For the past few weeks I had been having severe nausea lasting several hours at a time as well as occasional sharp pains in my upper chest when I went to see her. She knew my neurologist has been treating me for migraines and also that I'm taking a generic over-the-counter pill that includes 250 mg. of aspirin which, if I'm having two headaches in one day, is 1000 mg. Although she is ordering an ultrasound to make sure it's not my gallbladder causing my health issues, she feels that the amount of aspirin I am taking (until the once-a-month shot my neurologist has just prescribed for me takes effect), is causing my extreme nausea and pain. She has prescribed Prilosec and as she said what she thought is causing my problem it immediately made sense to me. And her young assistant and office staff are just as attentive and helpful as Dr. Nasir.

He provided thorough care and explained to both of us the best ways to treat the problem. He even took extra time to look up my records from last year to clarify a question my primary doctor had about that visit. Lack of Care: I felt that the staff at FastMed did not prioritize my care and were more concerned with casual conversations. High Cost and Inappropriate Prescription: I was charged $50 for a PA visit and received a prescription for a brand-name medication that was not covered by insurance, costing $425. I looked up the prescription and it comes in generic. But the PA was not concerned about updating the medication to the generic. Patient's Condition: I was very sick with a fever and needed medication immediately. Pharmacy Contact: I even provided the PA with the contact information for their pharmacy (Walgreens, 6 Forks Rd., phone number 919-787-1155) and asked them to call directly. PA's Incompetence: The PA failed to read the patient's notes, causing a delay in treatment despite my urgent condition. Medical Experience: I had trouble getting critical medicine and reaching the "PA's" office. Appointment Policy: Most medical facilities have a policy where if someone is more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, they have to reschedule 24 hours in advance or pay a fee. The policy should go both ways. Recommended Doctor: I hugely recommend Capital Family Medicine and Dr. Short.

If you have a child experiencing appendicitis like symptoms, take them to the pediatric ER. My son was having pain in his right side and we went to AFC Urgent Care. We waited for 30 minutes and were seen by someone at AFC Urgent Care, not sure if she was a Dr or PA or nurse - she asked about symptoms. She barely pushed on his right side no gloves and announced that they were unable to go further as they didn't have a CT machine and she was required to refer us to the ER. After waiting at the ER for 4 hours, he had a CT scan and were referred to the pediatric ER. The bills of all these visits are piling up. I called AFC with this suggestion: Anyone at AFC could have explained at reception that they could not diagnose ANY appendicitis like symptoms and we could have saved $100 on our copay. They said a medical professional has to do that - so wanted everyone else to be aware of this highway robbery.
