Danny at the skate counter dialed me in with some great recommendations and a clean build. There were plenty of ready to roll complete decks there for a great value, but there's nothing quite like piecing something together off the wall, unwrapping the unblemished deck from the plastic, and building it on the spot with some grip tape fresh off the roll. Seeing less than a 5 star average for a shop that has been great to everyone in my circle since elementary school was an unacceptable sight for me, so I felt compelled to write this.

When I questioned it, I was told the price had increased. However, the moment I began taking photos, the explanation changed immediately. Suddenly, the price was back to $2, and instead of correcting the overcharge, I was offered an extra drink. I declined and simply asked for my $3 back. What should have been a straightforward correction turned into an uncomfortable interaction, marked by an arrogant, dismissive attitude and a complete lack of basic courtesy or accountability. There was no apology at any point. If pricing only becomes accurate when questioned, that raises serious concerns. Visitors to Santa Barbara deserve better. Double-check your total before paying.

I was pedal commuting around the local area and…read moredropped off my single speed bicycle for a chain replacement that they advised me would take about an hour before they could start and finish it. They called me while I was walking around accomplishing other errands and reported that the entire drive train needed replacement (not a surprise as the bike is 20 years old with many thousands of miles on it - the drivetrain was oem excepting the chain). They also said parts were available and the job could be complete the following day. I explained that I needed the bike to get home. They offered to adjust their schedule and complete the task within an hour and a half. They did this and now the bike rides perfect!

When I went to there a few days later, with her, I realized I had never been there. I saw a 50% off sign and started shopping for deals. First was new shorts, flip flops (or whatever the kids are calling them these days) and a hat. The employees were nice and let me roam. The place was clean and very orderly. I ended up needing to return the shorts and it was easy but I they only give store credit or gift card. Didn't bother me as I quickly found something to get. I'll definitely be back because I am not going to wait another 20 years to buy swim shorts...don't judge, my last ones were very well made.
