I cannot thank Natalie enough for the transformation that *could not have happened without her* in my home, and honestly, the significant positive effect it's having on my life.
Let me begin with why and how I found Natalie - the brilliant powerhouse that is the independent small business Cut the Clutter:
In the months leading up to my 25th birthday, I found myself too often overcome with anxiety over the absolutely impenetrable mess that was my closet. It was so bad that I'd be embarrassed to even have any guests over. The rest of my apartment was 'okay' in comparison, but still highly unorganized - and most importantly, it had all gotten so bad that I felt quite uncomfortable spending time in my apartment, which is meant to be a space for relaxation and respite.
How had this all happened? Am I a hoarder? Do I belong on an exploitative TLC show? Not really. Natalie asked me some [very polite] questions during our initial (free!) in-person consultation and immediately got to the root of the issue: I never really had a chance to move into this apartment. She was 100% right, and she'd known me for approximately 3 minutes. I moved in to this lovely studio-converted-to-1br-via-suspension-wall-by-previous-tenants immediately before (like, a day before) starting a non-stop series of 70 to 80 hour work weeks. Full disclosure: I work full time and am also a full-time graduate student. I truly never had a chance to move in.
So, over those years, my clothes piled up. Natalie observed that I couldn't even access the clothes I had, so I'd buy more and pile those up too. She said the volume of stuff to process would be too overwhelming for any layperson (non-professional-organizer) to tackle on their own. At the end of our consultation, Natalie suggested that we schedule two four-hour sessions, and we did!
Getting to work with Natalie during our first session: Wow. During the very first few minutes, I think it was very clearly obvious that I was nervous/embarrassed as she unearthed everything that I'd stashed away in my closet, but she proceeded on with no judgment at all. Natalie has a technique/strategy/approach that assuaged any feelings I had of embarrassment or apprehension by assigning me cut-and-dry tasks that were productive and easy. We also chatted for the whole four hours, and as other reviewers have said, Natalie is so fantastic to be around and incredibly fun to talk with.
At the end of our first session, I found myself really looking forward to our next one, which was just as productive and pleasant. Moreover, Natalie made sure she left me with the ability to maintain this beautifully organized space, and also to apply her technique to my living room to create my own much-needed home workspace. She also offers advice as-needed about high-quality organizational supplies, which was super helpful for me as one of those people who tends to just select at the guidance of Amazon Prime.
I will post photos of the BEAUTIFUL closet organization that Natalie orchestrated as soon as the light in my apartment does it justice!
Thank you so much, Natalie! I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me (not to mention up and out of my apartment!). And to anyone reading this and considering Natalie's services - SHE IS THE BEST, CONTACT HER NOW.
One more thing! All because of my sessions with Natalie, I was able to donate about 125 lbs of shoes, and about 260 lbs of gently used clothing and linens (!!!) to local charities & community assistance organizations. I could not be happier that the items that made up the 'clutter' that had been overwhelming and anxiety-inducing for me are likely to now serve a positive purpose in someone else's life. read more
