They are not only highly skilled in their professions but are caring and patient and - together with their staff - create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. When I first went to see them, I had a terrible problem that prevented me from using my arm normally and doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong or what had caused it. I feel like Karen saved me. A few years later, I hurt my foot and could barely walk on it without pain. As an avid hiker and walker this was a nightmare. I went to a podiatrist who wasn't helpful at all. I went to see Brenda and she explained what was going on in detail (something I couldn't get from the podiatrist), and was able to calm the injury through direct treatment and exercises and eventually prescribed custom orthotics and restored my ability to hike again. Through some of the worst of the above I was also suffering from financial hardship and Karen & Brenda made some generous concessions to help me. I will be forever grateful to them for that and their wonderful care.

Starting after the 19 spine procedures with a prognosis of paralysis by 2007; nope! And yes, still doing Karen's exercises today. Then a torn bicep tendon reattached 12 years ago, and with Karen's brilliant work, 100% strength and extension. Then in 2019 I tore multiple tendons, muscles, and ligaments in my shoulder in a skating accident. Completely re-built shoulder in surgery. Once again, Karen helped me regain strength and mobility and today (at 64yrs of age) I'm doing 45 pushups and 10 pull-ups in an "L" along with my Physical Therapy exercises. Karen is an absolute genius when it comes to Physical therapy.

I am also a Pilates instructor of 18 years specializing in hypermobile people and rehab post physical therapy. Front desk dosnt say hello. Not once in three in office visits. My personal pet peeve. She is deeply uninterested in the customer service side of her job. Sets a tone of "we don't give a crap that you're here" as soon as you walk in. The first person I saw could not explain to me what he wanted in a way I could Understand. He gave me a whole book of an exercise protocol but not which exercises to do or how to do them as he would like. I was lost a demoralized and my body felt worse. Then I saw someone who may have been one of the higher up pt people in the practice. She sat in the waiting room training the new front desk girl and complaining about how bored she was until my session started. she accompanied what I assume to be a newer pt into my session. She then explained to me basic postural principles until I stopped her and told her she was wasting my time because as I mentioned before, I'm a Pilates instructor. This visit was a bit better. But not by much. I at least got a couple exercises they wanted me to do and I think I understood how to do them. The next time I came in, no bored pt. Just the new pt. And she proceeded to suggest all the exercises I'm already doing that aren't helping. And then she did some muscle activation work that I still couldnt really feel. At one point I asked her why we were squeezing a ball and she said for your pelvic. When I asked, My pelvic what? She was unable to tell me what she thought the exercise was doing aside from bringing to pelvis to neutral. This dosnt make a ton of sense to me. So I asked for more. She didn't have it. Her inability to articulate the goal of the exercise to me worried me enough not to come back. I had really high hopes for this place. I tried to communicate that I needed their eye on my form because I can't tell what I'm doing wrong. I don't know if the believed me because I had to work very hard to get them to tell me wha they saw in my muscle engagement or alignment. I felt unheard and unwelcome for each and every one of my four visits.

I have seen Wendy Richardson several times in the last few years. The first time was during Covit and I remember that even though we were both wearing masks, from the moment I walked into the office, I felt welcomed and at ease. She is friendly, and the whole office has a calming atmosphere. What really impressed me is how thorough she is. She took the time to review my history, explain what was going on, and then tailored a treatment plan that made sense. In the last few years she has helped me with several issues that came up, arm mobility and scar tissue after surgery, low back pain, foot pain from cycling and lately whiplash. She always takes the time to really understand the root of the problem. Her evaluations are thorough, and the treatment plan is always clearly tailored to me. She always explains every exercise and technique, making sure I understand the purpose behind it and many times would send a video via email so I can go to If I forget how to practice the exercise at home. She always gives practical home exercises and adjustments that make a big difference in the healing process. I also appreciate the tips on posture and stretches that I can do at home. Wendy is an expert on what she does and her magic hands always provide the first step in the healing process. You can tell Wendy truly cares about her patients and takes pride in helping people get back to living pain-free. Thanks to her experience, guidance and treatment I always end up pain free by the final visit If you're looking for a physical therapist who is knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in your recovery, look no further than Wendy Richardson!

She had great insight, input, exercises and spent the time manually working on me, rather than having me do my "at-home" exercises for 30 minutes - like other places did. That was important to me because I can do exercises at home but I can't do the mobility work of a PT. For example at Peninsula Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center in Daly City, 60 min looked like 8 min of PT manipulation, 30 min exercise you did on your own and 15 min stem. No wonder, I made very little progress. Wendy was hands-on, making a huge impact on my recovery. Should I need a PT in the future, I will most definitely go see Wendy!

Colleen works with me to find the best solution, tailoring her approach rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. They're usually very punctual and quick with treatment. Note that the office is on top of a hill though so depending on your injury you may have to take that into consideration. My pro tip is to work things out clearly with your insurance before you see them. Their office uses a more old school system and I don't think they can see the insurance information immediately. Subsequently, I went for acupuncture recommended by a collogues which was calming, did not resolve my pain of several months. Concerned about not having a pain resolution I searched for a physical therapist. I reviewed Yelp and discovered Holly was located in my San Francisco's Potrero Hill neighbor, literally 8 blocks from my home. We connected online to set up an initial appointment. Holly conducted an assessment of my condition and determine my sciatica was the cause for the pain and discomfort. Once I had the diagnosis, we discussed my treatment plan over the next few months. Holly treatment was very successful in resolving my pain. As a result of Holly's deep physical therapy on my right thigh and hip area along with at home exercises she provided.
