Im a mechanic and fabricator and normally don't let anyone touch my ring but me but I only had a basic set of hand tools with me, no drills or bits, no jack stands, nothing I needed to make the repairs so I had little choice. I thought we had lucked out when we found Wesdak, they said they could take a look at it and possibly bandaid it back together while i got the right parts coming. They started the work, while they were working I was on the phone getting the right parts ordered. We went back and forth on a plan. They were going to make it safe to drive while the stud kit came. I spent $250 getting the right parts next day aired from LA. I went to install the studs only to find out they had run the wrong bolts in with an impact gun, ruining the threads and any chance I had of saving the knuckle. I had to pay someone else to weld the knuckle in place so we could continue our trip safely. I called the shop, I left a message for the owner, the mechanic called me, he was very apologetic and said "they" would make it right by giving me a partial refund to cover the cost of the new knuckle $250. I was out $650 at that point. To shorten this up. I never received anything from them, repeated phone calls and texts have gone unreturned. The owner never even had the guts to call me, he made his mechanic do it. I appreciated their willingness to help me out but the attention to detail wasn't anywhere close being that this was a critical part of the steering. Their welding looked ok, but I would avoid them for mechanical work. They don't stand behind their work and won't return phone calls if you have a problem.

DJ's was recommended by an auto parts place and Ski was able to get parts shipped to him from out of state and had us back on the road. He is one of the most honest and hard working mechanics I have ever met. He kept me informed on the progress and showed and explained all the repairs that needed to be done. I wish he was closer to my home, I would use him for all my auto repairs. One more thing, Ski called me a couple days after the repair to check on us and make sure we made it home alright.

They had the parts in stock and came out to the RV park the next morning. He replaced both vent covers and also pointed out that there was some cracking in the caulking on the roof. He showed me pictures and offered to clean and repair the affected areas while he was here. He was very friendly and helpful while he was here, including suggesting an easy upgrade to the vents themselves available on Amazon.

When we entered Newcastle we knew we better pull over and call our rental company. After some over the phone diagnostics with them, they called around and found Outlaw Motors who had the diagnostic tool that would hopefully find out our issues. Outlaw Motors agreed to hook us up to their diagnostic tool immediately (we were 1.5 miles away) and work us in for repairs that same day, if what was wrong with us was something they could repair. John came out immediately and hooked us up to his diagnostic computer. Our van was in worse shape than expected. He got 19 codes on his computer, and said there was another page. He'd clear them, and then some of them would freeze up his computer and he'd have to reboot. It quickly became apparent that he wouldn't have the ability to help our ancient van with too many miles and too many problems. He helped us formulate a game plan to get to Gillette to a dealership, avoiding highways, letting us know there was cell service along the way (had we tried to go to Casper, we'd have had hilly road and cell service issues if the van broke down). He also said with it being a bigger town we could have a better chance at staying in a hotel overnight (or more!) while we awaited repairs. He also coordinated with our van rental company to get us on the road. Based on our experience I'd wholeheartedly recommend Outlaw Motors for any repair or tire services. They have a big sign for Cooper Tires which is a brand I've always had good luck with and has great tire warranty service.

I stopped in and was greeted by the owner, Troy. He wasn't sure if he could help or not, but asked me to wait so he could at least get his mechanics opinion. John, his mechanic, stopped what he was working on and had me pull my bike in a open bay. He looked it over, confessed that he didn't have the equipment to "properly" replace my valve stem that had weathered and sprung a leak. However, with some creative outside the box thinking, felt he could get it replaced and me back on the road. I wondered up front and met Troy's wife, Melissa, who was running the front counter. She was incredibly, warm, friendly and full of conversation. I learned about how their family business has been there for quite some time and before I knew it John approached letting me know my tire repair was complete! The other places in town wouldn't even give me a second thought. Then I strolled into Outlaw Motors and met an amazing team of folks that were determined to help. I can't thank this business enough for getting me back on the road!!! On a separate note, as I wondered around during the repair, I found they have a large selection of classic vehicles for sale.
