    Fabric separating

    Their service and guarantee is extremely poor and leaves much to be desired. They do not respond in a timely manner. They do not have quality fabric and are accusatory when their fabric fail. Our awning lasted 8 months before separating.

    I apologize for the long review, but it is much needed. We purchased an awning under 10 years ago and we contacted them recently in reference to part of the awning was starting to come off the bracket. When the technicians got here to take a look, instead of going up on a ladder to look at what was wrong they told us they knew exactly what it was. They said we left the awning open during a windy day and it broke the bracket. After we told them that we never leave it open they told us it would be over $1000 to fix it and also charged us $300 just to come to take a look at it. We contacted a local contractor to come take a look at it and they informed us that the wood they installed on the house was not the proper wood. They used regular wood as opposed to a pressure treated piece of wood, and then covered it with some white aluminum which trapped even more moisture in there and rotted it out even more. When we confronted the owner Ray about this issue he became very angry and was not very nice to us when we tried to explain to him what the contractor had found. We asked for our $300 service call money back he told us no and that every job they do is done the same way and it couldn't have been the wood that failed. It had to be the fact that we left the awning open. When I sent the pictures he never responded back and that's why we are submitting this review with all the pictures so that everyone can be aware that this company has been making the same mistake for over 10 years. You can see in one of the pictures where they cut through a wire and just taped it up. I'm not blaming them for cutting the wire because it should not have been there, but as our contractor told us, they should have told us so we could have gotten an electrician in there to fix it the right way, and not just tape it up and hide it behind the wood like it never happened. You can also see the progression of pictures that the bracket was sticking out a little bit, and then you can see the wood over the bracket was rotted and then after we took it all down you can see entire piece of wood, which was 16 feet long was rotted from end to end. The contractor told us how very dangerous this was due to the fact that the weight of the awning could've come crashing down on us. I would be very careful about this company.

    When I built my house twenty+ years ago I bought a retractable awning from Rollup Awnings. Push a button and voila! Instant awning. As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, we had a cellar. To be able to eat outside with an Awning?? My grandfather would have shed a tear. Over the years, the elements never tore the Awning but it did get ratty looking. My wife every year said it's time for a new fabric and last spring we decided to call Rolling Awnings for a replacement awning. A salesperson came to our house with a large book containing fabric choices. We were told our color choice was no longer an option. My wife & I are easy when it comes to decorating, we both chose the same color which was similar to our original material. Once we placed the order the team came to the house to disassemble the awning. The crew was quick, efficient and once it was detached they said goodbye and will be in touch soon. Two weekends later they arrived back at my house with a beautiful new awning. They reattached the fabric spool back to the central unit and when it was competed they told me to push the button. Out comes this beautiful new awning! My wife is happy, I'm happy and I think back to that cellar door slamming shut as a kid. I laugh as I sit outside under my new awning. I highly recommend Rollup Awnings, a professional Long Island organization with a superior product.

Most didn't offer or recommend shutters, only fabric/motorized shades - not the look that we were going for. I'm glad I called Aart - they arrived promptly to measure and explain how they could build out the shutters in a way that would allow me to still access the windows for cleaning. Not only are the shutters the "look" that I want, they came in at a better value than the shade options I explored. The installation was quick, easy and I'm really pleased with the results. It also means a lot, especially now, to support a local, family business that does great work.

Ended up walking in on a Saturday to a surprisingly decent sized showroom. We were greeted by Jim who educated us first-time buyers on different types of front door materials, accessories and options. This was the shopping experience I was looking for, especially for us first-time buyers. We had in mind what we were looking for and Jim was able to replicate exactly what we wanted and with guaranteed good quality. There were plenty of brochures to build what we wanted and Jim was able to build our front door on a computer program so we could visualize exactly what we wanted. Morningstar takes care of the purchasing and guarantees a lifetime warranty. You have to find your own contractor for the installing portion - they give you a list of recommended contractors or you can go your own way and find your own. Our custom blue door and screen door was delivered in exactly 2 weeks! We couldn't believe it. Especially because a competitor prior to this visit told us we would have to wait 8-9 weeks for a custom door almost doubled the price. We are highly pleased on our purchase and will certainly recommend Morningstar to all our friends and family!

    DO NOT SHOP HERE! I am not one that typically posts reviews, but this place is an absolute mess. My…read morewife and I requested two skylight shades to be installed/ordered as this is well out of my scope of handyman expertise. The owner Joy originally sent her son to measure/give a written estimate and we shortly after arranged to drop off a deposit and have items ordered. Late evening the day before our scheduled drop off, we were called stating that they were increasing the price as the son had provided a bad quote. After arriving to the store and questioning this we were also told while they were happy to take the deposit that they were no longer sure they could do the job and would have to send a more senior person back to evaluate. When they came back, almost a week later, the actual installer had to remeasure, as the owner's son had measured improperly as well, but said the job was of course doable. At that time the team seemed apologetic for the inconvenience and told us that if we trusted them they would make it right. As such, we decided as we had already invested the time to give the deposit and we were told they would be ready 4 weeks later for install. 2 weeks after, my wife called for an update and we were informed the shades shipped and due in the next day or two, but that since it was their busy season would not be able to schedule install until several weeks later (~5 week since ordering). 1 week prior to install we get a message saying they have to push back the date of install because the blinds weren't actually in/never even shipped. When talking to her son, he blamed a long term employee that "doesn't know how to use the computer" and when talking to Joy the owner, she states the person who originally told us everything was in while admittedly incompetent had worked their forever and allows it cause she is a loyal person. She then verbally berated me over the phone for making them upset! Do yourself a favor and go to a real store. These folks lie, continually change their story and misled us, particularly after taking our money. This experience has been nothing but a headache and a waste of our time.
