Nothing like a little Chinese food on Christmas day. This place was open and doing in-person dining, with a wide berth between tables for social distancing. I found a "fried bean curd with Chinese chili sauce", which is pretty much what I want in life. Being hungry as a traveler on a holiday where most other restaurants were closed, I added some nutty sesame noodles. The tofu was plentiful, crisp, and came with a nice variety of water chestnuts, mushrooms, snow peas, and carrots. The former two were probably canned, and the actual level of burn in this chili sauce wasn't that high, but it was tasty, cheap, and available. Not sure I could ask for a whole lot more. read more

Whenever we don't feel like cooking and want to pick up something good to eat, Ming Garden is one of the first places that comes to mind! I've actually never eaten inside the restaurant. I've always gotten it to go! We order the shrimp fried rice (+add broccoli) and a few egg rolls. The order of fried rice is huge!! And our family can eat on it for a few days. This order normally costs us around $17. That's a steal for a family of four. This is our version of "fast food" (ewww @ real fast food ew ew). The shrimp are plump and well cooked, and the broccoli adds a nice healthy crunch. Their fried rice does not have a strong soy sauce taste to it, so I sometimes add more sauce to mine. I also looove to dip the crispy egg rolls into the mustardy sauce that comes with them. Next time you want something quick, stay away from the Golden Arches or anything in a greasy bag. My favorite place when I travel to Shreveport, Louisiana. You will not find better oriental food anywhere chose; this restaurant serves delicious, quality food. If you like shrimp in your oriental, this is your place and they allow you, if you wish, to order additional shrimp with your entrée. The shrimp are fresh and plump and absorb the gravy so well. Oh man, how I missed Ming Garden when I was in south Louisiana. Then to come back and find it was carry out only due to the pandemic when I moved back in September 2020 damn near broke my heart!! Ming Garden don't taste the same unless I'm in that ugly plain dining room. I was so thrilled when they opened the doors again this spring!!! I always do lunch here (Hello Mongolian Beef) and the price is a little over $7 and you get a filling meal with Spring Roll along with your choice of Egg Drop or Hot & Sour soup. But what I TRULY love are the won ton chips they give you as an appetizer while you wait on your food!! Oh my Lord how I missed those after I left the area back in 2012!!! The house Hot Mustard is also to die for!!! SO if you find yourself at the foot of the Shreveport Barksdale Bridge and want some Chinese then by all means stop in at Ming's!! Last night, 10-14-21, we ordered spicy Szechuan Beef & Chicken Fried Rice. It had been years since we've eaten from Ming Garden. We don't eat out during the pandemic and we rarely do take out. We were really disappointed. The Szechuan had no hot peppers in it and it wasn't spicy enough. What spice there was seemed to come from the use of ground Cayenne pepper. The whole dish was bland. No flavor in the sauce. The Chicken Fried Rice was no different. So bland. No seasoning. Not even salt and pepper. We felt like we wasted $25 on this rare occasion when we treated ourselves to take-out. We won't go back to Ming Garden. read more

Good Chinese food, but be warned--this is not a buffet! I guess I assumed it was, which was a little awkward when I walked in looking all confused lol. My friend and I still stayed for the lunch hour, which was pretty good. I tried the China Town thanks to a recommendation from the waitress. The dish was a mix of fried shrimp, chicken, and beef sautéed with carrots, mushrooms, and broccoli, side of rice. All lunch specials come with either egg drop of hot and sour soup plus a spring roll. My total was less than $8.00 since I had a water to drink, but my friend's total was less than $10.00 with a drink. The interior seemed clean and the waitress was nice, but she had trouble keeping our glasses full. The spring roll was also pretty greasy. On another note, they bring fried won-tons to the table with a choice of two dips for free. One of the dips smelled like horseradish, although I know it wasn't, so I didn't try it. The other was a delicious sweet and sour sauce/dip. This is something I've never seen a Chinese restaurant do, but they should more often! I would go here again for sure. read more

