I wouldn't have this lady sew a button on a shirt after my experience. Needed a new zipper and a button repaired on a boat cover. $540!!!! I wish I had seen these reviews before I went here. She will NEVER get any business from me again and I will warn as many others as possible. read more

This woman is an absolute thief! Within 5 minutes she gave me three different prices. So right away I knew someone was wrong and she was going to try to charge me over $5,000 for my boat cushions. According to the business' website, Mirella's Tailoring "is focused on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction." That certainly was not my recent experience. I took two tank tops to Marella's Tailoring to have them shortened. Mirella charged me $25.00 to shorten each tank top. Later, I washed the tank tops, for the first time, in my new washing machine and used the delicate cycle. When I took them out of the washing machine, I noticed that the stitching, on the hem of one of the tank tops was loose, and had unraveled in many different areas. I took the tank top back to Marella and she offered no explanation for the poor quality sewing that she had done when she hemmed the tank top. She offered to redo her poor quality sewing for an additional $25.00. Marella stated that I did not bring the tank top back within one week of when I had picked it up, and therefore she was not responsible for the problem. I left and found another tailor who does care about high-quality service and customer satisfaction. read more

Extremely overpriced! I okayed the "time and materials" without realizing I was going to get taken advantage of. If you are going to do business with Mirella agree on the price on the front end that way she doesn't take advantage of you. She charged me over $450 dollars to replace rotted out wood on a seat back. She re-used all the other materials and just stapled the seat back together ( which I'm fine with but just wanted to explain the scope of the work). I almost just left the seat and didn't pick it up, but wanted to keep my end of the deal. I agreed to whatever she said price would be. When I expressed my frustration on price she proceeded to argue with me and claim she didn't make any money of the chair and was done doing boat chairs. As a upholstery company a small job like this Mirella has the responsibility to warn customers if her repair is going to cost almost 4 times what a new chair would cost. read more

Unfortunately, I hadn't read the prior reviews before bringing a boat enclosure to Mirella. I sew marine canvas at my shop in SW Florida and recently made a helm enclosure for a friend's boat that he keeps in Silver Bay, Minnesota on Lake Superior. Despite following the pattern I had made last fall, there were minimal adjustments needed in the final fitting including two short hems (20" each) and stitching the Keder awning rope that had been properly positioned on the enclosure using fabric glue. With my sewing machine still in Florida, I needed someone in Minnesota to sew the minimal tweaks to finish it. My friend and I together brought the enclosure to Mirella and asked if she could sew the well marked adjustments. She replied that she definitely could but it would be a few weeks for her to get to it. When we asked for an estimate, she said she charges by the hour and her rate is $94/hour plus the cost of the thread. While the hourly rate seemed a bit "rich" to me, she said she had plenty of business and that was her rate. As we left, I told my friend to expect a bill between $75 and $100 including tax as the sewing needed should take less than an hour. He picked up the enclosure pieces after just 12 days when she called to say it was done. She told him the bill was $284. Even though he was shocked at the charge, he paid it and took the enclosure pieces to Silver Bay to install. When he unrolled the five separate pieces, he discovered that Mirella had failed to stitch the Keder rope on two very narrow pieces (9" long each). I brought those two pieces back to be sewn as previously requested, Mirella agreed to sew it while I waited. When asked for any cost, she refused to answer, leading me to believe it would be of little or no charge. In less than two minutes, she sewed a single stitch line of less than 10" on each piece. As she handed over the two pieces she boldly said, "That will be $22". I balked at the charge as she had neglected to do what was agreed initially to which she said, "I am running a business. If you don't like it, you can go somewhere else". I told her I would do just that in the future. I urge you to do the same! I do not question her work, but she has NO Scruples about pricing as her charges are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! read more

I brought 2 cushions to have reupholstered. They fit our boat perfectly and just needed new fabric applied as old was cracking from age. She gave me a quote that seemed high but she reassured me it would be excellent work that she said would be a couple weeks. Well, it took 2 months to complete work. And it didn't fit. So I brought it back. She wanted to charge me again for materials. I explained that she was given perfectly fitting cushions and just needed to replicate them. She redid them but charged me an exorbitant amount for her time redoing work that she .essed up the first time. By now I just wanted my cushions so we could sit in our fly bridge. Well she didn't put the snaps on. Saying that I needed to mark the spots to place them. So I make another trip up to lake Superior. She puts on the snaps. They don't match up. She refuses to redo cushions and make a couple extenders from scrap material. I'm fed up by now and just take the cushions $2000 later. Wel the were sat on one season and not very often. The snaps are al falling off!! Do not do business here. read more
