Quality- inferior Service- rude, delayed multiple times Installed August 28, 2026. Noticed that the awning was tilted. Called immediately. Adjusted early October. Still crooked within days. Called again. Came end of October. Said board was cracked. Came to replace board November 19. Closed up for the winter. Opened in the spring and within a week was tilted again. Came on April 23 and said something bent. Came June 10 to fix. The 3 servicemen said they didn't have enough workers with them and they did not have the correct size replacement piece. They took the awning with them and are bringing back to the shop. Maybe will be back in a week. Insinuated multiple times over the phone that we broke the awning and said they were doing a courtesy by not charging for repairs! I had a Rollup awning installed in April. I was insured by the salesman that installing on roof was no problem they do it all the time. I have a 10 year old roof no leaks. Shortly after install I developed a leak in roof that damaged ceiling and wall exactly where one of the roof brackets was installed. Ray Braun not a nice guy tried to convince me it was a coincidence and not companies fault. I call b.s. on that. He doesn't return calls. He sent installation team to put more caulk around bracket, but damage already done. Accepts no responsibility. Awning is nice but customer service is the absolute worst. I called a few times and the nasty cunt in the office told me "They were on their way". No one ever came, I called back and got a recording they were closed. The next day guys (who were very nice) came to measure unannounced. I asked what happened the day before and they told me I was not on their list and they were never "on their way" like the woman told me several times. I went back to the shop to talk to the owner. A sales woman walked over and asked if she could help. I pointed at the awning I bought and asked how much it was (nothing has prices) and she gave me a completely different price. The awning is great. Got it in 2008. The Service is horrendous. The remote is a cheap piece of plastic that barely ever worked. We called multiple times about getting a new one and were told each time that we'd get a call back. That never happened. I went to the Huntington showroom and was advised a new remote costs $100-!!! I apologize for the long review, but it is much needed. We purchased an awning under 10 years ago and we contacted them recently in reference to part of the awning was starting to come off the bracket. When the technicians got here to take a look, instead of going up on a ladder to look at what was wrong they told us they knew exactly what it was. They said we left the awning open during a windy day and it broke the bracket. After we told them that we never leave it open they told us it would be over $1000 to fix it and also charged us $300 just to come to take a look at it. We contacted a local contractor to come take a look at it and they informed us that the wood they installed on the house was not the proper wood. They used regular wood as opposed to a pressure treated piece of wood, and then covered it with some white aluminum which trapped even more moisture in there and rotted it out even more. When we confronted the owner Ray about this issue he became very angry and was not very nice to us when we tried to explain to him what the contractor had found. We asked for our $300 service call money back he told us no and that every job they do is done the same way and it couldn't have been the wood that failed. It had to be the fact that we left the awning open. When I sent the pictures he never responded back and that's why we are submitting this review with all the pictures so that everyone can be aware that this company has been making the same mistake for over 10 years. You can see in one of the pictures where they cut through a wire and just taped it up. I'm not blaming them for cutting the wire because it should not have been there, but as our contractor told us, they should have told us so we could have gotten an electrician in there to fix it the right way, and not just tape it up and hide it behind the wood like it never happened. You can also see the progression of pictures that the bracket was sticking out a little bit, and then you can see the wood over the bracket was rotted and then after we took it all down you can see entire piece of wood, which was 16 feet long was rotted from end to end. The contractor told us how very dangerous this was due to the fact that the weight of the awning could've come crashing down on us. I would be very careful about this company. read more

When I built my house twenty+ years ago I bought a retractable awning from Rollup Awnings. Push a button and voila! Instant awning. As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, we had a cellar. To be able to eat outside with an Awning?? My grandfather would have shed a tear. Over the years, the elements never tore the Awning but it did get ratty looking. My wife every year said it's time for a new fabric and last spring we decided to call Rolling Awnings for a replacement awning. A salesperson came to our house with a large book containing fabric choices. We were told our color choice was no longer an option. My wife & I are easy when it comes to decorating, we both chose the same color which was similar to our original material. Good afternoon, My name is Jillian Ridente. My husband and I purchased ($4315.00) a roll up awning from Roll Up Shutters and Awning on 1688 Church Street in Holbrook. We had issues in the beginning (the awning would unroll and roll itself without cause) which they came and fixed. Now that the weather is warmer I wanted to use my awning so my children could have shade playing outside (our home has no shaded area). My awning started to hang at an angle and rolled out on its own. I called the company on June 9th at 11:48am and spoke to the customer service manager who said she would give my number to the service manager Ann. June 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th no phone call. My husband then called on the 15th and was given the same information that Ann would call the same day. No phone call was received by either of us. I called again the next day on the 16th and spoke with Ann who made my service for the 29th. Our service contract expired on the 19th of June (funny they couldn't send anyone till the 29th even though I was calling before the 19th of June). I called again because the rollup awning was rolling out again on its own