Hiring Natalie was the single greatest decision I've ever made! I have been in my tiny 1BR NYC apartment for 11 years and the stuff was becoming overwhelming. I could not figure out where to even begin the process of cleaning out everything. Natalie did a site visit of my place to get a sense of the scope, made a plan, emailed the confirmation including the pricing we had discussed and agreed upon and set a date. Natalie is phenomenal! She completely transformed our kitchen into a functional space that's a joy to cook in. We're repeat customers; the kitchen de-clutter was such a game-changer that we had her do our bathrooms and living room, as well. Her approach is practical, creative, and non-judgmental. She really listened to how we use our space-- for example, separating our mugs by function. Tea mugs where I can reach them, espresso mugs up high for my (tall) partner, and soup mugs next to the bowls and plates. So smart, so simple, and I never would've thought of it! I searched for a professional organizer because of a suggestion from my therapist. I grew up in a home that wasn't organized and did not learn any domestic skills from my parents. I wanted to get organized for my mental health and to prepare for my move in a few months with my boyfriend. Natalie responded quickly to my inquiry and scheduled a consultation quickly as well. I knew working with her would be a good match for me right when we met. Don't underestimate how important it is to have someone who you can get along with (I've spent about 16 hours alone with Natalie and they flew by). During the consultation, Natalie told me about her own experience growing up in a disorganized family which made me feel like changing my life was possible. I had two closets that I was actually scared to go into because I thought something may be alive in there and a kitchen where things would fall on you if you opened some cabinets. I spent two days with Natalie (a month apart) and were able to accomplish the whole thing! I was obsessed with the results. After Natalie left the first day, I sat in my closet just staring and admiring the transformation. The way she organized my closet made so much sense for me and made it feel like a treat to go into my closet. Every time I went in there I felt like I was shopping! Two weeks after our closet purge I went on a trip and packed so quickly! Even more shocking I unpacked my clothes the same night I got back - which has never happened! Working with Natalie has been transformative on many levels, since the effects of the functionality of our space and the "stuff" burden ripple through so many aspects of our lives.   The challenge:  Living with my two kids in 2 BR loft apt in Brooklyn, in the wake of a fairly recent and difficult divorce.  I read and appreciated Marie Kondo and tried to adopt the mindset and techniques.  Even though I regularly "got rid of stuff," the reality was that I had gotten really good at storing things, and still had too much stuff.  I also have trouble confronting certain categories of stuff (kids art, sentimental items).  And last but not least, needed a fresh perspective from an expert on how to use the space.  In spite of significant time and energy spent thinking about and working on my space, I still felt overcrowded and stuck, and frustrated with myself (and the kids) for not being able to change it.  I also needed a change; a refresh; to purge the negative karma and associations in my space; and to transform it into a sanctuary for me and my children. I originally hired Natalie to help me deal with the "problem categories" of stuff, but she has helped in so many more ways.  The original plan of one or two sessions turned into about six I think.  She has helped me rethink the use of space throughout my apartment (kids room, my room, living area, kitchen), to shed a significant weight of stuff, and to implement the changes.  We also spent a day in my storage unit -- the graveyard of stuff that costs a lot of money every month -- and downsized it significantly.   Level 1 result:  An apartment that flows.  I have everything I need, and each thing has a place to be put away.  Things are not overstuffed and have room to "breathe."  My children also worked with Natalie to get their space set up, and now they also appreciate how it feels to have things orderly, and try to stick to it.  (It was great to have Natalie work directly with them - they were part of their own process and have a sense of ownership of the results; plus Natalie was great with them, and it avoided the inevitable conflict that happens when mom tries to get kids to clean up their room.) And I am switching to a much smaller storage unit (may eventually eliminate it entirely), and will save that money instead of wasting it on storing more stuff. Level 2 result:  A huge mental unburdening and uplift.  Just as my things can "breathe" now and don't feel jammed up, I also feel like I can breathe, and, as far as my apartment is concerned, I feel like I move through daily life with ease and flow.  