I needed to get a second opinion and was referred by a friend. The experience from the time I arrived at the office to my diagnosis and treatment was nothing short of awesome. The entire team that supports Dr Howitt makes you feel confident and welcome ! The most important thing I experienced was Dr Howitt and his wife Elena's generosity to the community. They serve the community in a very meaningful way. As a part of their early days in south Miami they took care of many patients that couldn't afford care and still to this day In a overcrowded environment they still take care of those patients at NO cost including meds. They said they would take a look while we waited to see the doctor. The eye exam with the doctor was fine and everything was running smoothly until we started looking at the frames and asked about coverage one more time. The lady who was helping us said that they didn't accept the insurance so we had no option but leave with no glasses. We ended up calling our insurance and they confirmed they should have accepted our plan. We ended up going to a different location where the experience was so much better. They also made a big deal about sending the exam results to the other location. They should train their employees on doing more research before denying coverage.

The Doctor explained that it seemed to have slightly improved rather than worsening in any way and agreed that I didn't seem to have any other issues at the moment, which is what my primary care physician felt as well last January. Though I originally hoped to see Dr. Lowinger, himself, as he has provided excellent care to me for approximately 20 years now, I couldn't have asked for better care. I would award them 10 stars on a scale of 1 to 10 if I could. Thank you for the consistently high standards and exceptional visual results. I really can't recommend his office highly enough. When I asked whether there was an extra charge for the dilation test, I was told no. Only after I pulled up my insurance benefits did the receptionist admit that the additional charge was for the dilation.
