I am not sure, but this might be the only place to get leather cleaned in this town. The place is hard to find without a gps or google maps. It's in a strip mall with other stores, in a quiet, almost residential area just north and west of downtown. I think.

I might consider coming back here since they did a pretty good job on my winter jackets and…read moredelicate sweaters. Everything was neatly pressed and although they were unable to remove a small but rather annoying stain on one of my jackets (the stain has been there awhile so I don't think it could have been helped), they were kind and professional enough to leave a note on the item indicating so, explaining it may have damaged the color or material if they tried to. Prices are competitive and you can probably find frequent deals on Groupon as other Yelpers here have indicated. That's how I found it. That being said, I have heard that businesses who go through discount deal sites like Groupon tend to get overwhelmed with the influx of customer demand, and then customer service can sometimes suffer a bit. I think that was the case here when I dropped off my dry-cleaning, because the girl who took my items did not smile at all, not even a tired or forced smile. She looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there, and I could have sworn she even rolled her eyes upward when I stammered after she asked for my address. I just thought she was checking if I was in the system, and I wanted to explain I wasn't because I was a new customer and so I hesitated. But she didn't have to roll her eyes at me! Either way, she did hear me when I asked her to make a special note of the stain, so at least she was listening. The man who helped me when I came for pick-up was much friendlier, thank goodness. If he was just as crabby I think I would have run far from this place! A couple tips if you decide to test it out -- you pay first on drop-off, not pick-up and they can recycle your dry-cleaning hangers.

From the first contact, things were different than we were used to - and it was wonderful. A video call to let them get a sense of house and size. When they arrived, they checked in and asked if we had any specific areas of focus we wanted them to look at. We said no, just a solid, deep, thorough cleaning. My goodness did they deliver. It's clear Christine holds herself and her team to a very high standard - any and everything we were hoping would be done was done. The house literally sparkled and shined. Add to that they not only worked around our animals, but also our schedule - what's not to love? Also Christine's attitude is so refreshing - I often feel the need to explain things ("We're busy execs so we don't have time to...") and her response was perfect. She said essentially Hot Mess are there to deal with whatever you don't want to, judgement free. Finally, before booking with them, we did our due diligence - that they carry insurance, WCB, etc speaks to the fact they are consummate professionals. Based on our first experience with Hot Mess - we've selected them as ou new, regular cleaner.

It's just that these shops look so cute on the outside! Windscape is actually a cute, bright yellow house, so if you didn't notice the sign outside you'd think it was actually someone's house. The basement might be, but the top floor is where the shop is located. It's small and cozy, stocked with sophisticated casual and business wear for women 50+, I would say. Seriously, my grandmother would love this place. While I can't wear the clothes here, I drool over the jewelry. There's never an age limit when it comes to jewelry! I fell in love with a handcrafted silver ring from Israel. They have stunning pieces here, and you'll probably have a hard time finding similar stuff elsewhere. I also saw some recycled silk bags that were a lot cheaper than what I had paid for mine somewhere else (don't you hate it when that happens?). Windscape also does custom work too, if a customer wanted a custom-made outfit especially for her. Pretty cool, if this was my demographic. But for now, at least there's the jewelry.

Windscape carries quite a few Canadian designers, and I frequently get compliments from total strangers when I wear some of the pieces I purchased there. As an added bonus, the lady (I think it's the owner) who runs the store is also a seamstress, so if something needs tailoring, she is able to pin it and have it altered right on site. One stop shopping! I also find the price point quite reasonable.

And she will take the time to carefully consider how an item can be altered, pinning and repinning and measuring to get it just right. However. She is almost never at her shop anymore. Her secondary business, the Dang Good restaurant next door (which really is, dang good haha), has taken over as the primary business. As such, I often go to pick up my items on the pre-determined date, to find that little (more often, nothing) has been done. Perhaps this is just a North American trait that I expect things to be completed by the time we've previously agreed on? I have tried to rectify this by calling in advance to see if my items are ready for pick-up, but I've realized that because she isn't often in the shop, she doesn't always get my messages in time. As mentioned, I really like and appreciate the alterations Kim does, but the service has been so inconsistent over the past year (so many wasted trips out there - I don't want to wait for several months to get my alterations back anymore) that I don't think I will burden her with my clothes until she's back to alterations full-time.
