They have a number of locations throughout the borough, but this Forest Hills location is among their busiest. It's been under some much needed renovation as of this summer and will hopefully be an even better facility for the community. While their mission to help enrich the greater Queens community has always been at the forefront, their work during the pandemic has been especially noble: they provided and partnered with local businesses to help distribute meals to those in need, provided aid to the homeless, and services for new immigrants. There's a lot more that they've done that I've missed, but that's just some of the ways they're doing good for all. I used to think this was like a local YMCA or children's center, but they really help individuals of all ages. In addition to childcare, they also have programs for teens and adults, and programming to help empower folks in the workforce. In addition, they have programs for after-school activities, LGBTQ youth, free English classes, and venue space for those who are looking to host for special occasions. They're always looking for new volunteers and for families / individuals in need of aid / assistance.

They are from my first meeting an outstanding organization that is trying to achieve great things for not only Latino and Africans, but overall low income people. They have definitely achieved a lot and seems like more things are just around the corner. When I entered it was kind of hectic due to their program called fifteen for fifteen. Which was a rally that they were going to do on April fifteen to raise the wage of commercial fast food chains workers to fifteen dollars. Hey if Chicago can do it why not here? Maybe overall as a whole nation? They had for the rally free food that they were bringing in so that they can box it to give out to the people coming. But that is not even the tip of the ice berg, one of the workforce personal I met even told me they do things such as try to fight to lower the medical bills of their members if it is that bad. They are really doing all they can to help immigrants do better here in the US. Now their building is pretty cool. It is bright and full of stuff. As soon as you enter you see good amounts of South American flags which adds a pop to the sign they have. You see cut out pages of Hispanic papers, that I am assuming shows headlines of something significant they did, on the walls that are framed. There rooms are not that big which is saying a lot because from what it looked like at least three co workers are in a room. The craziest thing is for all the different programs they have all the rooms are the same size. That is saying a lot for what they have accomplished with such minimal space. They had on some rooms adults learning English, or at least I an assuming that; while what looked like to me a little kids education center. They had a presentation room where I was sitting that was big and spacious. The place was chaotic but you expect nothing less from such a big organization.

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER. I would recommend this worker center to anyone and also wish I'd known about…read moreit sooner! I used the NICE worker center for a punch list of furniture removal and handy work around my apartment last week - I need to dismantle and remove a large wooden storage closet, mount a tv, hang several (heavy, glass) pieces and install/move shelving, move some items, etc. There were a variety of jobs, each of which was completed professionally, quickly, and with real care for the quality of the results. Two workers came and negotiated a very fair price (so "fair" that I actually upped their compensation by the end of the day) and they committed to the entire list, which they finished despite unforeseen challenges with hardware, equipment, and really difficult installation spaces in my apartment. They had tools and were really creative about finding workarounds where necessary. My apartment is also in an old, slanted building on a high floor (walk up) and they took a ton of time to make sure that everything was both level and attractive. The two men (Miguel and Edgar) were really wonderful - I think Miguel can fix/make/install anything. They took obvious pride in heir work but also offered me a lot of comfort that a job was being well done - even better than I had expected. They were prompt, consummate professionals, and incredibly helpful. And they worked really hard, completing the entire agreed list even though it took far longer than any of us expected. Can't recommend these guys enough.

A friend of mine told me she rents a table for the flea market and has been asking me to stop by. For a $25.00 fee, they peddle their wares -- forty to fifty tables full of new and used unique goods, lit by a stunningly beautiful chandelier adorned by four smaller satellite illuminators. The second floor room is beautiful! It mainly seemed to be people selling things they no longer wanted, costume jewelry, books, glassware, clothes - one lady did manage to find a stunning fur coat. They apparently hold Saturday night dances, I saw a flyer for one advertising Latin & Italian oldies, classics, and Top 40 from 8pm-12am with food, coffee, tea, dessert, and alcohol. I would love to see the crowd that comes out for that! This is a community center, so you can rent space or give money to various fundraisers they hold, all in all it's a great local resource.

Awesome night for Charity!…read more I've lived in Queens for a majority of my life and never knew about this event that's been going on for 26 years. Maybe it wasn't always as grand in the past but this was a pretty nice turnout for a chilly and rainy Tuesday night. There were lots of food, an awards presentation for chef of the year, gaming tables and many interesting items up for auction all for charity, all of which went off without a hitch, at least from my perspective. There was a little of everything as far as the food was concerned, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Ethiopian, Filipino, American, Thai, etc,.... Gluten free options for dessert were also in the house! The range of options was incredible and better yet, all the restaurant servers were great. I personally liked that rich Italian Bolognese, the Indian Samosas/desserts, and that fantastic bite sized Mango Panna Cotta. I honestly couldn't have taken another bite for the evening. After I was done eating, I went over to the gambling tables and perused the many charitable items up for silent auction. There were a couple of things I was interested in including the autographed sport memorabilia. I even ended up winning a Carmine's restaurant branded basket with a gift card, pasta, and sauces which was pretty cool! Shout out to Queens Center for Progress (QCP) for a fantastic evening. The overall mood for the night was so festive. Specials thanks to Shaun Caruana for my tickets and for holding my Carmine's basket for me! Thanks to our Yelp CM Sam for organizing this event for Yelpers. This is one of the few times where doing something good for the community and having a good time intersect. I didn't know what to expect, but loved the cause as I am an occupational therapist and this population is near and dear to my heart. It was a very rainy night, but thankfully my husband and I drove. Check-in was pretty smooth and we got upstairs and entered a grand room with 2 sub-level sides and a large opening in the center for all the auction tables. Tables to sit and eat were on the sub levels and the food rounded the edges. There was a casino section where you could play black Jack and roulette to win tickets for a raffle. They had a photo booth and tons of generous vendors. Tables were labeled and Yelp had a few small round tables that we ended up sharing with some other Yelpers :) There was so much that we didn't get to try everything, but I was happy to see Glaze Donuts, which are so yum, and enjoyed the chocolates and so much more! Didn't end up having enough time to look around at the auctions, but hope they raised a lot of money! We enjoyed ourselves and had a nice time. Would love to experience this again! Thank you Yelp and QCP for the opportunity to win these tickets! We are grateful! :)
