Extremely disappointed with ATI Physical Therapy and their billing practices…read more Before I even scheduled my first appointment, I specifically asked them to verify my insurance and tell me exactly what my cost would be per visit. I was told it would be approximately $60. I intentionally waited several days for them to verify my insurance information before moving forward because I wanted to know the cost upfront. At my first visit, I was charged $65. It was $5 more than quoted, but I didn't make an issue of it. Now, approximately 25 days later, ATI is trying to charge me an ADDITIONAL $95 for that same visit. That brings the total cost of ONE physical therapy visit to $160. When I called customer service, I was told the original $65 was supposedly only a "deposit." That was NEVER explained to me. Had I been told that $65 was simply a deposit and that I could later be billed another $95, I would have never agreed to the appointment. What makes this especially frustrating is that I specifically asked for the cost BEFORE scheduling and gave them time to verify everything with my insurance. Their customer service experience only made the situation worse. Patients deserve transparency about what they are agreeing to pay. Quoting someone around $60, collecting $65 at the appointment, and then nearly a month later billing another $95 is completely unacceptable to me. I would absolutely NOT recommend ATI Physical Therapy based on my experience. If you decide to use them, I strongly recommend getting your expected TOTAL cost in writing before receiving any services.

From checking in w/ Britany/Charity to getting assessed by Dr. Kacie to being guided by PT Assistants Alex, Jesse & Luis, they are all focused on helping clients get back to their regular activity level. T.O.P.S. is the only physical therapy practice I will use in Phoenix! I used them for my gait…read morere-training after pregnancy and for the pain in my spine from breastfeeding. Now I'm doing rehab for my knee arthroscopy. Their facility is beautiful and gentle, well-trained dogs roam around the staff and patients. They have a manual therapy philosophy, which means that their skilled physical therapists work the muscles and other tissue with their bodies before you are asked to do your strengthening and rehab exercises. Their therapists are exceptionally well trained and even their techs know exactly what needs to be done, from prep to positioning. I highly recommend T.O.P.S. Physical Therapy!

Then I continued on to my exercises with a student who was very helpful. My second appt a week later I was with a different PT who spent less than 5 min on me, no cupping or additional therapy. Then I was on my own to do my exercises which I hardly remembered so I had to approach one of the students for help. I found this odd because I've been to physical therapy before and had a more hands on experience from the staff. Repeat all of this on my third visit. Had another different PT who spent more time with me than the second one but once that care was over I was on my own. Then on my fourth visit I had yet another different PT, even though my appts were at the same date/time each week. I did some looking on Reddit and folks in the PT community refer to places like these as "mills" which it totally felt like. The nail in the coffin for me was getting charged for a needling service (recommended by one of the physical therapists there) even though at no point was I informed that it was an additional cost. Bummed out because the location was convenient and staff was kind, I just think the way the place is run could be more patient-focused.

Her assessments are incredibly thorough--she doesn't just treat symptoms, she finds and addresses the root cause of the issue. When I first started seeing her, I could barely stand up and sit down due to the pain in my knees (degenerative arthritis), and seeing her combined with the exercises that she has recommended, I am now able to do weighted squats, which I never thought I'd be able to do again. Bree is remarkably detail-oriented and has a rare gift for identifying what's really going on, even with complex or lingering injuries. Her treatment plans are not only effective in the short term, but they create lasting improvements. Thanks to her, I've made progress I didn't think was possible with The osteoarthritis in my knees and a couple issues I had with my foot. She gave me incremental exercises that led to not just a full recovery, but strength, range of motion, and flexibility that I had not had before my injury. Sevaughn, her therapy assistant is also amazing with an encouraging very professional attitude dove tailed with attention to detail, fine tuning the subtleties of each assigned exercise to give maximum benefit. The physical improvement was coupled with a sense of caring and consistent compassion. I saw it with all their clients. I then proceeded to attend 8 more sessions and was NEVER EVER EVER EVER ASKED FOR A CO-PAY any of those times. As a 19 year old guy that has never had to really deal with medical co-pays or payments I had no idea it would be $50 every time I came! After almost 2 years of NOTHING from them. I was sent to collection for a bill of $540! INSANE! ESPECIALLY IN A TIME WHERE A PANDEMIC HAS HIT AND I HAD BEEN UNEMPLOYED FOR OVER A YEAR! They said they talked to me and sent me statements. I never saw even one. I just paid my $540 in collections today because I am a good person. (JUST AN FYI, 50x8 is 400, not 540) so now I'm stuck paying even more.
