I ordered a multi-function facial machine from Minerva. As a small business owner, this $1200 piece of equipment was my most expensive piece of equipment. I ordered the machine on a sale knowing it was backordered when I purchased. The first red flag was when I went online to check the status and the back order date had been extended by another two months but nobody from Minerva had contacted me to inform me. I contacted customer service to inquire, letting them know that I was contemplating canceling because I was in need of a machine for my brand new studio I had just opened. Because of the attentive responses I received, I decided to proceed with my order and be patient while awaiting for customs to release the shipping container. Everything was delivered nicely and I had no issues, although, the instructions for use are minimal. And there are zero instructions for troubleshooting and maintenance. I turned my steamer on to practice a facial and the fan is so loud on this machine that it sounds like a power tool. I'm well within my warranty time so I reached out to Minerva to see what could be done about the noise. Their only response is that all of the machines in the showroom sound like that when in operation and to rest assured that it just means the machine is on and in proper working order. I have worked with many multi-function machines that are almost exactly the same as the one I purchased and none of them are even remotely this loud. Noise is to be expected, it is an industrial facial machine after all, but it should not sound like the jackhammer of facial machines. So since Minerva is disinterested in providing any actual assistance, I suppose I might as well rebrand my services to explain that all facials will be accompanied by an ambient construction noise soundtrack. I ordered 2 stations on Jy 1st 2020. They let me know they were backordered. They were both paid for, including shipping. After calling, I was told one was in stock and they would send that one. I would be notified when the 2nd station was back in stock and shipped. I only received one. Today I called and I was told they had tracking confirmation that I received both on different dates. They were both signed by the same person. Impossible!!! We were shutdown in CA when the 2nd one was said to of been delivered. I never received the 2nd station. I was told no investigation, or nothing can be done because I waited to long to notify them. If I knew it was back in stock, I would of called sooner. Wow... I never write negative reviews as a business owner I know how harmful they are to a business.. I ordered new stations 11 to be exact .. I paid 1600.00 in shipping. I have a Salon as most Salon owners know Friday is the busiest day for Prom season. The delivery truck dropped a pallet of mirrors in the parking lot in front of my Salon. I called Minerva immediately I spoke with Sean from customer service, after telling him th pallet was left in the parking lot .. his reply was we only offer. Curb side delivery. I understood what Sean was saying because the driver did put the other 5 pallets on the sidewalk out front of my Salon. I have had mixed results with Minerva. Hit or miss on service, but I gave four stars because they are an independent company with real people working there and I think they do try to get it right. They have a rock solid delivery system that works the same every time. And I have never received more compliments than when I purchased the Avant backwash system. It has a headrest inside the sink. My clients freaked out! The nozzle is a hair trigger and I have fire hosed myself in the face 4 times! Other than that I love it. I own a salon and have ordered equipment from Minerva twice in the last 6 years. Both times the styling chairs when put together properly are loose and become even more so with use. They end up damaging the floor because they don't work properly and when I ask Minerva for support or help with the matter the only solution they have is to put some loctite on it. If your chairs are faulty perhaps you should look into fixing the issue. I have spend thousands of dollars with this company only to be told sorry about your luck when the product is sub standard. It's unacceptable. After the second email this time they just stopped replying altogether. I've had the new chairs 3 months. The stations are always nice and sturdy, I've had no complaints with those. I'm just disappointed that one of the biggest sellers of salon furniture sells chairs that are really worthless. Avoid Buying anything from Minerva Beauty at all costs! My wife and I purchased 3 product shelves from Minerva Beauty and Prior to placing the order, I called customer service and wanted to find out if the shelving was pre-assembled, as the website says some assembly required. The customer service rep confirmed and assured me these shelves were pre-assembled all we had to do was put on the glass shelves. Upon arrival the were not pre-assembled, disappointing to say the least, but here they are so I will just assemble them. After taking everything out of the packaging I started to attempt to take out the screws that were pre-installed in the bars. To be honest, even if they came out easily it would make more sense to have these in a bag, it is a lot of wasted time take these long screws out. Unfortunately, I spent about 30 minutes trying to unscrew the screws and could only remove a few. I went to home depot and bought tools that I could work with, unfortunately this now became a two-man project, so I hired my maintenance manager where I live. We started working with the new tools to take the bolts out, we got many of them out but still many would not come loose, we went as far as putting the Allen Wrench Hex Key in the bolt and hammering them to loosen. Again, many of these we still could not loosen. Finally, we had to take Channel Locks and heavy-duty Pliers I held the bar in place, and my guy turned them, this got off the rest, we damaged many of the exterior portion of the bolts because of this. Overall, we spent 4 hours loosening the screws / bolts to finally assemble, a nice product in the end but the worst experience in my life with furniture assembly. This is not counting the initial time it took me in the beginning and going to home depot to purchase tools. I reached out to customer service and shared my experience and asked for a refund for the cost of hiring someone and the tools which was about a third of the cost of the shelves not