They are from my first meeting an outstanding organization that is trying to achieve great things for not only Latino and Africans, but overall low income people. They have definitely achieved a lot and seems like more things are just around the corner. When I entered it was kind of hectic due to their program called fifteen for fifteen. Which was a rally that they were going to do on April fifteen to raise the wage of commercial fast food chains workers to fifteen dollars. Hey if Chicago can do it why not here? Maybe overall as a whole nation? They had for the rally free food that they were bringing in so that they can box it to give out to the people coming. But that is not even the tip of the ice berg, one of the workforce personal I met even told me they do things such as try to fight to lower the medical bills of their members if it is that bad. They are really doing all they can to help immigrants do better here in the US. Now their building is pretty cool. It is bright and full of stuff. As soon as you enter you see good amounts of South American flags which adds a pop to the sign they have. You see cut out pages of Hispanic papers, that I am assuming shows headlines of something significant they did, on the walls that are framed. There rooms are not that big which is saying a lot because from what it looked like at least three co workers are in a room. The craziest thing is for all the different programs they have all the rooms are the same size. That is saying a lot for what they have accomplished with such minimal space. They had on some rooms adults learning English, or at least I an assuming that; while what looked like to me a little kids education center. They had a presentation room where I was sitting that was big and spacious. The place was chaotic but you expect nothing less from such a big organization.

My SCRIE took almost 6 months into 2024 to get renewed and the handling of my efforts to get a rent redetermination have so far been a complete failure. They do not always keep appointments so call before you go there. I had an appointment for help with my SNAP at the Pomonack Senior center on Kissena Blvd and the guy, Francisco, didn't even show up for it.

In terms of a non-profit, it's hard not to get behind the initiatives of Queens Community House…read more(QCH). They have a number of locations throughout the borough, but this Forest Hills location is among their busiest. It's been under some much needed renovation as of this summer and will hopefully be an even better facility for the community. While their mission to help enrich the greater Queens community has always been at the forefront, their work during the pandemic has been especially noble: they provided and partnered with local businesses to help distribute meals to those in need, provided aid to the homeless, and services for new immigrants. There's a lot more that they've done that I've missed, but that's just some of the ways they're doing good for all. I used to think this was like a local YMCA or children's center, but they really help individuals of all ages. In addition to childcare, they also have programs for teens and adults, and programming to help empower folks in the workforce. In addition, they have programs for after-school activities, LGBTQ youth, free English classes, and venue space for those who are looking to host for special occasions. They're always looking for new volunteers and for families / individuals in need of aid / assistance.

We took Thor in last year around end of May. I couldn't get an appointment for my dog on the same day so they gave me an app for the next day. I asked if they could do the surgery on both dogs the same day so I don't have to take another day off. They said the couldn't. The day I took my daughters dog for a consult. They gave me an estimate. I explained what I wanted and what I didn't want done. They gave me a surgery date for a week later. The next day that I toook my dog, Kai, they charged us for the consult and said they would get back to us with a quote and a surgery date. The day of my daughters dogs surgery went well. He had a huge skin tag on his back paw that was starting to impede his walking. He had it done. We picked him up and he's been great. My daughter paid the bill and when I looked they charged her for the things I said we didn't want. Then a week later I reached out by text asking about my dogs quote and a refund for the amount that shouldn't have been charged on my daughters dog. This went on every week to every two weeks of the back and forth. Finally in December I said that My dogs cyst is getting too big and I need to know if they are gonna do it and when were they going to refund my daughter. They responded that his cyst got too big now. Which it wasn't when I originally took him. Ok fine. I get that but why do I have to wait for a refund for so long. It's gonna be a year now and still no refund. I have the texts as well as the copy of the bill that she was overcharged. I am thankful for what they did to Thor because he can finally walk without blessing but the rest is just so unprofessional and illegal to hold money that isn't theirs.

The entire staff was incredible from the doctor to the receptionist and everyone in between. They really care about the animals they treat and were sensitive to my anxiety as well.
