He has great ideas and isn't afraid to tell you if something you want to do isn't necessarily worth the expense (which we very much appreciated). They delivered high-quality work that leveraged their knowledge and expertise to ensure our new space was functional and beautiful. Some things you look for in a general contractor and rarely find are the ability to stay close to budget and timelines, and Jim and his team did both of these! Jim does a thorough of a job putting designs/estimates together, and the only change order we had (that wasn't scope creep on our part) was for some poor electrical a previous owner did that Jim couldn't have anticipated. In addition, Jim keeps your project moving. We rarely went two days without someone at the house making progress on our project; there were no extended delays due to materials or labor issues. Jim and his team also excel at problem solving. Every project has hiccups along the way, but every issue is tackled and Jim won't stop until the solution works for you. As an example, we were having trouble matching the color of some new hardwood floors to older, existing floors in the house. He helped us put down 16 stain samples and promised we would keep trying until we got it right (and we finally did!). It was very clear our happiness was extremely important to him. If you are looking for a contractor who is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, efficient, affordable, and fun to work with, Independent Remodeling is who you should work with. It's hard to find a company you would want to use a second time, but Jim will be the first person we call for future projects in our house, and who we will recommend to friends and family if they are looking to complete a project in their home.

I'm glad that we called In & Out Restoration because Angelo and John gave us a clear, accurate estimate and got the work completed quickly and professionally. I say that we initially had trouble finding a company to do the work, not because no one wanted our business but because other companies wanted us to sign contracts that would empower them to negotiate directly with our insurance provider and, from my perspective, call for repairs that weren't needed. For instance, one roofer whom we called claimed that a beam in our garage had been cracked and needed to be replaced when it clearly hadn't been damaged. The same company wanted us to file a claim for replacing the entire roof of our house, which hadn't been damaged by the falling tree. My take on it was that that company simply wanted to increase the overall cost and scope of the project. In contrast, In & Out Restoration came up with an estimate that was very similar to what our insurance provider had given us. It was a fair, honest price for the work that we needed done, and they completed it well. Beyond that, they were pleasant, friendly people to work with. For that, I will gladly hire this company again the next time we need work done.