counting the shipping. I asked noting for my time or inconvenience or anything for the damage on the shelving itself. I got the run-around for several days and finally the manager Bryan reached out after sending email saying I was going to do a charge-back and share my experience with the BBB and Social Media platforms. I spoke with Bryan and explained the situation again in a nutshell. He said the website says there is assembly required and he cannot imagine it would take two people to do this? Seriously, I wasn't asking him to imagine, I was explaining what happened, everyone here seems to think it is fine and normal to spend 4 hours to remove the bolts because they were machined on and customers do not matter. PLEASE BEWARE- Save yourself the stress and headache and avoid this company. This past April, while closed for COVID mandates, we purchased two Premium Extra High Tech Stools for our salon and day spa and in June we purchased one more Premium Extra High Cutting Stools. The stools were unused until June 15th when we were finally able to reopen our salon. In the three short months we have been open, the top seams on all three of the stools have given out; the same seam is damaged on each stool. Since the seams were coming apart we applied duct tape to try to stop the seams from coming apart. These stools are lightly used in our environment and this type of defect was a shock. We contacted the manufacturer regarding our concerns and warranty. We were told that this is not a "manufacturer defect" and in the company's opinion this is "wear and tear". I originally needed 4 for my salon but because we have been behind I decided we will go ahead and install 3 since the 4th looked so damaged so we closed up the plumbing for the 4th bowl. When I called them to ask for them to call fedex so they can make a claim and fedex can come get the bowl I wasn't able to use Kimberly told me we don't do that all I can do is send you a replacement part. So now I am stuck with a 4th $933 bowl that I won't be needing with an awesome replacement part. Pretty shitty customer service. The guy I talked to was nice. It since Kimberly Brooks was handling my case he couldn't do anything. Didn't come with instructions and is missing screws. The freight company was a battle also. Not Minerva's fault, just an all around poor experience. Update: after realizing my equipment was faulty I called customer service back. After lots of photography and negotiating their policy (which is horrible) I will be receiving new chairs of the same, ugly color. I dare them to be cheap and defective again. This is my third time ordering from Minerva Beauty. Unfortunately this time has been a nightmare with the Styling Chair Hydraulic. I ordered a low profile styling chair and the hydraulic doesn't turn easily and definitely will not turn with a client sitting in it unless I put down my tools and use both hands. I called and they sent me a replacement after seeing the pictures that it was put together properly. Again the same problem. I called again because my arms, shoulders and lower back took a toll. I asked if there were any other complaints and if it could possibly be the low profile hydraulic. I was told no and then again they sent me another hydraulic. Before taking the chair apart because it is not an easy task, I called to make sure I was not doing anything wrong. Sent more pictures and talked to the same representative who at this point did not want to hear anymore. She then proceeded to tell me that that is how the low profile performs. Well, Well do you think they should have told me this and sent me a regular hydraulic when I asked it low profile was the issue. Then she proceeded to tell me I would have to pay the shipping to return what is their mistake. So after THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS later I have a styling chair I can't use and a dryer chair that matches. I asked them why on the website they do not explain that their low profile doesn't state it does not turn easily, I was told that they would discuss the problem and get back to me. I've had a horrible experience with the element styling chairs. We bought 6 and had problems almost immediately. They wobble and rock. Customer service told us to use lock tite on all the bottom bolts. We did that and it hasn't fixed the problem. One chair leaked hydronic oil. They replaced the base. One chair was crooked, they replaced that base. One chair seat is puckering. They told us there is nothing to be done with that. It will just happen! Now 3 of the chair seats are tearing down the middle! It hasn't even been 3 years! So far Minerva will not let us return them! I'm out $2700 and can't continue to use these chairs. 12 bad reviews on the Better Business Review and bad reviews everywhere. I wish I would have taken the time to research this company. I have ordered from them in the past. Terrible customer service in the past, I have no idea why I chose to order again. 10 styling chairs arrived late at 6:30 pm with missing 1 palette. We only had the top of the chair, the hydraulic bottoms were missing. During the day we had given away our old chairs and kept 5 good ones. Thankfully we at least had 5 to operate the next day. The next morning the shipping company tracked down the bottoms in California. We are in Florida. The next day I had 10 chairs booked , I called Minerva to ask if they could receive the pieces from California then knowing they are 6 hours away we could drive from Florida to Georgia to get what we needed from them to complete our set. Emily told me that she would need a couple of days to find our order even though I told her the shipping company said they were in California. This is where the issue lies with Minerva. Emily was ignoring everything I was saying. She did not care that the next day I had 10 chairs running full tilt. All she had to do was call this lady to confirm that the chairs were in California but no, she was on a power trip and because I got frustrated with her, she kept on her power trip and milked it for all she could. I explained to her that if we were going to drive there we need to know soon because that is a 12 hour round trip. She said first she had to track down the missing palette but it's in California and she can't talk to anyone until the following day. I said please talk to this lady from the shipping company. She did not like the fact that I was telling her what to do. I asked to talk to a manager. She said he is not