I was extremely dissatisfied with what I got today the food that I got was obviously cooked in old grease. The chicken lo-mein tasted like vinegar? Like what's that. The fried wonton that go with wonton soup, laden with old grease and soft. Very little chicken. I also would expect some sort of crunch from veggies i.e. carrots, sprouts, cabbage. We only went once because it is located all the way across town from us. A 45 minute drive and lots of traffic. But we did love the place and eventually we will go again. Their quality of food has gone DOWN since Covid! My mother-in-law introduced me to this place and they had really good fried rice. Yeah not anymore. This was some of the blandest Chinese food I've had. No flavor whatsoever. I had the szechuan chicken. It looked boiled, had no breading (I know it depends on the place, my first time venturing out here) and was drenched in a sauce that was watery and tasteless. My husband got the General Tso's (our go to) and it was bland as well. It had some flavor but food court Chinese food has more flavor than this place. And it's sad because I love Chinese food and I loved this place and the places around here. I don't know if they can't get the same quality of product or seasoning, but don't waste your money here. She's asked if I was ready to order before getting a menu, not given drink refills, and made semi rude comments to us about not having enough for a to go box. We are so hungry when we first arrived in town and this place just kind of stood out. Once we step inside and realize that we are in the real deal. The food was delicious and extremely simple the pack of punch of flavor. I had the egg drop soup with a side order of rice and an egg roll and it was all delicious. The people that work there was extremely courteous and agreed to all of our request. We end up not paying very much and were able to take a great deal home because the portions are so big. I ate here my first night in Shreveport visiting my uncle. This restaurant was a good start to a nice visit out of town. The service is good and the food is one of the best Chinese food I've had at any restaurant. It's not like those buffets you can get food from; it's even better! We had chips with the sweet and sour sauce and they get you ready for the meals you want to eat. The chips have good flavor and the sauce is better with it on the chips. I finally got to try shrimp with vegetables which kind of looked like a vegetable soup in the presentation. I also got white rice as a side. The shrimp in this dish was a good taste with the flavors of the vegetables in them. I also liked how the carrots that are lightly sliced tasted. They had a nice look in the dish and tasted great. All the other vegetables in the dish looked nice and had a good taste with the meal. I believe I finished mine. The rice was a good healthy thing to have on the side of this meal. It had taste and flavor, something I don't really find in most rice. I finished my rice because it went really well with everything if I think about it. Now for a little humor. When my uncle gave the waitress a $20 tip she jumped up and was really excited. It was then I realized he loved the food and the restaurant. This was good food and good service. Husby and I tried Ming Garden for dinner a couple of weeks ago. We didn't do take-out, we opted to dine in. We went on a Wednesday night and because we're child-free, we opted to eat a bit later (around 8:00). It wasn't crowded and we were seated immediately. Service was FAST. Drinks were promptly refilled. The restaurant was clean and the dining room was nice. For an appetizer, we had the Crab Rangoons. They were very good - perfectly cooked with a generous amount of stuffing. Husby had the hot and sour soup - and while he said he's had better - the soup was hot and tasted fresh. We then ordered General Tso's Chicken, Pepper Steak, and the Sweet and Sour Combination (with pork, chicken, and shrimp). All were excellent. The portions were amazing and we took plenty of food home and we had it for lunch the next day. I didn't care for the fried rice (which came with the dishes) - it really wasn't dark enough for my liking - I like a lot of soy and sesame oil, so it may just be me. We will definitely return for dinner another night - and probably quick take-out on evenings when we're busy. read more

Been coming to this place for over 15 years. I wish the food tasted like it did back then. Tried to come here a couple of nights ago but they wouldn't seat us because they closed in 20 mins. If your hours state you close at 9:30, then you seat people until then. My daughter really wanted some soup and knows how much I raved about it so I decided I would take her there today for it. Just not the same. The wonton soup was nowhere near what it used to be. Spring rolls taste like they have added too much clove in them now. The fried wontons are no longer the same either. It's a shame. This is one place I always look forward to going to when I come home to visit. read more

The general Taos and kung pao also not spicy at all I was actually chewing on the peppers for some heat. The kids enjoyed their dishes but said it was their least favorite Chinese they have ever had.
