T.O.P.S. is the only physical therapy practice I will use in Phoenix! I used them for my gait…read morere-training after pregnancy and for the pain in my spine from breastfeeding. Now I'm doing rehab for my knee arthroscopy. Their facility is beautiful and gentle, well-trained dogs roam around the staff and patients. They have a manual therapy philosophy, which means that their skilled physical therapists work the muscles and other tissue with their bodies before you are asked to do your strengthening and rehab exercises. Their therapists are exceptionally well trained and even their techs know exactly what needs to be done, from prep to positioning. I highly recommend T.O.P.S. Physical Therapy!

I wish I wasn't writing this review but I hope it's helpful to any future patients needing PT. I…read morewas very happy with my first visit, started with a thorough consult and some dedicated time with one of the PTs there. Then I continued on to my exercises with a student who was very helpful. My second appt a week later I was with a different PT who spent less than 5 min on me, no cupping or additional therapy. Then I was on my own to do my exercises which I hardly remembered so I had to approach one of the students for help. I found this odd because I've been to physical therapy before and had a more hands on experience from the staff. Repeat all of this on my third visit. Had another different PT who spent more time with me than the second one but once that care was over I was on my own. Then on my fourth visit I had yet another different PT, even though my appts were at the same date/time each week. I did some looking on Reddit and folks in the PT community refer to places like these as "mills" which it totally felt like. The nail in the coffin for me was getting charged for a needling service (recommended by one of the physical therapists there) even though at no point was I informed that it was an additional cost. Bummed out because the location was convenient and staff was kind, I just think the way the place is run could be more patient-focused.

Hope is what I surprisingly received the first day of eval. I had come from another very large PT…read moreorganization where I was released after 5 months and was still lacking in being able to function with basic life skills. Dr. Gomez (Makali) was amazing. She gave me incremental exercises that led to not just a full recovery, but strength, range of motion, and flexibility that I had not had before my injury. Sevaughn, her therapy assistant is also amazing with an encouraging very professional attitude dove tailed with attention to detail, fine tuning the subtleties of each assigned exercise to give maximum benefit. The physical improvement was coupled with a sense of caring and consistent compassion. I saw it with all their clients. It gave me a profound sense of comparison to the very impersonal and uncaring attitude of the PT site I had been released from. And, finally I want to express my sincere appreciation to the welcoming reception staff greeting each person by first name. They were immensely helpful and their phone calls were very kind and courteous. Once again, in comparison to my previous PT location, I could not remember anyone ever being called by first name upon the check in process. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

ATI Physical Therapy is discreetly hidden in office building near the Baptist Hospital (Abrazo…read moreHealth) off Bethany Road in Phoenix. The place is easy to get to and parking is plentiful. Dion, the Clinic Director is just plain awesome. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and a master at his craft. He does not hesitate to share his knowledge to his patients and his peers. You can tell he has a love for his job and his craft which is hard to find. He does not make you feel small or insufficient which those feelings can sneak up on you. For me, my journey is a broken arm at 56, at an age when I am at my worst shape ever. overweight and riddle with arthritis. I have a long journey and have made so much progress. Dion and associates, Ed, etc, I have nothing but praise. These are a group of fun people that you wished you were friends with outside of work and are true professionals making this journey a pleasant one making one at ease. HOWEVER,**** When there is light, there is also darkness, and I am referring to ATI's Billing Department so any new patients' trend with caution. I had issues with their billing department where the associates do not return your calls or emails, there are no follow ups, and they have no common sense of flexibility. For the most part, they are pleasant on the phone but deliver no substance in their solutions or explanations and I had to go beyond them to get routine matters resolved on my own and bothering folks like Dion, something he does not deal with on a daily basis because it is not his job, but he cares and points me in the right direction. Would I go to ATI again in the future, yes, but I would make sure every step along the way is covered with insurance and billing issues. As I am in the final stages of my medical treatment, I have this cloud over my head, a dark cloud of "what if" with the billing department. My latest fight with the billing department will work itself out. I did everything I was supposed to do as a patient and also went the extra mile for my insurance company because I do not trust their billing department. If the billing department was not in this review, it would easily be a 5 star review.

Not this location specifically, but ATI in general is a terrible place to work in any position. PT…read moreand PTA are under constant stress, having to solely rely on their OSS because corporate wants the doctors to see 13 patients a day each for over and hour, which is not possible. Patients are constantly complaining because they want one-on-one attention from PT when it is not possible due to high volume patients comin into the cllinic. OSS are doing all the work in the clinic from washing/drying laundry, working with patients, scanning/explaining paperwork, cleaning the clinic, answering the phone and scheduling appointments. If you like a fast-paced environment with terrible pay and constant cleaning after others, this is the place for you!
