I love stopping in here for a wash and blow dry, it's only $35 and service is fast, efficient and friendly. They always do a great job. Other salons charge up to $60 for the same and it's no better. You often get two hairdressers drying your hair at once which makes it an even quicker process. There are a few Sui salons around the city but I've tended to just go to this one based on location mostly. I've just come from a blow dry and feel great! read more

I really wanted to like this place. The vibe and staff are all very friendly. But most importantly why you're there is for your hair. I got my hair colored by Dodo. She is a sweetheart but my hair is horrible. I went in with pretty light hair and wanted to change it up with a bayalage- it turned out pretty splotchy and another hairdresser told me to go back in to fix it as I wasn't happy at all... so today I went back in and I now have a straight line of dark to light. I'm really disappointed as I paid $220 for this and it looks like a student colored it. So glad to find an affordable salon that knows how to work with asian hair. I got my haircut here 4 weeks ago and it's grown out great. Just popped in today to get my fringe recut and instead of making an assumption and lopping it off, my guy (can't remember his name but he always wears a suit) carefully trimmed my fringe and trimmed it back gradually until we were both happy with the length. No too short hair nightmares here thank goodness. They also have a loyalty card that adds credit and can give you discounts in the future. Only random thing was my first time here there were 3 dogs in the salon who temporarily had a barking competition... I'll definitely be back! read more

All the workers here are amazing! I walked in and the ambience was great as well. The owner personally consulted me about what colour hair I wanted to dye and explained the whole process and focussed about how to keep my hair healthy as I've dyed it before. They made the whole experience very comfortable and offered many discounts as I was a student, they said if I paid in cash they've give a further discount and even waited for me to walk across the road to an atm to cash out as I only have card. I had a fairly decent experience at Sui. I'm very sensitive about my hair and have a difficult time trusting new hairdressers with it. With that said, it was time for a haircut and without any convincing recommendations from Melbournians, I sought to find a salon/hairdresser on my own. My hairwashing experience frightened me and made me terrified of what my haircut would be like. Luckily the washer was not the same as the cutter. In the middle of my wash, I wondered if I could request to wash it myself. I'm sorry, but shouldn't it be a basic thing to learn if you are working in a salon? My washer couldn't get the temperature right - too cold, too hot, cold. And I couldn't understand what she was saying to me when she was trying to adjust the heat. Then I got heaps of water splashed into my ear. I'm sorry, if I need my ears washed out I will go to the doctor's. Then I got shampoo shoved into my ear. Water was dripping all over my neck and down my forehead. Unacceptable! It's been a few hours since my haircut and I've just found a gigantic piece of shampoo in my external ear. Gross. However, Heidy came to the rescue and cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it. She made me feel comfortable with going to a much shorter hairdo, and was very competent at cutting my thick Asian hair. She was meticulous and focused, and hygienic! When one of the combs fell on the floor, she made sure to use a new and clean one from the cart. It's a bit weird, they have two hair dryers and two flat irons - I suppose to speed up the service? It was interesting for ten seconds, but I really didn't feel comfortable with my incompetent hair-washer straightening the same piece of hair 5 times. I didn't cut it short to have it roasted by an iron. I much preferred when Heidy worked on my hair. Overall, I felt like the price was decent, the salon was clean and bright, and my hairdresser did a satisfying job on my hair. I'd go back, but I'd just probably wash my hair beforehand. read more

Sui 2 was quite good last year, I had my hair straightened and had hair cuts a few times. However when I went in March this year, the straightening done by another hair dresser wasn't as good, i.e. it looked good the first week but the straightening didn't last. Today I went for a trim, it was a nightmare. The place was almost empty, it used to be very busy. When I told the hairdresser I had water down my back, her answered "really?" no apology and apparently the rinse was done! She trimmed off about an inch in record time. There was no care taken, no checking the front of the hair length was the same on both sides, now I have lopsided hair. She did tell me the whole crew had changed, and I really don't recognised anyone there. The sign still says Sui but I don't think it's the same management. After my experience at the Drunken barber I was keen to find another hair dresser after my regular hair dresser had a baby and moved to suburbia. The experience was 5 star. I've never walked into a hair salon and felt like "I'm gonna be a loyal customer and come back" but with sui, I do feel like that. My hair cut was exactly what I had asked for (just a slight trim and fringe trim), I wanted color but didn't wanna bleach my hair (as I'm still recovering from previous bleach damage) - Yenna my hair dresser suggested I get half a head of foils and that way there won't be much damage and my hair can achieve that lighter color. I went along with her recommendation and I'm loving the look! They're quite efficient and do a good job. For asian hair, it's always hard to find hair colorist who can do a good job, but this place did it really well. So well worth the $200 bucks, which is pretty decent for what I got done. Already booked my next appointment for hair styling for a wedding from here! I'm giving this place a 4 star because my friend and other customers got ear cap (kinda like shower cap but for ears) to wear and I didn't, as a result when my hair was being washed, I did get water in, but that's me being very picky! read more

From the moment I walked in, I was treated with a cold attitude. I asked a typical question about colours and pricing, and was rudely interrupted by the receptionist "just show me a photo ok". When I asked politely for the price breakdown, she started to be defensive and said that she didn't want to argue prices with me. Had a haircut with the Manager, Lisa $50. She's not trained as a hairdresser. Experienced maybe. Her technique is what you would find in any $15 haircut place in Springvale. Didn't follow my instructions at all. No layers, mean no shaver/slicer. Blunt ends, means no curves. No fringe means, no fringe. Don't cut my long whispy sides into a fringe. My long straight hair ended up looking just like hers. Not happy. It was at least an even haircut, not crooked or anything. There are many awards on Sui's doors from 2013 and 2014. Upon asking, that hairdresser had already left. Not sure that it's right to be advertising talent that doesn't work there anymore. read more

