I was such a fan of the service I got here when I got my keratin extensions 6 months ago. I moved to NYC and cannot get to NJ to get my extensions removed so I went to a different salon in the city . My new hairstylist asked that I call Mink and get the brand of hair extensions that they used to ensure that her keratin removal solution would work on them. I called Mink and asked for the brand of hair extensions I used and the workers stated that they can't disclose the brand to me. When I questioned why they would not be able to disclose the name of the brand to me, they said it is "their policy" that they can't reveal what brand they use. While your policy may be not to disclose the brand, it is the law to give full disclosure of the products you use to the costumer who paid for it. If your customer had a reaction to what you used, would you still not disclose the brand of hair extensions? Now I have to make an appointment with this new salon and hope their keratin solution removal will work. This new salon, by the way, gave me full disclosure of the brand of keratin extensions that they use there which is Great Lengths. Basically I paid a grand last month to put something in my hair and I am not even allowed to know what it is. read more

Can I just say, this is the best salon in Bergen County. The two owners, Paula and Daisy, are the most talented people I know. My 4 sisters and I have gone to them for almost 10 years. They take pride in their work and never disappoint. They are so accommodating, hardworking, and caring. They're not your average salon, the second you walk in they make you feel more than welcomed. These girls take such good care of you when every visit, they radiate such a warming presence. Paula also cuts my dads hair and ever since, he says he will never trust a barber with scissors! Got my haircut here before a wedding and the girl that did my hair was INCREDIBLE. I gave her a vague idea of how I wanted it cut and she by far exceeded my expectations! Everyone here knows exactly what will work for you and your hair and is honest about it which I loved! I'd rather a professional tell me what to do than me say what my normal cut is and them doing it even when it's clearly wrong for me. Best of all - she did a blowout that looked stunning! Normally I just get my crazy curly hair straightened after a cut, but she suggested a blow out with soft curls and I went with it. And it looked GORGEOUS. I visited Mink a few years ago and had a few good cuts. Then after one blow out, I washed my hair and it began breaking and falling out. I went to the salon and was very calm, not pointing fingers but needing help.. the owner was very defensive and just kept saying we didn't do this, not our fault. They put conditioner in my hair but would not cut it, they were busy to be fair. They said they would call me the next day to check in.. no phone call. My hair was in terrible condition, not sure what happened, but they did not want to help is the biggest issue. In addition, another friend who didn't want to write a review, had a bad color experience, her hair was so burnt she had to find another salon to correct. read more

Stylist's always tried to up sell me or made me feel bad about the box dye I used on my hair. However Mink is a breath of fresh air. While the salon is chic I never felt judged. I felt 100% comfortable the entire time. My stylist Christine was AWESOME!! She really took the time to listen to what I wanted, offered various suggestions and never pushed me for added services. I went to Mink because of the other Yelp reviews and boy the experience exceeded my expectations. I was attending a wedding and wanted to get a blowout, eyebrow tinting and eyebrow shaping. Daisy did my hair and my hair is not easy. She did an amazing blowout. Even though the weather was rainy my normally curly hair stayed beautiful not just that night but the next day as well. I can't say enough about the eyebrow tinting and shaping either. My brows haven't looked this good for quite some time. They use hard wax which is so much more gentle. I couldn't be any more pleased. I really wanted to love this place since it is around the corner from my apartment but it just didn't happen. I have a review for makeup and a review for hair. The positive part of my experience was my makeup, which is why i gave three stars. She did a wonderful job, made sure I was happy all the way through, and I got many compliments throughout the day about how nice it looked. I did recommend mink already to my Aunt for makeup, although I wont go back because of the rest of my experience. Unfortunately, the hair part was extremely disappointing. I was here for my baby shower and wanted a blow out with curls. I have had this service done to my hair many, many times before and it never turned out this bad. Fyi, my hair has a natural curl too it, so this is not typically a difficult task for hair stylists. When she did my hair she blew it straight and then tried to curl my freshly straightened hair. She had to redo my curls after she was done because I wasn't happy. If she hadn't been MIA after my makeup was done I would have asked her to redo it again because 30 mins after my makeup, I had straight hair again. I was so upset leaving and had to do my hair over, myself, before my baby shower. My own curls turned out better then the salon. Ive seen other great review for Mink, so maybe I caught them on a bad day but I was very upset to start the day of my baby shower. read more