and was posing a danger to my 4 and 2.5 year old children. Ann suggested replacing the batteries in the remote. I then went to the business, explained to Ann that the batteries were new. Ann sent a worker to look at the awning. He said that the bracket was split and needed to be replaced. He said nothing about the awning opening on its own. No one called back that day to set up another service nor an explanation for the defectiveness. I called Ann the next morning because upon waking up at 730am my awning again was open. She said she would try to get someone here that day but no one came. Today when I called to speak to Ann because my awning opened again three times by itself, the owner of the company M.R. Braun got on the phone and proceeded to blame me for the defective motor, the bracket breaking, cursing and hung up on me twice. They sent the same service guy who came and he unplugged my awning. I again went to the business and Mr. Braun again yelled and accused me of breaking an awning I only used 4 months since June of 2019. I have no awning to use for shade. My roof could have possible damage and now they will not take my nor my husband calls. The awning looks as it could rip off my roof at any moment. I am scared that my family could be severely injured or my home could be damaged. I have tried to speak with and go to the company and now I am afraid I will have to pay another company to come and fix a defective product by Roll Up Shutters and Awning. We are honest hardworking people who just want the awning fix. We are not the type to sue or look for a handout just want the company to uphold the service warranty. We went with this company because even though we read some unkind reviews online we had faith when we went to see them. We purchased our original retractable awning (about 12' x 20') over 5 years ago for about $6,000. We had a couple of minor issues over the years that were taken care of to our satisfaction including replacing the motor under warranty. We've been extremely happy with our awning considering it to be very sturdy and extremely well built. We always made sure we kept the awning closed during high winds and storms... until a week ago. I opened the awning, and in the chaos of the morning, completely forgot it was still open when a very bad unexpected storm came through and the weight of the water collapsed the awning causing severe damage. I called the Holbrook store while it was still raining and also sent photos. I got a call back right away and was told the repair staff would come 2 days later. In the meantime, I had contacted my Home Insurance as I knew the repair would be costly. More rain storms delayed the repair staff, so they were forced to come a day later than planned and they took the badly damaged awning away with them around midday. That same evening, Ray Braun called me about the repair issues and I arranged to meet him at the Holbrook office the next day to discuss what needed to be done. He treated me like one of the family and guided me through the process of deciding whether to repair or replace and what paperwork I would need to send my claims adjuster. His advice and guidance were invaluable to me. In our case, repairing the awning turned out to be more expensive than replacing it with a new one. Our replacement awning is scheduled to be installed in about 1-1/2 weeks from now and we couldn't be happier. Additionally, earlier this year, my elderly mother had a similar sterling experience with them when an arm on her much older awning broke and she also needed to replace the fabric as it was very old. Family passed down an awning that was purchased 24 years ago. It took two people to hang up the awning but it was up and running with a few adjustments in two hours. The real rating should be 0! After spending $10,000 for hurricane shutters in 2015. We have waited 4 months for Rollup to finally get the parts and show up to fix our shutter which has been stuck in the down position. The first time they showed up they didn't have the proper motor, they asked who wired the shutters the wiring is all screwed up, THEY DID! They were supposed to send the electrician who did the wiring for the install 3 months later, he went away for thanksgiving so they sent another guy. He said we now needed another new motor because he said the center one was broken. However it was working at 10 o'clock in the morning he came. We now needed to pay $2200 for two new motors and they would not work with the original remote so we would now have two remotes to work three shutters. We called the owner Ray to express our discontent and tell him that the shutter in the center worked that very morning and he said we were FUll os SHIT. He then called his workers and told them to pack up and not do the job for us. The was the worst experience we have ever Had with any company, along with the rudest and most unprofessional people with the exception of Carlos and his assistants. BEWARE!!!!! read more

Don't be fooled, like I was...installation IS NOT 4-5 weeks!! I haven't even received my awning and I am compelled to write this review. The salesman Greg gives you the ol' bait and switch tactic and is a true salesman (I don't mean that is a good way). I had an appointment, but when I arrived, had to wait well over a half hour to see him (he was with another client and wasn't even expecting me)...Then he does a lot of fast talking, tells you the lower quote he gave me was for their "non maintenance free" awning model, proceeds to tell you all the reasons you DON't want THAT one, etc. After sitting in traffic for over an hour to get to Holbrook, I admit my brain was fried and I was convinced to get the "maintenance free" model. While writing up the paperwork, he charged me over the customary 1/3 down deposit (I thought maybe that was just this company); it was actually 50%!! After I wrote the check, the forms clearly state deposits are 1/3 down. I was told installation would be 4/5 weeks, which would have been perfect. That would be right about now, and when I called today to set something up, I was told, "Oh no, it's more like 7 or 8 weeks...we are so busy and since last year, we have never stopped". Which tells me Greg KNEW installation was going to be longer than he stated, but wanted the sale, and flat out lied. That does not speak well to any other dealings I may have once installation IS scheduled. I called and their scheduling person said she would try to see if she could do something to help me out, but that was hours ago and I don't expect