Julia from Genius Organizing was so great! I think I may be a borderline hoarder (although Julia assured me that I wasn't...and am perhaps ADD instead) with tons of stuff and clothes and everything just EVERYWHERE. I'd been working long hours and didn't have the energy to organize and put things away in the evenings or on weekends. As a result, things started to pile up, I couldn't find things, and ended up buying more to replace things I couldn't find. Ahh! So, a week before I am supposed to move, I hired Genius Organizing (specifically Julia) to help me organize/sort through my belongings/pack for my move. She was fantastic and upbeat, and absolutely non-judgmental! We went through a LOT of stuff during our first session of four hours, but ultimately there was just too much to do. I knew I needed to get organized, but until enlisting the help of Genius Organizing, I didnt know just HOW MUCH I needed it. When Nicole first came to my apartment, I waited apprehensively...and to be honest, a little anxiously for her assessment, but rather than pass judgement at my apartment (that, at these beginning stages, could really only be described as uninhabitable), she merely introduced herself, asked me where I wanted to get started and we jumped right in. We made shockingly amazing progress in just the first session - everything I owned slowly but surely found a home, whether it was a place within the apartment itself, in a "to donate" bag, or a "to trash" bag. I don't consider myself to be a crazy cluttery person, but my basement had turned into the depository of everything i couldn't put somewhere; not sure if I wanted. Genius Organizing is incredible! Nicole showed up promptly and in 3 hours transformed my son's room, which had stuff piled to the ceiling, inside and out. It was unrecognizable when she was done, totally neat and organized. It was very easy to schedule a session as I am very busy, but Nicole worked around that for me. The day of our session she was running a little late but she emailed me to let me know she was on her way! She also made sure to stay the full 4 hours to give me my full session. Julia from Genius Organizing was supposed to meet me at 2 pm on November 22. The issue is that they didn't really want to honor the Groupons. I contacted them once in July and never got a response back. When I contacted them again in November without mentioning Groupon, they wrote back and said they would be delighted to help. Then I told them I would like to use my Groupon and I was told that they didn't have an appointment until December 6. When I expressed my frustration and suggested that they might be trying to avoid honoring the Groupons, an appointment showed up. Julia was supposed to help me from 2-5 pm, and though I was late about 3 minutes, apparently she had already left by 2:05 pm. Didn't even call me before she left though we were supposed to meet for 3 hours. Though I called her several times and sent several emails immediately, she simply asked me to get a refund from Groupon. If they are serious about customer service, she could have waited for 10 minutes or she could have came back and still help organize for at least 2 1/2 hours. But I guess they are regretting doing a promotion on Groupon for $45 for three hours of cleaning. I think this is very unethical business practice; honor your business commitments From the review, it appears that they can do a good job, but I think they are other businesses that will do a good job and still be ethical. I was so nervous and stressed out about allowing ANYONE to see what my 1 room apartment had turned into- the state of my closets and the clutter!!! I was sooo embarrassed to have guests and anyone to help even to see my place . i was paralyzed and didn't know where to begin!! I've been working with Nicole periodically for several years now. After accumulating stuff from two different estates and children who have left the nest now, my place was getting unlivable. Only after our session did I understand what I really hoped to get out of it, which wasn't so much a clean desktop as a series of "aha" moments that allowed me to let go of some perfectionist impulses and uncompleted projects.
