Beautiful venue. We went to their Juneteenth event and it was amazing. Would recommend! Parking is a bit tight but try to arrive early to find street parking or a garage nearby if you don't want valet service.

Enjoyed a great afternoon show at orchestra hall. It was a smaller chamber concert so not the full orchestra later but still very enjoyable and they picked really unique interesting pieces to play. I parked in the lot that's connected by skyway which made it convenient. Some of my Friends it was their first time going. Also I love the complimentary lockers to hang coats up in. I look forward to coming back again!

Absolutely LOVE the orchestra every time we go. What a great occasion to get dressed up and enjoy the talented folks who keep music alive! Upon our arrival from the skyway we were greeted with a photo opportunity to take a photo in a "snow globe", what a cute way to make a great memory! As we headed downstairs the orchestra was all decorated with holiday themed hard and there were multiple bars and food stations for our evening. They are full service bars so feel free to order mixed drinks. The prices are a little steep but it is downtown. My favorite part are the support of the ushers, they are always so kind and helpful. Also, did you know that there are lockers to hang your coats? Definitely take advantage of this feature in the side halls if you don't want to fold your bulky coat under the seat- the lockers are free and have wooden hangers to keep your items! Then just take the key with you into the hall. We saw many folks miss this so sharing the educational so you can truly get a luxury experience! The orchestra has been doing a variety of events lately- not just music. On our 4th time back we have seen live acrobatics and this time we watched a live musical performance of the screening of Back to the future! A real joy! We will happily come back to support this org any time!

Get off that couch and put down your mobile. Minneapolis has TED yes the short amazing talks that stimulate your mind and spark conversions. This is a great event to learn and explore and quench your hunger for knowledge and curiosity. This event was held at the beautiful Orchestra Hall. If your just not interested in Tedx then come go to thier website and check out some of thier amazing events, they have something for everyone. Or take a stroll around the area and bring your kids to cool off on a hot day I had a blast and for those of you that know me, I would not recommend something that I think sucks. Come see me next year @TEDx Minneapolis 2024 if your interested in Tedx. If you don't know now!

I love Orchestra Hall. They have a huge variety of shows- from classical to performing with pop stars to playing movie soundtracks while you watch the movie. The Orchestra is world class and beautiful to listen to, and if there's something you might want to see there, don't hesitate- just go.

Went here for an opening party and I thought it was an awesome venue. The multi-floor approach created a nice separation where you could have different activation areas throughout.

I live orchestra hall. I went for a screening of Frozen with the full orchestra. I was brought to tears many times. The orchestra is so incredibly talented and then experience is jaw dropping. Such a fun afternoon with friends and loved seeing all the kids dressed up! Parking is so easy in the attached garage. Lots of options in the concessions and I never have to wait too long for the bathroom. All around would recommend.

What a great night! Harry Potter and the orchestra. The hall was packed. Covid restrictions were in place. Negative test or fully vaccinated and masks throughout. No food or beverage in orchestra hall so no reason to remove the mask. The movie is ine of my favorites and hearing the orchestra play during the production was a bonus. Upcoming in April they are doing the next Star Wars and in August they are doing Fantasia. We sit in the balcony. We like being up a bit higher. It is a casual affair, not so dressy as an orchestra concert. Drinks were available outside. We had dinner at Brits pub. And walked over Valet parking is available for $25.

    Movie and an orchestra

I'll start off by saying I'm not a classical music connoisseur but I have always appreciated the skill and precision of the very talented musicians. That said, the MN Orchestra has found a wonderful way to fully engage me. I've attended a couple of movies played here with a live orchestra. Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story were shown with the orchestra playing all music and sound effects. If you have never seen this, I highly suggest you try it. You will be surprised how much more engaging the movie becomes and have fun with the many ways sound effects are made with the instruments. You really appreciate how much the music helps tell the story. Most recently I attended the Joyful Echoes performance. This performance combined instrumental music with singing and storytelling. It was wonderful. I'm positive I've never laughed so hard I cried at any concert ever. The stories highlighted the diversity of traditions and culture in a funny, engaging, and thoughtful way. The talents of these artists were appreciated and contributed to a festive holiday spirit. Merry Christmas Minnesota Orchestra.

I happened to be in town for work and the one evening I had free, there was a performance of Beethoven's Pastoral. The opening movement was moonlight sonata on piano that nearly had me in tears. How can this piece be so beautifully played with passion? If you have a chance to see a performance, I highly recommend it! It's a lovely venue.

