She didn't ask us what our budget was, which samples would fit such a budget, instead we went through the whole rigmarole of measuring and remeasuring, taking notes in pencil. We guessed which treatments were cheapest said we wanted those. Then, at the end, after like an hour she shows us a calculator with a cost of thousands of dollars. We almost fell over. It was enormously embarrassing for everyone. She offered a discount of a few hundred but it still was very high. We went to another blind place in Huntington, ordered the same styles and fabrics ourselves, had it installed for a third of the cost.

And I'm sure he is not the one making this huge upcharges in work. But overall I wouldn't recommend and also felt it was weird and sneaky to charge me after the estimate 80 dollars to come to my house to talk about the job. The company should be paying their workers for their time, or have them disclose and ask for the payment when they arrive so I could have the opportunity to decline. My…read morewife and I requested two skylight shades to be installed/ordered as this is well out of my scope of handyman expertise. The owner Joy originally sent her son to measure/give a written estimate and we shortly after arranged to drop off a deposit and have items ordered. Late evening the day before our scheduled drop off, we were called stating that they were increasing the price as the son had provided a bad quote. After arriving to the store and questioning this we were also told while they were happy to take the deposit that they were no longer sure they could do the job and would have to send a more senior person back to evaluate. When they came back, almost a week later, the actual installer had to remeasure, as the owner's son had measured improperly as well, but said the job was of course doable. At that time the team seemed apologetic for the inconvenience and told us that if we trusted them they would make it right. As such, we decided as we had already invested the time to give the deposit and we were told they would be ready 4 weeks later for install. 2 weeks after, my wife called for an update and we were informed the shades shipped and due in the next day or two, but that since it was their busy season would not be able to schedule install until several weeks later (~5 week since ordering). 1 week prior to install we get a message saying they have to push back the date of install because the blinds weren't actually in/never even shipped. When talking to her son, he blamed a long term employee that "doesn't know how to use the computer" and when talking to Joy the owner, she states the person who originally told us everything was in while admittedly incompetent had worked their forever and allows it cause she is a loyal person. She then verbally berated me over the phone for making them upset! Do yourself a favor and go to a real store. These folks lie, continually change their story and misled us, particularly after taking our money. This experience has been nothing but a headache and a waste of our time.

Most didn't offer or recommend shutters, only fabric/motorized shades - not the look that we were going for. I'm glad I called Aart - they arrived promptly to measure and explain how they could build out the shutters in a way that would allow me to still access the windows for cleaning. Not only are the shutters the "look" that I want, they came in at a better value than the shade options I explored. The installation was quick, easy and I'm really pleased with the results. Called again. Came end of October. Said board was cracked. Came to replace board November 19. Closed up for the winter. Opened in the spring and within a week was tilted again. Came on April 23 and said something bent. Came June 10 to fix. The 3 servicemen said they didn't have enough workers with them and they did not have the correct size replacement piece. They took the awning with them and are bringing back to the shop. Maybe will be back in a week. Insinuated multiple times over the phone that we broke the awning and said they were doing a courtesy by not charging for repairs! From the installation at the end of August to today, June 10, the awning has never been hanging correctly. They are scheduled to return on June 18- Over 9 months !

Now I will…read morebother to write about my excellent first experience with this company, which quickly identified a black out roller issue via video that two other window people could not ; in fact, these two competitors' solution would have cost a lot more and would have taken weeks to implement. Indeed, there was a quick and easy fix, and this company made it happen within 48 hours. My tenant was thrilled that her visiting mother would be able to enjoy the view from the window. I will definitely call this company again for my next window issues.