I feel like I live in a whole new, much bigger apartment, but I didn't move.  It feels great!   Also to note:  Natalie is extremely professional and efficient.  She does not waste a moment of time when she is with you.  During this time of COVID, she wears a mask religiously.  She is very pleasant to spend time with, but at the same time I feel that she held me accountable for the goals I set for myself.  She is also great at re-using the space and storage items you already have but in a much more efficient way. Natalie is amazing. She was incredibly helpful, kind, and encouraging through the entire process of organizing, purging, and de-cluttering what was essentially two full-sized storage units worth of tchotchkes, childhood memories, school materials, and even childhood toys that had made their way into our apartment (Spare bedroom, and part of our living room!). What was most incredible was how good she was at helping us navigate sometimes tough and emotional decisions regarding some of our older stuff from childhood. Never pushy, always quick with words of encouragement, and with great recommendations and perspective, we managed to shed a lot of unnecessary stuff, while also organizing what we wanted to keep. I cannot recommend Natalie enough. She even endured the constant interruptions by our dog-Little Bear, and gave him a snuggle or two. In terms of the actual work- like many before said, we started with an assessment consultation to start. She figures out what you'll need and gives you a sense of what to expect by the end of your engagement (in our case two 5 hour sessions). She then sent us a confirmation with what we had agreed to do when she came, and gave us dates to do our work. I worked with Natalie almost three YEARS ago (November 2017), and to this day find myself thinking about how helpful and (at the risk of sounding overdramatic) life-changing our one day of organizing my apartment was. I did not grow up in a tidy household and even after a decade-and-some-change of living on my own, just plain didn't have the skill or discipline to know what to do with all my Stuff. We spent 7-ish hours clearing out my apartment at the time, and the visual change was stunning, but more importantly it was such a 'teach someone to fish' moment -- she gave me a mental framework for how to KEEP things organized, the mechanics of how to actually approach cleaning and organizing, and how to decide what to keep and let go of. I've moved apartments since then and at no point in the process of moving, or just plain living over the last three years, have I felt in danger of reverting to my old ways. My relationship with my space and belongings is totally different than it used to be. (Which is not to say things never get messy... but it's not like it used to be, and now I know what to do about it.) She did a great job with our bedroom so we called her back another time to help on our hall closets. Her pleasant personality made the time spent throwing out t-shirts from high school just fly by. The only problem with her service is that she's putting herself out of a job. She left our organized apartment with the ability to adapt and expand. So as our needs evolve we should be able to stop clutter in it's messy tracks before it can get a running start. I'd highly recommend Natalie to anyone who's tried to clean and organize themselves, but just can't get it right and stay that way. read more

I love Cut the Clutter! Natalie helped me clean out my closet several years ago-and not only did she help me get rid of stuff that day, she also taught me that I don't need to hang on to so much crap. She taught me how to let go of stuff, and be okay with getting rid of things. A few years after Natalie helped me clear out my clutter, my now-husband moved in with me, into my studio apartment. Natalie is so good at what she does! When we moved into our apartment, Natalie helped us organize and find space for everything. Flash forward 3 years and we have been able to maintain the organization system that she set up for us because it is so intuitive and easy. We are now expecting our first child and enlisted her services again. She helped us set up the nursery and made more space in the apartment for baby gear. Natalie has changed my life! She helped me weed out things I no longer need in my apartment and made my small space more functional. She was punctual, friendly, efficient, and not judgmental at all! If you are looking for a professional organizer, LOOK NO FURTHER!!! Natalie is so amazing, I can't even put it into words. I hired her in preparation to move oversees and get my apartment in a condition to put on the market. My only regret is that I didn't hire her sooner. After her help, I love my space so much that it's hard to move. She's so thoughtful, non-judgemental, and efficient. She never made me feel bad, but encouraged me to make the right decisions.
