Robin is the WORST. The movers themselves were polite, albeit they made my whole house smell like weed (wow). My brother called to schedule the appointment and advised Robin he would handle the payment and would pay over the phone with a credit card. They called me a few days prior to confirm the appointment, which I confirmed. Robin then asked regarding payment form. My brother had advised me he was paying for the move. He advised me that he had told them that he was paying over the phone with credit card, including the 3% fee. I wasn't sure why Robin was asking me regarding payment. I didn't want to pay the 3% fee and was confused why I was being asked about it when she had been told that my brother was paying. I asked how much- she said she couldn't know that. I asked for an estimate. She was vague- offering $455-$900 range.
Moving day. Movers packed my things into the truck, stank up the house and we drove to the new house 3 miles away. They began unloading and then asked for payment. I told them that I understood my brother was paying. I called Robin again and advised that my brother was paying over the phone with credit card. She said she would call him. She called him. She called me back and told me he didn't answer. I told her I would call him myself. I called him and he said he would call her to pay over the phone. He called her and she said she would not accept his payment over the phone and that all moving would cease until they were paid! So they decided to sit in their truck for the next 20 minutes while I called Robin back and she changed her payment story AGAIN that she didn't have the total and that they COULD NOT accept credit card payment now and I'd have to pay in cash. What a witch. Need I mention- my brother had spoken to her no less than 5 times with addresses, details, etc and was VERY clear to her regarding payment. She advised him after the move that they would send him a bill! And now they were holding my things ransom in the truck, blocking my driveway, demanding cash! Fortunately, I had cash- only because I had to pay for a countertop right after the appointment. I asked for the total. I was told $694~. I gave $700 in cash. They moved in the things. Then brought in the invoice. I checked the math. They told me 2 hours minimum. It's a 3 HOUR MINIMUM. Also, they added wrong and the total was $635!
Shortly after posting my review, the owner of the company called me. He was urgent in his hopes to reconcile my opinion of his company and how to change my experience. I advised him that it was already finished and there was not a way to undo the unpleasantness that had transpired. It is an honest sentiment. He asked how to make it right. You know though, there isn't really a way to take back that kind of treatment of someone. He apologized on behalf of his employees. I recognize he is not capable of controlling every business aspect his employees perform and how they represent his company. He seems like a nice man. He offered to refund the entire move. I advised him that was not necessary, since the move had been performed, whether I was pleased with the people or not- the work had been completed and I believe that people should be paid for services rendered, whether or not you like them. The question is- was the job completed at the end to my satisfaction? Yes. My piano was moved and was not damaged. That was the goal. I did not feel I needed a refund and told him that. He insisted and asked for my address, then told me he was going to mail me a full refund and could look it up in the system or I could give it to him. I gave him my address. I said thank you. He offered his personal number for any future moves- that he would ensure nothing of my previous experience would happen again. I am very sure it wouldn't! He mailed me a refund and I cashed it. I called my brother and told him about the refund and about the owner's phone call. He said he should probably update some things online.
About a week later, the owner called to see if I had received the refund and reiterated that he wanted to be contacted directly should I require moving assistance again. He asked if I would consider changing my review. I promised to update it. A few days ago, he called again. Apparently, my brother- who is a software engineer and very internet savvy, had posted reviews all over the place regarding our experience. Tell the world, as you will, you know. I think perhaps Ms Robin underestimated how pissed off she made my brother when she decided to tell the drivers to hold my piano ransom with the clock running on the bill- since the move was supposed to be my birthday present. In any case- I called my brother and asked if he would update his reviews to reflect the contact with the owner. He said he would try to find them all and update them.
Here we are.. updating our reviews. Is my opinion changed? The owner genuinely cares about his reputation. I believe he did what he could to make things better. read more