a call back (I called about the paperwork numbers being incorrect weeks ago and never heard back). Roll-Up Awning Two Thumbs Down Back in July 2020 was talked into a 4-season awning by a Roll-Up Awning salesman. After signing he had me give him a deposit followed by signing a paper stating that I had 3 days to get my deposit back. He then placed the papers in n envelope and said because of the COVID-19 virus do not open the envelope for 7 days. Small Note my wife & I are retired seniors (fixed income) and my wife is on hospice due to stage 4 cancer. So with her immune system being so compromised I did not touch it. I did not hear from them for a month. So in August of 2020 I called the salesman and switched from a 4 season to a simple Roll-Up Awning. It is now September 2020 and I call and my calls are sent to voice mail. Note all I want is my deposit back. I notified the BBB and shortly after that complaint Roll-Up Awning called me that they will come to look and measure in a few weeks and install sometime in November. Sign in August install in November. The customer service of this company is very unprofessional all they want is what is in your wallet. If it takes them 3 months to install their Awning if something goes wrong with it how long will it take them to come back to fix the problem, and since they outsource part of the work will they accept responsibility or say that is not our fault that the electricians fault or the handyman they hired for part of the job. So, the warrantee does not cover that problem. The biggest problem with installation in that the header and Awning go 2 feet beyond the house and a 4x4 is required for support because the awning and header need extra support even though 11 feet of it are attached to the house. The installer said because of the extra 4 feet overhang (that's right the installer doesn't know the difference between 2 fee and 4 feet). The support pole must go in first. The handyman and I both know that the header needs to be installed in order for the 4x4 post to properly support the header and awning. The unit must sit fully against your house if there is a 1 foot or more unsupported overhang the housing according to the company's installer will twist and bow in the wind. Sounds like a cheap piece of tin to me. I cannot in good conscience recommend this product or company to anyone. I had other work done and they all did poor work and all asked for a deposit up front. I had my driveway, sidewalks, walkway stoop and curbs by a company that told me if you sign with me there is no money down, we will give you a start date and weather permitting we will complete the job in 3 days and then you and I will inspect the job and if you are satisfied you pay in full. He was a man of his word 3 years later I am still happy with his work. So, Byer beware if you need to pay a deposit upfront for any work you better check out the company fully because if they can't do the job without money down there is something shady about the company and their finances. read more

I ordered an awning from rollup on May 28, 2021. I received a call from them on Friday 23, 2021 saying the awning would be installed on Saturday the 24 after 12 noon. At 3:45 I called Rollup trying to find out when it would arrive. I was told the installers had not returned to the store so they are still installing. I asked how late the installers work and was told they work until they finish their installations for the day. I waited until 7:00 PM and nobody arrived or called to update my scheduled installation. I called Rollup on Monday July 25, 2021 and was told the installers foreman's brother had died. Naomi (Rollup employee) stated the awning is rescheduled to be installed on Saturday July 31, 2021. On Friday July 30, 2021 Catherine (another Rollup employee) said I should call back on Saturday July 31, 2021 at 9:15 AM to find out what time the awning would be installed. When I called back on Saturday I was told I was not on the schedule to have my awning installed. I asked to speak with Naomi and she said they could assemble my awning and install it on Monday August 2, 2021. After all this I asked to speak with Ray Braun (The owner). I explained to him the previous situation and he became extremely upset with me. He started yelling on the phone and ranting about how life is too short to worry and other non related things regarding the problem. He then got even more upset and abruptly hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with Naomi. I told her since the awning was not even assembled I wanted a complete refund. She said the owners wife refused to allow me to cancel without a loss of my deposit. read more

This is an update to June 2020 complaint. This fight is still continuing after 13 months. The awning material split on all 5 seams after only several seasons of intermittent use. A size of 24 ft wide and at a cost of $7,400 ! Ray Braun (the owner) wanted to charge me an additional $2,000 after he screamed at me saying it was my fault !! He said he knows what kind of person I am " I want something for nothing, and called me a liar and a cheat." I needed a new roof last month and Customer Service told me that the roofers can remove the awning and I asked if we could please settle this and get this product repaired and re-installed. Anne said she would get right back to me that evening (that took 4 weeks). The company received notice from Suffolk County Consumer Affairs from a complaint lodged a year ago. I was told I have to retract that complaint before they offer me any kind of resolution. I responded saying that first the awning needs to be complete and then I would retract the complaint. Again I was told "I will get right back to you." Another month has gone by. The awning is now laying on my driveway. I am going through with all my charges with Consumer Affairs, Better Business Bureau, Suffolk County DA and Small Claims Court. If by some miracle they repair and re-install this awning I will then retract all complaints however I highly doubt it considering their reputation. If they do not complete this very soon I will continue with all of these complaints and am suing for the maximum amount allowed of $5,000 to put towards a new awning with another company. To all that are contemplating using this company there is invaluable information with their product. One smart thing Ray Braun did was he "patented" his electrical components so that no other company can repair his product. You are stuck dealing with this arrogant, rude and nasty owner.
