I was back to exercising regularly and playing volleyball in March. It wasn't until May that I found out I had a hairline fracture and bone bruising through MRI because I was still complaining about pain. I was told by the orthopedic doctors and a podiatrist that I needed surgery for my ankle, but I ultimately didn't want to do that. I didn't like any of the PTs that were in my area and in-network. I found Dr. Jay by chance--a simple yelp search and I found out he was walking distance from me. I dm'd him, back in December, my history and asked if surgery was the only way to go, and he responded pretty quickly that he's had the same injury and was able to get back into sports without going under the knife. After talking to Dr. Jay via zoom, I was convinced that he was gonna be the one to help me regain strength and mobility in my ankle. Dr. Jay is very knowledgeable, he'll breakdown the anatomy and physiology so you know what's happening with your body, and he'll teach you the right mechanics for the exercises. He also went over types of shoes I should be wearing during different types of exercises which is important because the shoes I wore were affecting my ankle and foot mobility. Dr. Jay doesn't just treat the symptom, he treats you as a whole because everything in the end is all connected. Dr. Jay will create workout routines that are suitable for you, and will tailor it based on your needs, such as what gym you go to/equipment you have. Send videos and updates on your workouts/daily activities so you can get his feedback, and he can tweak exercises/give you tips on what you can do in those exercises to reduce pain. One thing I needed to learn was that I didn't have the same capacity for load as I did pre-injury, and that I needed to not overdo it on exercises even though, mentally, I felt like I could do more. "When strain exceeds capacity, leads to negative adaptations. When strain stays right below capacity, positive adaptations. Learn through mistakes, and learn quickly on how to find the right amount." I'm very hard on myself, especially when training declined due to illness, holidays, vacations, and or pain (due to overloading/wearing too rigid shoes). Dr. Jay stayed positive and continued to encourage me. He reminded me that we are not perfect, and it is okay to take breaks. Dr. Jay's program gave me the structure, guidance, and motivation I needed to get back to running and jumping without fear. He's helped me gain the knowledge and confidence to get back on the court. Will definitely recommend Dr. Jay to anyone I know who's dealing with chronic pain and willing to put in the work!

He has made me a believer in the power of strength training with proper nutrition. Since I started with him, my pain has improved significantly and I am hopeful that it will eventually go away. More importantly, he has transformed me from a lazy, fearful and unhealthy individual to a significantly more confident person who genuinely looks forward and eating healthy. For that, I am eternally grateful.

She is a Physical Therapist with decades of…read moreexperience, and she brings a level of knowledge, confidence, and compassion that's hard to find. I have seen Wendy Richardson several times in the last few years. The first time was during Covit and I remember that even though we were both wearing masks, from the moment I walked into the office, I felt welcomed and at ease. She is friendly, and the whole office has a calming atmosphere. What really impressed me is how thorough she is. She took the time to review my history, explain what was going on, and then tailored a treatment plan that made sense. In the last few years she has helped me with several issues that came up, arm mobility and scar tissue after surgery, low back pain, foot pain from cycling and lately whiplash. She always takes the time to really understand the root of the problem. Her evaluations are thorough, and the treatment plan is always clearly tailored to me. She always explains every exercise and technique, making sure I understand the purpose behind it and many times would send a video via email so I can go to If I forget how to practice the exercise at home. She always gives practical home exercises and adjustments that make a big difference in the healing process. I also appreciate the tips on posture and stretches that I can do at home. Wendy is an expert on what she does and her magic hands always provide the first step in the healing process. You can tell Wendy truly cares about her patients and takes pride in helping people get back to living pain-free. Thanks to her experience, guidance and treatment I always end up pain free by the final visit If you're looking for a physical therapist who is knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in your recovery, look no further than Wendy Richardson!

Had I found her sooner, she would have cut down my recovery by months. She had great insight, input, exercises and spent the time manually working on me, rather than having me do my "at-home" exercises for 30 minutes - like other places did. That was important to me because I can do exercises at home but I can't do the mobility work of a PT. For example at Peninsula Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center in Daly City, 60 min looked like 8 min of PT manipulation, 30 min exercise you did on your own and 15 min stem. No wonder, I made very little progress. Wendy was hands-on, making a huge impact on my recovery. Should I need a PT in the future, I will most definitely go see Wendy!

Then we spent time working on other exercises (that I thought I knew how to do) and he helped me develop the intuition that I need to prevent future injuries. Steve is a fantastic listener and has a keen eye for form + biomechanics. He's able to listen to all of my complaints, synthesize them into a hypothesis, and then test my movements to confirm his suspicions. He's also can do massage + chiropractic adjustments to provide pain relief -- which definitely came in handy quite a few times. I'm SO happy I made the choice to work with Steve. I'm completely pain free + and feeling much stronger than I was when I started and am more confident than ever that I'll be able to continue reaching for my fitness goals while staying healthy.

Over the course of ~six sessions, Steve not only helped reduce the pain in my shoulder but also uncovered a number of subtle ergonomic habits I had while working that were likely contributing to my shoulder and neck issues. As someone who strength trains regularly, I was initially worried that I'd be sidelined for a long time. Steve quickly eased those concerns by incorporating lifting-specific assessments and adjustments into our sessions, making sure I wasn't aggravating my injury and could return to training safely. He paid close attention to my form, explained the reasoning behind each exercise, and gave me practical guidance I could apply both in the gym and at my desk. This was my first time working with a physical therapist, and Steve set the bar incredibly high. His knowledge, thoughtful approach, and ability to tailor treatment to my specific lifestyle made a real difference in my recovery. I highly recommend him to anyone dealing with an injury--especially if you want a PT who understands the demands of strength training and everyday movement habits.
