So they tell you a) you misunderstood. I didn't. Or b) they don't have any more units of the very size you're looking for. But! They happen to have the $149/mo unit. That will work just fine, Ma'am. Only if you're paying, sir. Their website, an hour earlier clearly said they had a unit available. It still does. So, the company's shopping cart doesn't update to reflect actual availability? That's bait and switch, Consumer. Avoid this location.

And, I have purchased moving supplies here. It may not be the lowest price for these supplies, but it is handy having a full range of items in one place. They buy back unused and unopened items. This store also refills propane tanks and has a few storage lockers. Al, the manager is a nice, if overworked guy. I can recommend this U Haul to you.

Every single part of the…read moreprocess went wrong, we were continuously passed along to different people to talk to, and the billing is still being processed wrong. We used the U-Haul's U-boxes to move from Michigan to Florida. To make it easier I will split this horrible process into four different parts. 1. Delivery to our home had been set for a Thursday morning. Multiple family members and friends took work off in order to help us load them. At 11am the boxes had still not arrived and I was assured they would be there before noon. The boxes didn't show up until 4pm after all of our helpers had to return home. No one was answering our calls trying to figure out when the boxes would arrive and the person unloading them had no idea what they were doing. 2. I received a call saying we could not put locks on the boxes because they needed to be inspected. When they arrived to pick the boxes up, three hours late, we were then told we needed locks and we would be charged because they had to provide them. They never mailed our keys to the locks. When they were delivered we had to buy a bolt cutter and break into our own belongings. 3. After having the drop off date set in Florida for months, we were told they could no longer drop them off on that date. This means we would be sleeping on the floor with no furniture, clothing, or kitchen utensils. After talking to multiple different people the date was finally set again. The boxes showed up six hours late. The woman dropping off these boxes was the ONLY person that was nice and kept us updated on what was going on. 4. The entire transaction was completed at the end of June. It is now the end of September and we are STILL being charged EVERY SINGLE MONTH for a storage container we don't have. Every single month we call, get passed around to multiple people, and they eventually return the money. If it happened once, okay I can handle that, but this has been happening for three months in a row and shows no sign of stopping. This experience was horrible. I will NEVER go through U-Haul again.

I am so glad Devon Self Storage opened recently on Plainfield! They made our storage for listing…read moreour old house and moving to our new house so much less stressful. It was a breeze to sign up with them, and they helped me select the best size unit for what we needed, and helped get the best deal. It seems like they usually have some kind of special, but depending on the size you need and how long you will need it make some of them better suited to you. I was glad she took the time to walk me through the differences. One of the best things about them is that all the units are indoor and climate controlled! We all know how critical that can be in Michigan. I didn't have to worry about water damage, heat or humidity damage, mold, freezing, or standing out in the rain/snow to load and unload. There is a keypad entrance and you drive right in. The doors are large enough to accommodate moving trucks, though I didn't have to attempt that. Our unit was fairly close to where we could park, though we couldn't get a "drive-up" unit in the size we needed. Thankfully, they provide rolling carts so moving large boxes from a car to the unit went smoothly. The facility is very nice and clean as well. This might be in part because it is fairly new, but the floors are all polished, the doors to each unit are clean, and the units themselves are all clean. Even the gates above the unit seem to be really clean. It's just another bonus to having indoor versus outdoor storage. The only negatives were mostly to do with other customers. Most of the time we were the only ones there when loading or unloading. Occasionally other people were also there though. For example: all 3 of the carts were taken by one group; someone parked their car too close to the keypad to leave the facility so we could only access it by getting out of the car to enter our code; someone unloaded all of their stuff and almost completely blocked any path to exit the facility. The only negative we experienced at all was that we didn't receive a confirmation email after we cleared our unit and it was inspected. That's such a minor thing it doesn't even matter. We just stopped by the office to double check that it was done and we were all set. We could have even called instead, but were heading next door to Lowe's anyway. We had a very positive experience with Devon Self Storage. I would absolutely recommend them, and would use them again if I had any storage needs.

Very bad experience. Was told multiple different delivery dates by different people within the…read morecompany. Delivery was delayed even longer than expected (10 days post pick up). Boxes were labelled incorrectly and a handful of things were placed in random boxes/bins making it difficult to find certain items. On arrival, this made it difficult to put things in the correct places. The delivery team on arrival seemed in a hurry to leave, not placing boxes in the correct rooms. This made it difficult for me as I couldn't carry the boxes by myself, so I had to open boxes on a floor and slowly bring things a few items at a time up or down to a different floor. Many boxes/bins were placed in the garage that should have gone in the house. The assembly team that came to put the trampoline back together had to come back twice because we initially couldn't find the box of trampoline parts. Additionally, I had a hard time getting in touch with them the second time until the company owner reached out to me and then reached out to them. Then I later discovered that the the metal pieces holding up the basket on the front of my bike were damaged badly, bent in multiple spots and need to be replaced. My refrigerator doors are also out of alignment now and a small corner piece on one door is damaged. Tried reaching out to the coordinator and claims department to address these issues and still without resolution for the problem. The line for the claims department has a full inbox and I am unable to leave a voicemail. EXTREMELY chaotic and horrible experience with this company. Would NOT recommend.
