right away! read more

Raul and Will have both been very helpful in identifying imbalances that are at the root of my hip and back pain. They do a great job helping you stretch areas that are excessively tight and strengthen areas that are under-developed. You come out of the sessions with less pain and a stronger, more flexible and balanced body that will hopefully keep you pain free for a long time to come. read more

As a new guitar student, I developed finger joint problems that were exacerbated from a neck injury that occurred 15 years ago. Raul was recommended by another PT. During this single therapy session, Raul identified the cause of my symptoms and provided "easy to follow " home exercises. Over the past several months, I have diligently followed the exercises prescribed and was able to resume my guitar studies uninterrupted. My specific injury did not require any additional visits. I highly recommend Raul and his entire professional and courteous staff. read more

Very experienced, very personable. I never felt rushed and most of of they want to get you better.

This is the place to go if you need physical therapy after an injury! Everyone is so nice and helpful. I would refer my best friend here, in fact I did. The front desk does all your scheduling and insurance paperwork so all you have to do is your exercises. The physical therapists here are top notch and know everything there is to know about all kinds of injuries. The sessions are one on one so you get the physical therapist's complete attention. You will feel so much better after your first session you won't believe it. It is on bus and BART lines. If you drive street parking is easy. What more can I say. Mission District Therapy is the best! read more

I feel soooo much better today! Raul Caimanque is a true healer!!! I've been coming to Mission District Therapy for 4 years now for treatment of osteoarthritis of my hip. I was only 53 yo when I first started to come to MDT for PT rx. I was in severe pain at that time hobbling around with a cane (bad optics for a 53yo lifelong runner). I was told by 2 surgeons then that I had osteoarthritis due to femoral acetabular impingement and would need a hip replacement. It was important for me to delay hip surgery as long as possible. I have been going see Raul biweekly since than and he has helped me to delay a hip replacement while also enabling me to stay active with minimal discomfort and no cane!!! (eg, hiking, biking, lifting weights and walking 3 dogs...). I will finally undergo hip surgery in a few months, but I look forward to a great outcome with Raul's help! Thank you Raul!!!! read more

Good people. Helped my elbow. Definitely recommend them for any Physical Therapy needs. Raul is very polite and knowledgeable.

Best physical therapy!! I had lower back pain for 1 year, I could hardly move at one point without sharp pains, and I really thought that I would have to live with it - until I started coming here. They know what they're doing, they knew exactly what the problem was, and after 6 sessions I'm starting to feel much better. I can now move in ways that I couldn't in over a year. I highly recommend this place, it's awesome. Plus, they are professional, understanding, and very friendly. read more

I've been coming here since December 2013. I first started having therapy with Raul after I had to switch days and I met Rene. I must say I never had a dull visit. The beautiful ladies at the front desk were very pleasant. Rene has really helped me to get my knee back in motion. He taught me a lot of exercises. I was able to do them at home and at the gym. When I went for my regular Doctor's visits , my Doctor told me I was doing better and I told him that "Mission District Therapy" was a great place for therapy. I will recommend to the staff of the San Francisco Unified School District know that they come to this clinic for physical therapy and rehabilitation. read more

Even Emily and Socorro at the front desk are awesome! read more

A definite 5 stars. This place is a hidden gem. As an elite athlete, I truly appreciate this place. From day one, I was treated with incredible care. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. Raul examined my knee so thoroughly, with such incredible attention to detail- much different then many of the athletic trainers, physical therapists that I have delt with in the past. I could tell Raul was special from the start. He continued to treat me with such care. He has given me exercises that have helped tremendously with the pain but more importantly has taught me the proper mechanics to help me realign my knee, allowing me to feel better then ever. As a result I am able to continue competing diving at a very high level. His explanations are always so specific, allowing me to understand everything in full depth. Raul is so knowledgable, friendly, and has a genuine passion for helping people. I am so thankful to have found this spot and highly recommend it to all looking for PT that truly fixes the pain. read more

Mission District Physical Therapy is the place to go for whatever rehab your body needs. After a devastating injury I was left with no alternative but to slow down and allow time and hard work to take over amongst other things that can't really be defined by words. Once I surrendered or shall I say everyday I had to surrender to this debilitating joint we call the knee my progress was slow to come but came with everyday I woke to face. Anyways, before I get to into the melodrama allow me to thank those who saw me week in and week out over a course of half a year plus. Jill, Raul. Rene, Socorro, and Christian gave me their best which allowed me to give my best week after week. Thanks everybody! Anytime anyone ever asks where to get quality PT I send them your way. Not just because you're competent, caring, nice, and professional which are all good reasons in and of themselves to go but because you do such an extraordinary job treating your patients like human beings no matter what. Gracias por todo y que Dios les bendiga! read more
