There are two Chinese restaurants in Port Jervis. They are both categorised as (fast food) kitchens. But when you order butterfly shrimp with bacon, you immediately identify the restaurant version of split shrimp, omelette, bacon, onions in a spicy sauce. The usual fried shrimp hidden in a batter glove are, instead, lighted breaded. The presentation is also that of a restaurant. And the flavour of the wok in house fried rice is unforgettable. A year ago we were thrilled to find Ming Moon, it was the best Chinese food we had found since moving from NYC. Tonight's meal was the exception: undercooked spring rolls, stringy ( seemingly re-fried) General Tsao's, and WAY over salted and tough mooshoo pork. Best Crab Rangoon in entire state of NY , hands down !!! I live on the Island and work in city , and I feel like nobody makes Crab Rangoon like Ming Moon in Port Jervis -Also their BBQ Spare Rib Tips on their Specialties portion of the menu - Simply Amazing !!! We also recommend their CHICKEN LO MEIN , Broccoli shrimp with garlic & String Bean and garlic , spring roll and pork dumplings. Generous portion , always fresh . There are a few key things that stand out about this Chinese restaurant that make it far superior to the surrounding options in Port Jervis, Matamoras, Milford, and the Dingman's (area). 1). They have a website with a posted menu, a rarity. 2). They have menu clarification that states what you can expect from your order (I.e. chow mein is not noodles and lo mein is soft noodles). Many places make this confusing because sometimes chow mein is noodles and sometimes it is wet cabbage and vice versa with the lo mein. Anyway, the lo mein tastes wonderful and is the best we've had in awhile. We did order fortune cookies which they forgot to add, but everything else was great. I ordered from here once while in PA. The delivery arrived under an an hour. Thank you small town USA. The order arrived perfectly packed and included the right amount of Chinese sauces. We ordered: General Tso's Chicken Combo Chicken with Chinese vegetables combo Shrimp Lo Mein Singapore Mei Fun My husband said it was delicious. Mine was the Mei Fun and it was perfect. It had the right amount of curry and sauce. The shrimp were cooked but not rubbery. The portions were big allowing for lunch the next day! read more

I really wanted Chinese food today and did not want to go to Westfall. I walked to Ming Moon and I must say, I really liked their Hot And Sour Soup. Got Roast Pork wirh Chinese Vegetables and Boneless Spare Ribs for hubby and he enjoyed it. They don't give you a ton of food but it was tasty. I ordered mongolian beef and received a huge portion of under cooked onions and not even 2 ounces of beef in the entire dish . Apparently they replaced all the missing beef with MSG as my hands are still puffy feeling an hour after I ate half the portion , the 2 chicken and veg combos were sad and overfilled with rice instead of chicken and veg , The 2 egg rolls were dry, tough and overly salty instead of flavorful and succulent . Pork fried rice was soggy discolored rice that if fried was only in a wok for about two seconds and tasted of stale oil more than pork an s had nothing in it but cubes of pork and rice ,, wet fried rice is a food crime . they still charged 45 bucks for this bit of takeout as if it was actually as advertised. The seasoning was the only good point and the only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one , this was some real struggle hut grub. We will never eat here again. I know times are hard , it really shows in this sad meal we were served. read more

Today I was extra hungry and ordered from Ming Moon. As soon as I took out my small shrimp fried rice from the box they delivered in, a roach came crawling to the top of the box. We ran the box out of our house and in to the hallway. We have video proof of this. We all Chinese food. But lately, I feel like Chinese Food is lacking. Lacking in service. Lacking in taste. Lacking in quality. Lacking in exceptionalism. In my search all over I stopped in to this little takeout. I decided to eat in. Risky, I know. It has a few tables and is clean enough for a Chinese Food place. Why is cleanliness an insurmountable task for them‍ but I digress. Anyway, the couple that was there was very rude. Trying to ask questions about the specials was like trying to get Trumps tax returns. I was waiting for the Feds to come in an injunction motion any moment. The couple constantly ignored you until...I was ready to order. While waiting for the food they started arguing. By the time the food was ready they practically slammed the plates on the counter and said come get the food. Ok. Not exactly those words but certainly not any nicer. The food was okay at best. The fried rice was yellow. Yellow! Weird. Soy sauce is brown. What's up with yellow? I'm sure Google has the answer. It was sticky and flavorless. The boneless spare ribs were not too bad. Not the usual coating but still ok. They continued to argue. When I asked for a to go container to pack up and leave the atmosphere she rang me up and wanted insisted I pay before I packed my food up. After listening to all the arguing and the lackluster food her rudeness is carried onto her customers‍ Maybe this is why we order take out??? Anyone know of couples counseling that we can refer to them? Customer service classes? Or, maybe that's the success of this place...because it's not the food. read more

If you like small portions and bad food then by all means, eat here. Usually my fiance and I would order from another Chinese restaurant in town. Since we were in downtown Port Jervis we decided to give this place a try. Big mistake! I have never tasted such terrible food in my life. They do not season any of their food. I did not think that anyone could ruin Wonton Soup but I was mistaken. Again no seasoning. While I understand they may be afraid to offend anyone's taste buds but come on. Salt and Pepper never harmed anyone. We do not plan on eating there again. It's just not worth it. As for the inside of the place, it was dark and uninviting. Just ate st the Ming Moon after moved to their new location Front Street. As we liked the old store we weren't surprised we like the new. Had General Tso chicken, lo Mein, steamed dumplings, all good. Fresh incidence is the key and I believe they use them. I work in Manhattan and have a wide variety of Chinese food restaurants on a daily basis, but I must prefer coming home to Port Jervis and Ming Moon. Also both locations always appeared clean which is always a big plus as well. read more

We usually use this place when we all want to order but lately the quality has gone downhill. Depending on who's waiting on you, you'll either get good service, or you'll be treated like you're being a bother. The girl who works there needs better people skills. Today when I went in, the guy waiting on me had a call come in on his cell phone. He apologized and took the call when I was making my payment. After I signed the slip, he walked away. I am rating overall restaurant at three stars.. They deliver so thats a plus during the day when Im stuck at the office and cant get out, there service is great. Super friendly and happy environment. The food is lacking though. Underseasoned and bla. The won ton soup is in my opinion disgusting. over cooked won tons water with like 4 scallions. Not even chicken broth and julliened pork strips.
