Several weeks ago I came in for an oil change and knew their was a problem with my exhaust system. Jay showed me the exhaust problem (corrosion and rust) and told me that he didn't do that kind of work and I needed to go to a muffler/exhaust place. Jay was thorough and efficient. I actually thought that his price was rather low and told him. I asked if I could give him a tip and he refused so I gave him a hug instead. I will gladly go back if I need a car repair

Because this is 1950, eye roll.. Jay is the real deal. Yes, Apna Garage is a modest shop tucked away behind a gas station. But how many mechanics have a legit 5 star Yelp rating? I'll wait.. The reason is because no-one is as honest, humble or as kind as Jay is. You can drop off your car which is very convenient. Jay diagnosed mine and explained everything in plain English without being patronizing. He's very responsive to messages, gave an honest assessment and didn't try to overcharge or upsell me. I requested a quote 10am Wednesday from three different local print shops. Sprint Print was the first to respond and with the best price. I placed the order around 5pm Wednesday and by 11am Thursday I was notified that the cards were ready for pick-up. Not only was this ridiculously fast, I received a call shortly after asking if I'd like to have them dropped off since they were passing the Emory area. Is this real life? I am seriously amazed. DJ Was my estimator and he was very helpful explaining how long it would take to complete the entire replacement service. The value was comparable to other replacement service I have received at other body shops. This shop is conveniently located in Avondale Estates. It was the location for me.

I chose DeKalb Collision since they easily had the best ratings on the list. I waited a few days for lot availability then DeKalb Collision arranged a same day tow. When I did the walk through with DJ, he said DeKalb Collision (like all the shops on the list) is a body and paint shop. That's fine if your car has external damage like a dent or bumper repair. But if there are mechanical issues like a noise or if it isn't driving the same, take it somewhere else. Otherwise, DeKalb Collision will do the body work and you'll have to take it to another shop for the internal issues anyway.. When I told DJ I'd rather take my car to a shop that could diagnose and fix everything, he said they'd take it to an alignment specialist. When I said I didn't think that was the issue and I'd rather take it to the dealer, DJ assured me that this was just the first step. They'd take it to a dealer if the alignment specialist couldn't resolve it.. DeKalb Collision got the alignment checked. Then they communicated directly with Allstate, I was not part of the conversation. DeKalb Collision told me the accident didn't cause the mechanical issues which they couldn't even diagnose. Allstate then said the internal repairs wouldn't be covered. In other words, Allstate was DeKalb Collision's customer, not me. Also, communication was terrible. DeKalb Collision never returned calls as promised. So even though they'd had my car for two weeks I had to call daily for five days while they made excuses such as not having the required paperwork or "Allstate's permission" before they even started repairs. TIP - If you're in an accident and it isn't your fault, get a police report, choose your own shop and let the other driver's insurance company reimburse you. Better yet, call an attorney. Don't naively believe the insurance company will do the right thing. Overall, DeKalb Collision took three weeks to repair my bumper which they admitted didn't take long to fix. I do not recommend.

I went to Pure on the recommendation of three childhood friends who still live here. They ALL said to go to Pure. I grew up in Decatur and left for grad school many years ago. I recently returned after living in four states during my career. I have always had three criteria when I make a move to a new location, and they have served me well. Find: 1. A Doctor you can relate to and trust. 2. Someone who gives a great haircut. 3. An auto mechanic you can trust and who does great work. I've found #3 in Decatur Pure Station. After my early check-in, I sat in the waiting area for about two hours, watching and listening to the manager interacting with customers. My observations? Friendly, matter-of-fact, clear. Andy explained everything going on with his client's cars. He made recommendations, and more importantly, noted what didn't need to be done. He gave accurate representations about when services would be completed. For my car, he got the part quickly and told me they had looked over the whole car and only found one repair that needed to be made (besides my originating situation). He was accurate in his honesty, because I already knew I was needing a new rear brake job in the next month. While my car was being repaired, I walked around downtown Decatur. I reacquainting myself with some old, and mostly new, businesses and restaurants. I arrived back at the repair shop in the mid-afternoon, just after they finished repairing the car. Andy explained everything they did, and gave me a very fair price for the service I received. Am I ever glad to have found Pure. Five Stars, and even higher.
