5/5 Stars -- Beyond Amazing Food, Truly Unmatched Human Kindness! I cannot say enough good things about MISSION BBQ in Peoria. I am from out of town and live over two hours away. I found myself in the area because my daughter is currently at OSF Hospital. Walking in, I was already stressed, but the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by Travis Gilmore, the Area Director of Operations. When I mentioned it was my very first time visiting a MISSION BBQ, Travis went completely above and beyond. He immediately offered me samples of anything I wanted to try so I could find what I liked. But it didn't stop there. When he asked what brought me to town and I shared that my daughter was in the hospital, his genuine compassion blew me away. He insisted on putting together a free meal for me to take back to her at OSF, and he handed me a gift card along with a beautiful get-well card for her. The food itself is absolutely incredible--tender, perfectly smoked meats and delicious sides--but the heart and humanity of the staff here are what makes it a world-class establishment. Travis turned a stressful day into a deeply comforting experience. They don't just serve great food; they truly care about people and the community. I will be a lifelong customer! read more

I'm going to still recommend their food because when you get the right stuff you ordered, it's usually good. However, for our Thanksgiving meal that we had early due to work, we ordered brisket and pulled pork as the meats in the family meal. They never opened the big containers of the meats for me to see if we got the correct items. I was able to see brisket in the top container and pork was verbally repeated back to me however they were reading off of the receipt. Well we got the brisket but not pulled pork. Instead we got super dried out chicken. It was too late to go back because they closed at 8. We had spent the previous 2 nights trying to finish off rotisserie chicken from Costco so the last thing we wanted was more chicken. It was so dry that I had trouble swallowing it. I sent a message and all I got back 2 weeks later was an email asking me to call and discuss the situation. This was after I sent a reply that I still had not heard back from anyone as of 12/7. No offer to refund or to make it right. I'm not going to call and discuss what I already clearly sent in an email and waste even more of my time with zero effort to make it right. I could have purchased 4 more rotisserie chickens for the cost of the container from here and been happier with it. read more

Mission bbq is the best bbq in this area. Mission bbq is a chain but do not let that scare you away! We dined in again for dinner tonight. We split a turkey xxl combo with fries, coleslaw and it comes with cornbread. We also brought in our refillable honors flight cups for sweet tea. The turkey was moist and delicious. The refills are .99. The coleslaw was creamy and crispy good. The fries were tasty and fresh! The cornbread was really soft and moist! The sweet tea was good. I've been to the Naperville location before and was excited to see one in Peoria. I convinced my dad to come and try it out because I knew he loved bbq. First off, these people are AMAZING! They were super quick to get back to me via email or if i left them a voicemail. Very friendly and welcoming. They did a fantastic job catering my wedding! Everyone raved about how delicious the food was! We had plenty of it and we were actually excited to have left overs because their food is THAT good! When I actually visited them for the first time, one lady immediately walked up to me to talk to me about weddings because she seen me with a pamphlet in my hand. They tried to get me to do a taste testing but honestly I didn't need it because I knew they were perfect for my wedding! They have a ton of military pictures on the wall. What an awesome experience here at Mission BBQ!!! I was greater at the door just before noon by Elizabeth and was just in time for the National anthem. As a veteran I thought this was really cool! I felt so welcome from the moment I stepped into the door and couldn't have been more appreciated by the staff. Gluten-free options with very knowledgeable staff both upfront and in back. Clearly communicated GF need to ensure proper preparation. Manager shared all the side options when hearing us ask. Above and beyond in service!! Fries are gf and are the only items fried hence no cross-contamination. Brisket had a nice ring, sausage with cheese and jalapeño was good but pulled pork was the winner! 11 of 12 sauces are GF. Good selections including a vinegar on the table. While I'm glad to see Mission BBQ in Peoria, my inaugural experience was just "OK." No St. Louis-style ribs available. The smoked sausage was lack-luster, the spare ribs were not good (I won't order again), but the brisket was tasty! Fortunately and unfortunately where Mission really shined was their sides; they were delicious. That's something you don't see everyday. I'll give'em another try soon and I'm hopeful we'll get to try the St. Louis-style ribs. I'd like to try a pull-pork sandwich. C'mon Mission, bring your A-game, I'm counting on you! read more

