Based on Yelp reviews, I went to take a look at the salon. It was very busy on a Wed afternoon, which I took as a good sign and made an appointment for Friday. Atsuko did a fantastic job cutting and coloring my hair. Her attention to detail was impressive - she spotted mistakes in my previous haircut that even I hadn't noticed, and was very careful the the color didn't splatter or run onto my skin or clothing. I brought some photos of my ideal cut - she did a great job marrying the style to what my hair actually does. She even gave me some tips on how to blow dry it better when I am doing it myself. Plus, she managed to pull this all off in less than 2 hours! (And it didn't feel rushed). My hair looks amazing and I am so happy with it! And even though they seem to always be busy, they are somehow able to fit people in on short notice so don't be shy about calling them.

This morning I woke up and tried to style it. My curls have been thinned and hacked. The result of the haircut is an over deconstructed mullet. When I look through the sections of my hair I can not understand his creative thinking. There are shapes all over the place and hair sticking out in places. I believe that this is the worst haircut I have ever experienced in my life. Rule #1: Curly hair gets cut dry: Each curl needs to be cut separately. You shape the head not deconstruct it to death. Oh well - hair grows back. I will be wearing a bun for the next 6 months. Luckily it just reaches. Within 12 months I will finally feel normal again. I am currently experiencing deep trauma as I feel that my hair has been raped. It will be a week or more until I am comfortable enough to look in to the mirror. I feel violated.
