Working with Lisa from Minimalisanyc has been a life changing experience. Prior to her work, I was feeling like I was in a funk and was tired of my living situation--especially with a newborn. My very first thought was that I would need to move to another place in order to feel like home. I came upon Minimalisanyc through the BlaQue Resource Network Facebook group and told myself to try organizing before moving out. When I contacted Lisa, she was so professional and accommodating, especially with communication as I am a deaf professional.
But that was not what changed my life though. From working with Lisa, I transformed from within and outside. The bed frame I always wanted, I finally got. The Murphy table, an idea I thought was farfetched, but after talking with Lisa--made it happened. My home, once a cluttered disorganized mess that only made sense to me as a first time mother, was now a place that provided serenity and calm. My home truly felt like a refuge and not a place to look away in shame. Plus the lazy susans, clear bins, and hanging "pharmacy", were music to my little inner organizational child.
Lisa went above and beyond--helping me with childproofing my place and helping with unfinished well meaning projects (thanks to her assistant Richie too!). I also loved how she understood the madness behind my "hoarding"--which was to be as environmentally conscious as possible. She used her understanding to gently encourage me to let go of some things and actually repurposed things I currently owned. This made me feel like a good citizen.
Even though I have a doctorate degree, I still learned so much from Lisa and how to make homes for items and for them to make complete sense in regards to flow. That was mind blowing. Sometimes the simplest changes really make things so much easier. I was silently kicking myself for making things harder for myself. But then I tell myself that I will apply the principles of organizing to my life going forward.
Thank you Lisa from the bottom of my heart. I truly hope you recognize the power and the gift of transformation you possess. The words I share here don't do it justice but know that deep down, you were and are an instrumental part of my metamorphosis as a butterfly/new mother. Gone are the days of procrastinating and letting things clutter without a home. read more