This is a high-quality venue for high-quality musical performances. Over the years I've probably seen a couple dozen performances here, and there has never been anything but world-class musicianship on display. (Except, if I'm being honest, this last time - October 2, 2019 - there was someone in the brass section that made numerous loud mistakes.) Although you can often see visiting musicians at Orchestra Hall, it's mostly thought of as the home of the Minnesota Orchestra. They routinely put together a season of classical concerts that have a lot of variety, and they go to great lengths to stretch the definition of what a live classical music experience should be like. They will have family-friendly concerts with interactive activities worked into the show, programs that include informative lectures about the music and the composers, even music-infused yoga classes. Recently they've been doing "film in concert" performances, where they literally screen a movie on a big screen above the orchestra, but they've taken the music track out of the movie and instead the orchestra plays that music live. When a movie has really great orchestral music, to see it with the music performed live is an incredible experience. I've seen them do it with West Side Story, E.T., and the first two Star Wars movies and I highly recommend doing this. (You'll want to scope out their calendar & get the tickets well in advance. These performances are popular.) They completed a significant renovation to the building in 2013 which makes the whole facility very attractive and spacious. I don't think they changed much inside the actual auditorium, but the lobby and exterior all look really good now. Tickets are not cheap. Approximately twice as much as a Guthrie ticket, I'd estimate. My recommendation is to get balcony tickets. They are cheaper, but you're there for music, and the acoustics are such that the sound quality from the balcony seating is still excellent... maybe even better than on the main floor. Plus, if you're interested in actually watching the musicians, the view is better because you're looking down on them. From the main floor, your view is mostly limited to the front row of the orchestra. Parking is also, well, it's Downtown Minneapolis, so you'll pay at least ten dollars to park nearby. The ramp that is connected to Orchestra Hall might seem convenient, but if it's a popular show it takes FOREVER to get out. I recommend not using that ramp. I've started looking for street parking or cheaper lots a couple of blocks away, and it's worked out much better. Valet parking is also an option. Caveats aside, if you want to hear great-sounding classical music you should look into a fancy evening here. Especially one of the "film in concert" things. But also other stuff. But I hope they fix their wonky brass section.

Orchestra Hall is my go to option for a night out downtown. The music is fabulous and never disappoints. I especially love their Movies and Music series where they play the live score to a movie playing on the big screen! They've played a Harry Potter movie each year for the last few years, and we just went to see the Half Blood Prince! The music was hauntingly beautiful, they had Photo Booths set up before the show, and the cocktails in the atrium were delicious!

    Very spacious balcony seating

My first time experiencing the orchestra and it didn't disappoint. I took advantage of the special offer to guests under 40 years of age offering a $20 ticket. There were plenty of seats to choose from for this offer on the main floor and balcony seats. It's a beautiful modern building that has a spacious layout that's easily maneuverable. There are plenty of concession areas for snacks and drinks plus you can pre order drinks for easy pick up without the line. The event staff was delightfully polite and more than helpful with any questions or requests. It made for a great night and I will for sure be to another orchestra performance.

The seats are extremely tight, not much leg room and a bit uncomfortable after a while. I feel like the guides weren't very helpful at getting people to their seats. I I'm still not sure where they label the sections, I had to ask several people and that made some other people realize they were in the wrong seats/section. The lobby opens 1 hr before the show but the doors to be seated don't open until 30 min prior. I suggest getting there 15-20 min before the show starts for smoother entry. You will still have time to grab a drink and find your seats without the hassle of the pre show crowd. It was so chaotic. The drinks are spendy for what you get but they don't take tips so I guess it somewhat evens out. You can request a lid for your drink which for me is a must in these crowded spaces. Not my fav theatre but the if there's a play I'd like to see, I'd go here!

The Illusion Theater is housed on the 8th floor of the Hennepin Center for the Arts, which is also home to Zenon Dance Company, Minneapolis Musical Theatre, and many other performing art companies. The building itself was constructed in 1888 and originally housed a Masonic Temple; it now appears on the National Register of Historic Places and is a beautiful example of preserving architectural gems for functional use. The stage at the Illusion is an "end-on" or proscenium space with audience members facing the performance straight on. There's plenty of parking around the theater, but if there's an event going on in the area, look for parking east of Hennepin--you'll save a bundle.