WARNING: Review is super long because it's from two trips to Sui salon. So I Just walked out of Sui after a "trim" today I've been to Sui before to get my hair dyed I make it a habit to always check reviews for salons. reviews are mostly positive, some iffy ones here and there but ones to look past that don't seem quite dramatic. So first time I decided to go, I called in for a quote considering its in the city (I understand that city prices compared to suburban will be very different) and I was willing to invest in a salon that said to have great service and have positive reviews with dying hair. So I went in with pretty much virgin hair with a bit of highlights I wanted to get rid of. Mind you I have said clearly to the lady "please OVER quote me so I can be prepared to pay next time I book in" the lady said "$280 -$300 with twice bleach if your hair is strong enough and to that colour" I was going for a light brown ash colour. So I was pretty surprised with The price and booked in next week. went in fully excited, money saved for this, and same lady that quote me is dying my hair (which is perfect since she knows what I want) so after being bleached twice sitting for about 4 hours they take me down to wash/trim then they start blow drying and curling my hair, at this point I'm getting scared because my hair is like a barbie blonde. And it's not quite blended "ombré" as I asked, its just straight black - blonde. When it was curled it looked really nice But it wasn't my desired colour.. So I'm really tired and she tells me it's a nice colour on me. But I tell her yeah it is but this isn't the colour I wanted when you quoted me, she tells me that oh because min bleach is $280.... At this point I'm like crap Did I screw up or? So I just pay it. But every step they make with your hair you have to remind them or question them what they are doing. Making sure they are doing what you want. So I got a point card which is cool of $14 for next time I want to come in. 4 months have past and I got my hair dyed recently before Christmas somewhere else to a grey with a great ombré blend. But I didn't want to cut it at that salon as reviews said dye is #1 but be careful with cutting. So I decided to use my points card from Sui to TRIM my hair. I go in, and she says she's gonna wash my hair and I'm like no thank you I just want a trim, (I wash my own hair considering its grey so I use specific shampoos/treatments) she kindly takes me to a chair and my hair is up to my boobs and I asked the lady to cut "this much" clearly showing her to cut the width of the size of my thumb. She starts cutting away and towards the end I think she's doing a great job, she brushes it out. And starts cutting again I'm like whaaaaaaaaa she tells me she's just evening out the part where my hair splits near my face. Hair feels healthy, she ends up cutting the width of my three fingers put together... My hair is just below my shoulders.. So I'll just go pay, little did I know that if you don't want a wash you will still be charged $45 that the website says... But the lady said $50... I hear $15 so I give my points card and she's like "I'll just use $10 (card is 14) .. So $40 please" I pay and say "wow $40 for just a trim, no wash, no blow wave added" and she rudely and quickly said "yes $40" I've been to really well known for salons that are said to be expensive but max (like one in emporium) paid $30 for a wash and trim. The place seems to always be full of both walk-ins and their regular customers. I like their system of getting services done for each customer, seems quite organised. The lady who cut my hair, as per usual for a salon, did try to ask me to do some treatment for my very damaged hair as well for another $50. I usually have my own products and do them at home whenever I can, so I didn't take that offer. The lady was still quite nice and the cut was pretty decent. I wish they would have some Shiseido products, at least for colouring. But from what I can grasp, it's rather a Korean-operated shop so I'm guessing the products they're using must be quite good for a Korean brand. read more

I had my hair cut and colour by Rosie at Sui 2. It was the first time I've had my hair colour in a Salon. When I spoke to Rosie she was really friendly and gave me some suggestions. I ended up getting a dark brown balayage which I absolutely love. I have received so many compliments. My hair actually feels great considering that I did have to have some parts bleached. I'm so happy with it and will definitely be visiting Rosie again. read more

So currently at Melbourne central there is an offer for $65 for getting your hair treated. I booked in at the start of the day, and showed up 15 mins early to my appt. I waited an extra 15 minutes on top until I Finally decided to get up and say something. I asked the receptionist who was on her phone online shopping who then told the hairdresser after that I was waiting. I got told by 3 different people at the salon that It will be $65 as soon as my hair dresser sees me. He insists that is the wrong price and when I questioned how come everyone else told me it was $65 he said it is because one of them was a receptionist and the other was an apprentice. I did not complain, and just thought if it was a quality product then I am more than happy to pay the extra price. The hairdresser insisted that it is because my hair is longer than bra length, and this promotion is only for shoulder length hair. I did not agree at all with the logic behind it but I took it anyway. Got the treatment done, and then proceeded to get a haircut. I asked for a trim, and next thing I know this hairdresser starts thinning my hair. When I saw what he was doing and questioned why, he said it was because my hair was thick and messy. First of all, due to my Indian background of course my hair is thicker. This is an all Asian salon and I am the only one here that is not Asian and I feel that a lot of the rudeness, the comments and everything else I got was because I am not Asian, and also because they will try and make extra money whenever they can. This is the second time I have been misinformed about pricing. And now in combination with a horrible haircut, where I Feel like I have lost all my hair, I will never be returning back ever again. $120 For all my hair to be thinned off along with a treatment". So $85 for the treatment because my hair is long? Then ends up being shoulder length and all cut and thinned off, yet I still payed $120 all together? Ridiculous. I visited the Melbourne central salon a couple of months ago. I was so excited as their Insta pics looked incredible. The colour I can't complain - nothing special but ok.. However the cut is terrible. I said all I wanted was a trim and my hair got hacked into and textured, still a couple months later I can't style it well, I feel horrible about the cut. I don't like writing negative reviews but this salon really hacked into my hair and gave me a cut that looks especially awful when I straighten it.
