Dr. Grozalis saw me on time and had a nice demeanor for this first time patient. The most interesting part of his evaluation was seating me in a soundproof room, attaching headphones and handing me a handheld beeper to react whenever I heard sound/voice up and down the decibel chart. I was in there for 15 minutes as he took note of my deficiencies. There was definitely a mild hearing loss, and he recommended I see a medical specialist (ENT) to rule out any treatable medical condition before considering the option of a mechanical solution. Will do. Following up on his suggestion today. Why 4 out of 5? The testing seemed perfunctory and not particularly accurate and not every result was explained to me. Otherwise, I wasn't surprised by the outcome.

We discussed my history and how I came finally get hearing aids. Olivia has extensive knowledge of the different hearing aid brands and where each have their strengths and weaknesses. A couple years after I started seeing her, she recommended I upgrade to a different brand--one that would be better suited for my type of hearing loss, and would provide a better hearing experience. She explained many of the options, and why she was selecting this particular brand and model. Hearing aids can be quite expensive, and I was reluctant, but went ahead, and I'm glad I did. I feel Olivia went out of her way during the fitting period (and after) to make sure that I was getting the most out of the aids. We tweaked, and would talk to hear the effects of the changes. We would talk about certain words, sounds, environments, etc that were problems for me, and she would either tweak my settings or programs. She always told me to call and come in if the recent changes were not helpful. She also scheduled six month visits to check in and make sure things were going as they should. It's obvious to me that she's passionate about Audiology and her client's hearing. I don't feel like just another appointment. I know she's going to treat me like I was her only appointment for the day. In addition to being very knowledgeable about the actual aids, she is very attune to the effects of hearing loss and we've had discussions about how to be aware of my environment, the other noises around me and how I can make little changes to get the most out of my hearing aids and improve my quality of life.

She had no consideration for the fact that I am the one who is living with the hearing loss not her. At one point I had to stop her rant on how I was being totally irresponsible in not getting a hearing aid, only to be told not to interrupt her. This was not a discussion about my quality of life, this was a discussion about her selling me a hearing aid. I found out that she is out of network for my insurance coverage and wonder if that was the reason she was treating me with less consideration? The rest of the office Drs. and staff are as sweet as can be, yet, beware of her cocky and hostile attitude.

I wanted to hear people talking, not have volumes turned up loud and able to hear better when driving. Anyway, I get this flyer in the mail just in time from Miracle Ear in Bensalem, offering free screening and some other discounts. Made an appt - the person on the phone was very friendly and in addition, the staff and doctor were as well. First time visit was great. Hearing test results revealed my hearing loss in left ear was about the same (not good), but right ear was good. I spoke with Dr. Kyle, very friendly and took time to answer all my questions, and showed me the different hearing devices and payment options. OK, I was sold. I ordered a transmitter for the left ear and aid for the right. WHAT - I can hear again. And I continue to go for checkups to ensure the quality of aids are performing as they should. These visits are included with the price of the hearing aids. I even had my first hearing aid stop working properly and it was replaced free of charge. I definitely would recommend Miracle Ear on Rockhill Drive in Bensalem, PA. He also has other offices, but this location is very close for me. Went in for what turned out to be a neuralgia - the first doctor was nice but ineffective and the second (to whom I was switched without being asked) was flat out a jerk - didn't read my file, didn't look at me during appointment and examined me with unsterile instrument he picked up off a table. When he suggested "maybe it's allergies" (for my excruciating pain) and required yet another hearing test, that was it for me. High quality health care is about good doctors and good referrals - these people don't know anything and don't know anybody.