My son and I stopped in after a baseball game with an appetite and no expectations. Unfortunately, they didn't have the the special juicy Lucy burger as advertised, so he went with the pulled pork. He said it was too dry and none of their sauces were appealing, so he slathered it in ketchup and moved on. Ordering the meal, it came with a handful of fries and we added on the Mac and cheese. I ordered the half yard bird, which was okay. Since it was the end of the night, the chicken was a bit dry. We went again yesterday for lunch after a day out over Christmas break. I have been here several times, but I guess I have never been here at exactly noon. It was quite impressive, everyone, including all of the staff and everyone in the dining area-- stops whatever they are doing at noon. There's an announcement that they will take a moment to honor our country by the singing of the National Anthem. So, kudos to Mission BBQ for continuing to serve-up tasty BBQ and to unapologetically honor America and the service personnel who have fought for that enduring honor and freedom. read more

My family loves Mission BBQ back home and decided to visit the Peoria location while on vacation and introduce our extended family to the newest store. The service and food was excellent. We ordered brisket, pulled chicken and pulled pork. We like the fresh cut fries and Mac-n- cheese as sides. Our favorite sauce is Texas Twang but they have six sauces to choose from. Generally the staff is very friendly. They will get to know you if you become a regular. read more

I think I expected too much from Mission BBQ. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a carryout order. Every worker I interacted with was friendly. The actual food, though, was simply OK. To my mind, if BBQ ribs fall apart, they're overcooked. Ribs should not turn into pulled pork. I'm glad that the sauce comes on the side because the sauce (something called Memphis Belle) was not good, and the fries were greasy. I didn't get to try the other side I ordered, because once I got home, I discovered it had not been included in the bag. To my mind, the price was a bit stiff. My five-rib dinner with two sides and a soft drink was over $20.00. On my next trip for ribs, I'll be headed to the Smo-King Pit. They never let me down. read more

I just had the best experience at Peoria Mission BBQ. As we walked in we were met by the friendliest cashier. When we told her that this was our first time she was so excited to brake down every item on the menu to explain everything for us. We sat down waiting for our friend to arrive another amazing worker came over and gave us samples of this delicious brownie. Her name was BillieJo whose the Dining Room Leader she was such a delight. She gave us a handful of samples because we were struggling on deciding what we wanted. She came and check on us while we were eating and even got us this exceptional Alabama White Sauce that was by far my favorite. The South Carolina Zing, Tupelo Honey Heat, and the Memphis Belle we're our tables favorite sauces. I got Baby Back Ribs that were fall off the bone exceptional, my fiancé got the turkey that he loved. Our friend got the brisket that has sauce already on it along with the pulled pork that he really enjoyed. At the end BillieJo brought us banana pudding on the house for being first timers. She left us a sweet note as well. We absolutely will be back not only because of BillieJo but also because of the delightful food. After placing my to-go order yesterday, arriving 25 minutes later (to give them enough time & not getting a pick up time from the employee), i arrived to find Chaos and another 40 minute wait for my food. They were out of turkey and chicken and told me after already waiting 30+ minutes in restaurant. All entrees are supposed to come with corn bread. They did not. Was super excited to try this place after hearing my friends and family visit it before I could get in there. Left feeling pretty disappointed. Prices were way to high. I had a brisket sandwich, Mac n cheese, baked beans, and drink and cost over $14. The amount of food I got for that price left me satisfied but not full. The sauces offered at the table were disappointing. I was looking forward to trying the different options but could not find one I enjoyed. I am not a picky eater, but they were all lacking flavor. The St Louis style just tasted too tomato like. The Mac and cheese was the highlight of my trip. Very good! The kids enjoyed it as well. We had a great experience at Mission BBQ. We were In town for a ball game and stopped by for lunch. Travis was amazing! He explained how Mission BBQ started and told us all about the food. Everything is fresh and homemade. Food was incredible! We had turkey, brisket and a pulled pork sandwich. The Bread pudding was yummy! Fresh cut fries were fantastic!
