In June of 2023 I called a contacted Acme through Yelp because I had filled out a "project" request. The request was to unlock a residential doorknob of a basement for a property that I managed. I spoke with Acme on the phone to set up a time for them to come out, at which time they gave me a quote for changing the lock. When the person arrived to change it (Mike), he was unable to get the lock opened and said it would have to be completely removed and replaced with a new lock (after, we were able to contact another locksmith who came out and successfully unlocked the doorknob). This was going to take the visit up to over $300 if they provided a lock. I consulted with the person I managed the property for and they wanted me to buy a lock instead of the using one Acme offered due to the price and inability to complete the job. When I informed Mike of this, he became very short and irritated, asking how long it was going to take, and was very inflexible. I once again consulted with the property manager, and due to the unprofessionalism of Mike, and how much the cost had gone up from the initial quote, he decided not to continue the service with Acme. The property owner contacted Acme, who were apologetic, stated we would not have to pay for the service, said they were "grateful" that I did not write a review of my experience. Now here we are, 10 months later and this week I receive a call from Acme. They said they were "clearing some files," found my invoice and were going to send it to me. This invoice was a $175 charge for a visit and labor fee. They also charge an additional 3% processing fee for payments after 10 days of the invoice. I was never informed of a trip fee that would be charged prior to the visit, or that it was expected to be cash on delivery of service. This is something I assumed would have been established when they gave me the quote. I can adamantly say I do not recommend Acme for locksmith services. The inflexibility of the person who came out to complete the work, the lack of transparency with the charges prior to the visit, and the fact that 10 months later they are now trying to charge me $175 speaks to the lack of integrity within the company.

My system was running well and did not need any service, when the Technician left, my system was not operating the same as when he started, My Central Air was not cooling my house and the system blower sounded different. I have lived in my house long enough to know how it sounds and feels, The person who worked on my system created the problem in order to create a service call and an unnecessary bill for a problem that he inserted. This is not the way to maintain customers or good reviews. If your service is not broken, the service person should not be out generating revenue. I was very concerned when he was measuring the amount of Freon as I heard a loud hiss as the vapors were being released. BTW, the same service person bypassed a safety cut-off device in my furnace last winter and, I had to buy the electrical device and reinstall it for the safety of my home. I am very dissatisfied with their procedures.

At my previous job I had to do a lot of advertising and marketing. Which meant I had to do a lot…read moreof printing. And of course when you think of large-scale printing and copying the most common thing that pops into your head is Kinko's. And that's not necessarily bad. Kinko's offers great services, but I always felt that maybe their prices were a bit on the high side, given that they're really the only printing services company with any widespread, national name recognition. I always thought there had to be another printer with prices that were a bit cheaper, but still had great customer service. Then one day I saw some amazing posters from a co-worker and asked where she had them done. She told me of another co-worker of mine whose father owned a printing company and did amazing work. So I talked to him, wondering why he had never said anything before. He didn't want there to be any type of conflict-of-interest, so he never mentioned it. But since I brought it up, now he could tell me all about it. And that's how I learned of KPB Commercial Printing. A small operation opened in 1994 by three individuals (the KPB stands for their last names...Kanet Pol & Bridges) this printer does tremendous work at great prices while providing stellar customer service. I used them strictly for printing posters, flyers, and an occasional banner (one time I did order wrists bands from them), but they do offer other services as well. You can create your own design and send it to them to be copied, or if you need the help, they have graphic designers on staff who will take your ideas and create the poster for you. As I mentioned before, the customer service was great. Basic orders such as posters and flyers are almost always done by the next day. And delivery is made by an employee of the company, usually one of the owners...usually Mr. Bridges. As a matter of fact I dealt directly with Mr. Bridges on almost every order I placed and as a customer I couldn't have been more pleased. Polite, courteous, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and always looking out for the best interest of his customers. On at least two occasions, he personally delivered a proof of a poster for my approval, when the easiest thing would have been to just e-mail a copy of what it looked like. Customer service doesn't get much better than that. When I first started doing business with KPB, nobody could beat their prices. After awhile though, they did start to inch up. Prices can be a little higher than normal (they are after all a small privately-owned company that has to compete with a corporate giant like Kinko's) but they are very reasonable. And the customer service and quality of the work is such that the extra pennies you spend are well worth it. It's a great company, with great employees, and great services. Tri-fecta!
