    Wine tasting list

We first tried Miranda at the CT Wine Festival a few years ago and weren't super impressed, but decided to give them a second try at their location. We had some trouble finding it at first (there are signs that say "2 miles ahead" but then don't indicate which way to turn) but thanks to GPS we were able to locate it. You can choose six wines for the tasting, which is (I think) $7 for the tasting or $8.50 with the glass. The counter where we did the tasting wasn't very long and we kept getting pushed down to accommodate more and more people. I chose the chardonnay, vinho novo, cayuga white, woodridge red, goshen farmhouse red, and rose. The only one I liked enough to buy was the vinho novo (a new addition, apparently). It's never a good thing when the pourer says "it's a good sangria wine", since that means it's good if you add flavor to it. The grounds are pretty but nothing to write home about when you have other vineyards within a few miles with better views. Not my favorite.

The wine here is amazing! The wines are preservative free! The quality of every wine I tried on their menu was superb! Great tasting room atmosphere with live music almost weekly and the people behind the bar are so friendly and welcoming! I love coming here to drink a bottle, experience a tasting and sip the sangria!

Quaint, quiet tasting room in the middle of Goshen. This is a nice stop for part of your weekend day trip but I wasn't a huge fan of the wines from the tasting (no particular reason but there were some flavors and aftertastes that didn't settle well with me). It's a nice location and I'd love to give a few more selections a try but some of these aren't for me!

Definitely a place to skip... Though the wine was good, the seating area was small and the portions were teeny tiny. It was busy when we went, so I felt like I was chipped. The menu was confusing as you had to check off the wines you did not want. Best part of the visit, the $1 inch piece of Fascia's dark chocolate with chili, sea salt, and almonds. However, it is a beautiful place with a spectacular view.

Gorgeous venue. Lovely CT wine. Your are not in Napa or French wine country so why people are comparing any of the wines to these regions is unknown. Take off your Napa expectations and enjoy the wine as it can be grown in the climate we have. That being said I would like to start with what a great place to spend a quiet Sunday tasting some lovely CT wine. For Connecticut wine,Maranda Vineyards is as good as any of the other locations we been to.The Vineyard itself is a gorgeous venue and the staff is knowledgeable warm and welcoming. If u have been to any other CT wine tastings you would know that all of the wineries use the annoying 1 ounce fillers. I am guessing this is a CT state regulation this is not unique to Maranda vineyards. Have a tasting buy a bottle or three and enjoy. .

Well worth a stop on the CT wine trail. Plenty of room in the tasting area, a nice deck overlooking the vineyards, and plenty of seating for those looking to sit and relax. The wines were quite good and they had some gourmet chocolates (to taste with the wine) and a nice cheese selection to purchase and enjoy. We bought a bottle of the Woodridge Red to bring home and enjoy.

A withering plant. An appropriate metaphor.

We stopped by Miranda for a quick tasting during a tour of the CT vineyards but quickly realized that Miranda Vineyard and its wine should be left off the list in the future. The wine was unremarkable, and certainly not worth the prices of the bottles, but the sampling was a nice value at $9. The girl serving the sampling was pleasant but the woman who was apparently the proprietor was quite the opposite in demeanor and brought quite an attitude. Finally, the views of the grounds were also lacking, but the poor wine flavor and the undeservedly snobbish attitude truly soured our grapes.

3rd stop out of 4 on the NW leg of wine trail. Not all that impressed. We arrived and it was pretty blah as far as decor goes. Not cozy or welcoming at all. There was a woman singing acoustic renditions of songs and she was good as far as the singing/guitar goes but when she would speak in between sets she had no personality, complete monotone.. zzzzzz. It seems that they were going for a coffee house vibe but it wasn't coffeehouse cozy at all. Its like trying to turn Genpop in prison into a coffeehouse vibe. As for the wine, decent, but the wine host was super young and trying way too hard, not natural at all in her conversation, it felt forced and corny, It's too bad because this vineyard is super close to our new place, but I wouldnt care to return if it was next door.

    We loved this place!

I am saddened to see the reviews on here that aren't as glowing as mine is. First and foremost, this is absolutely a beautiful and bucolic location with staff that go above and beyond to make you feel a part of the Miranda Vineyard family, imparting their knowledge, while ensuring you're well taken of. Not to mention, the live music and saxophone playing in the background. I would say an ideal fall Sunday! I can't imagine someone not having a great experience here, and frankly, have found this one of the most enjoyable CT Vineyards I have visited. This is a must stop on the CT wine trail and I look forward to returning time and time again. Bravo and kudos to the Miranda Vinyard family and team. We enjoyed our time here!

I haven't done a full tasting here so I can't comment on the entire selection of wines, but even still, I had the absolute best experience at Miranda a few weeks ago. Since I had a pretty work-packed weekend coming up, I took a quiet drive out to Litchfield on Friday afternoon to enjoy a couple wineries when they weren't at full capacity. My friend and I stopped into Miranda for a quick glass of wine but ended up staying MUCH longer than expected. As it was a weekday, we had the place to ourselves which makes all the difference when you're not competing for space at the bar with entire tours, bachelorette parties, and patrons elbowing through to get their wine passports stamped. We had such a lovely time chatting with Maria, one of the owners, about everything from the winery's history to her own career path (she's a former school principal), to her travels around the world, all while sipping a glass (ok, two glasses) of a REALLY lovely rose. I ended up buying a bottle. I also sampled Miranda's vinho verde and white port which were both delightful. Can't wait to come back!

The tasting room was lovely, overlooking the vineyard and rolling hills in the distance. We were hosted by the owner's wife, who knew her grapes and her wine, and was able to give us a plethora of information and history. Unfortunately, none of the wines really stood out to me. Not to say that anything was bad; everything was good but unremarkable. My favorite was the merlot, and the port that I paid $2 extra to taste.

The winery employees who come out need commendations, because it is just a mob of people waiting for free pours. It's a great idea and a good way for wineries on one side of the state to gain an audience on the other, but the design needs work. There needs to be a way to move some of the large groups out of the way so other people can get a pour. I had one pour (not tasting, one pour of wine) when I attended. Maybe in a few years it will be worth a try again. On the plus side, if you're doing the Wine Passport, you do NOT need to buy a ticket to get the stamp. Just ask at the gate for a stamp, get it done and get on your way. The rules of the Passport program do not require a purchase to get a stamp.

Lots of venders and a good variety of food trucks also. The amount of vineyard that were there too was really impressive! We sampled SO many wines and got some extra freebies from them also. Most of the wine vendors were nice and let us double sample to see if we wanted to buy a bottle or not but then there was a few ass holes who denied us and straight up lost our business because of that. Otherwise it was a lot of fun and I'd love to go back next year!

Pulling up was like driving into someone else's backyard at first. But don't let that sway you, this is a marvelous gem of a winery. Their Red Table wine is like a milder Cab with a clean finish, enough to eat with a meal or sipping. I'm not into white but the Gertrude wasn't sweet at all, in fact all of their wines are quite dry, even their Rose. We've been many CT wineries, with Hopkins and Stonington Vineyards being the best, the wine quality approaches what these more established places deliver. The venue is intimate, it's small, ie, 50-60 people would fill up most of the seating in the barn/deck, but there an outside seating area adjacent that peeps walk past and aren't aware of. There were maybe 25 people there and it was fine. Parking could be tight if busy, but I suspect very few people know of this place. Owners were very nice, and love talking about their wines. Jim especially. Note no food, other than a cheese box which was good, but you can bring your own... I'd give it 5 stars but felt the flight serving pour was a bit small. Def on our list to visit again.
