I booked into Sarah who came through recommendation from a close friend. It was my last ditch effort to get a good colour before accepting that I would always be a block colour brunette . Sarah listened to me was so professional and did the best colour I've ever had . A gorgeous balyage colour. I had almost a full head if foils and it only took 2 and a half hours. She's so talented and I've also heard that the other stylists there are just as good . I re booked !!!! Plus the price is really reasonable too !

I was drawn in by the online bookings & reasonable prices, and got super lucky when I found Kylie at Miss Gertrude! First of all, they treat you to coffee or tea upon arrival (yum!) and Kylie really listened to me and gave me the exact cut I was after. Now, i've had very short hair for a very long time, and it is obvious when someone doesn't quite know what they're doing with my hair. In fact, I got my hair cut at a beauty school/training place for a few years, so I know what a bad cut looks like! Kylie gave me a technically excellent haircut, and what's more, she books in complimentary tidy-up appointments after three weeks. Highly recommended.

I've traveled the world and this was one of the best most well rounded experiences I have had at a salon. Aesthetically, the space is fantastic. Added to this the level of tailored professionalism by my stylist- Giovanni, Ugh- I can't recommend this salon enough! I'll be going back for sure and I highly recommend that you go to Miss Gertrude for all of your hair needs! (Giovanni is exceptional)

They offer a wide range of services from Keratin Treatments, Hair Extensions, Professional Make Up and of course Cut, Colour and Blow Wave. I have been treated by most of the stylists on staff and they all do an incredible job. I found they really took the time before and during my treatment to make sure they fully understood my requirements and also made sure I was happy with the way it was progressing. All in all a high quality salon with a great selection of capable stylists on staff, and located right in the middle of Chapel Street there is an elegant and boutique feel to this hair salon without the pretentiousness.

I've been three times in a row now and believe me when I say that this is the longest relationship I've had with a hair stylist in my life. High praise! Give them a go. Lack of professionalism, maturity and communication - had my hair done here wanting balayage from dark brunette. Lifted to a beautiful light yellow blonde (no orange or red tones). it came out like liney highlifhts with so much darkness still (deffs not balayage) she also made it so grey ashy!! . They completely stuffed my hair up far from what i wanted... AFTERR briefly speaking with Evon over Instagram to sort this out she told me she will SPEAK TO Emily (the owner) n get back to me. After two days she never got back to me and when I proceeded to message her she had already blocked me + I checked through a friends Instagram and she 100% blocked me. I proceeded to call and after mentioning who was calling she hung up on me. Called again, answered , didn't speak and hung up when I said hello. 3rd time I spoke to Emily and Emily said " well you've written a review so you're not getting anything" she continued to speak over me , not allowing me to talk and I had to speak over her and still she wouldn't listen. She then proceeded to tell me to "get f*kd" then hung up on me. THIS ISNT about getting anything back (refund or a service) anymore. this is about how they've handled this. ZERO communication! so disrespectful!! all because I wrote a review on how they stuffed my hair. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND IMMATURE FOR "SENIOR" hairdressers. It's like dealing with 15 year olds. You both need to take some courses on how to be PROFESSIONAL. Absolute horrendous and shocking behaviour!!!! Wow!!!! you must have paid reviews on google.

She raved about the lovely service, and how staff stayed back and assisted the other to get her the colour she wanted. Sweet. So I came in with another colleague, she is there for a haircut and I am there for eyebrow threading. The shopfront is only about 1.5 metres wide so it's easy to walk past or undermine this salon, but once you walk in you will find a long narrow salon with a separate area at the back and beautician of the house Rimi does her magic upstairs. The hairdresser listened to my friend's request and did a good job cutting and thin layering her super thick hair. She was told the story that this salon's specialty is hair extension and they love doing colours. My eyebrow threading+tinting was a lovely experience and both of us walked away happy and with a $20 voucher each for next visit. Friendly staff, lovely service, satisfied clients. If I didn't have to cross the bridge to get here, this will be my local salon.

I let her know what I needed to get done, and she recommended Yumi, an Advanced Senior Stylist. I understand that getting hair done in another country can be tricky, especially if you don't know the stylists. But as this is right by Myers on Level 1 of the Emporium, and it is a Paris-based salon, I figured I would gamble with the French. As I had a longer appointment, it required a $90 deposit that would be non-refundable if canceled. I arrived today and was swiftly greeted by Yumi. She offered me tea or coffee and brought it to me right away. She then met with me to discuss my hair and needs. She brought out the color book and talked to me about toning colors along with matching colors for my roots. She also took the time to look at my base color and we mutually agreed on mixing two tones to help replicate color. I was super tired having been running around all day. I was not in the mood to talk and enjoyed my mini nap while Yumi worked on my hair. She was very patient and respected my space and need for rest. Plus it always feels good to get your hair done- sort of a meditative process, if you will. She let me know when I would be done with the foils and base coloring and how much time it would be till wash and rinse with the toner. When it came time to take out my alien foils out and wash my hair and apply toner, she gave me a lovely massage around my hair line and neck etc to help round out the process. Yumi was super profesional with me, and afterwards she helped me take photos of my hair. I think most Aussies use Google Reviews, but I let her know there is a population of us travelers who do use Yelp and want to provide feedback. As I didn't know their address, she gave me this pamphlet that had their hours and address. I then logged onto Yelp and saw someone else had added them but did not have a good experience. All I can say is that all of the staff were pleasant to me and treated me nicely from booking to finish. I super love my hair and normally would not let anyone else touch my hair as I have seen the same stylist for over a decade. But sometimes in life it is good to shake things up a bit and nothing matches that elation you get when you walk away with fresh looking hair that makes you feel like a model. Even just for a day! Thank you Yumi and all the staff. Ps their hours are: Mon-Wed And Sat 10:00-7:00pm Thursday 10:00am-8:00pm Friday 10:00am-9:00pm Sunday 10:00am-6:00pm I think it is awesome they have longer hours for both Thursday and Friday evenings to accommodate people getting ready to go out and /or those with different work shifts. Sure it is pricier than what I pay in the US, but at the end of the day, you do get what you pay for and no one wants orange hair when getting highlights lol. Give Yumi a try, and she will help you look amazing!