available. Just short. Not willing to help me at all. I said well when will he be available. Again short. I don't know. It was like pulling teeth. She did not want to help me at all. She finally said he is in a meeting. It was absolutely ridiculous trying to get her to problem solve with me. I said I just need to know if my husband can get the parts because he can start the drive now. It was already 10:30 am. We began our conversation at 9am. When the manager Bryan finally did call me back instead of saying I'm so sorry I was in a meeting. Let's figure out how we can get these chairs to you he literally said this is Brian. And then went silent. No apology , nothing. silent. To the point I said hello are you there? are you going to talk? He said Emily told me they need to locate your chairs. Imagine my frustration. I said no we have confirmed the chairs are in California, I just need a yes or a no from you the manager if my husband leaves now can we pick up the parts. I said if he leaves now he can be there aproximately 5:45 or 6pm. I noticed you close at 6pm. Will someone be there to give him the parts. HE SAID "WE CLOSE AT 6 I cannot guarantee that someone will be there". I almost fell over. I scarcasticly said let me tell my husband to don't dare stop to pee or get gas because they might not be there when you arrive. I follow their instagram account and always see the prettiest salon esthetics using their products. I attempted to order products but at checkout realized their SHIPPING COSTS were $500!!! Apparently Amazon prime has me spoiled, because that amount seemed offensive! Their products are NOT CHEAP so I called the company to find out how I could save money. They suggested waiting until their Memorial Sale* of 10% and to ship to business address (not residential) to save another +$75. As for the products themselves I wanted a backwash station with a deep bowl for long hair clients and a reclining option so decided on the AVERY SHAMPOO SYSTEM in camel with white sink. I will say it's comfortable for my clients so long as you provide a lumbar pillow, but the bowl is EXTREMELY SHALLOW SINK like my bathroom sink is deeper! (There's a reason they don't show a top view in the photos, I can barely fit all of my combs/brushes in the sink it's so shallow.) Because of the wide SHALLOW BOWL WATER SPLASHES OUT the sides and onto my floor. I have only had men's cuts and women with short hair thus far & I'm dreading the first appt with my long hair clients. I worry their hair will be a tangled mess and that the water will overflow out the sides once their hair fills the drain. I also noticed the first time I shampooed a client my BACK BEGAN TO ACHE. I feel like the entire system needs to be lifted off the floor 3 inches because I'm bending over more than with my previous wall mounted sink. (I'm 5'7") The salon chair I chose was the VENTURI in camel with the round white powder coat. It is cozy, I love how it supports the lumbar and gives clients good posture. The height of the chair is nice, it also helps with my own posture while cutting. The base feels fairly sturdy but it's CHALLENGING TO TURN. My old chair that I replaced would spin smoothly with a bump of my hip or a nudge of my knee while blow drying or cutting I never needed to use my hands. BUT THIS VENTURI CHAIR IS SO STIFF I have to set everything down and USE 2 HANDS TO TURN, especially with a heavier client. (Quite embarrassing because I worry my clients are self conscious about the amount of effort I now exude to move them.) The foot rest has a lot of give to it, even a recent 12 year old client mentioned he feels like it's made of plastic and he could break it off if he pushed hard. :( After investing $1,480* for ONE chair and ONE backwash station I feel ripped off. Oh, and we could never figure out how the $44 catch all hair trap would attach to the flexible tube (required for the tilting sink bowl) so that was a total waste of money and I feel like they should mention that it may not be compatible. I now know why they have an empty review tab on their website, they don't want to share with their potential consumers the truth about their reviews. I wish I would have dug a little deeper into the reviews online before purchasing. Buyer be wary! As a new salon owner in my city post pandemic, I was incredibly disappointed and hurt to find out that the cost to return something that was not the right color was equal to the cost of the unit itself. Let me be clear my cabinet was $109 and the shipping to send it back was $107. I am horrified and hurt beyond believe that a company that distributes beauty products cannot be more sensitive to the fact that every penny counts especially for those of us professionals that are purchasing the products from their company. I felt like I was being asked to stand on trial to prove that the color that I received was not exactly the color that I saw online. Unfortunately, the only picture posted on the website is of a black cabinet and the rest of the colors they offer only have a small picture of the swatch. I did the best I could and I will admit I absolutely should have read through the return policy. I cannot even begin to explain how much I regret buying equipment from this company. First of all, the double sided Athena stations stain IMMEDIATELY. Why you would sell salon stations that stain like this is insane. I have tried everything to get the stains off and nothing has worked. Second of all, I bought 2 of the rotating color processors and they BOTH stopped working. They did agree to replace them but I had to pay shipping. I asked for a refund because they are obviously pieces of crap and they will not. Third of all, whatever vinyl they use on the chairs is crap. Again, they stain the second color touches them and nothing will get the stains out. The fabric is also detaching from the chairs after 3 months of use. Don't buy from this company. I ordered a hot towel cabinet from them less than two years ago, and it already does not work. First, I ordered the name brand HotCabi towel warmer which I know from experience is a reliable product. I waited THREE weeks and it never showed up. When I finally called, they told me that cabinet was out of stock and I would have to wait up to 2 months to get it! Thanks for bothering to tell me! So, of course they insisted that I buy the MInerva brand hot towel cabinet, and since I already waited so long and I needed a cabi, I went for it. They assured me the quality was the same. Well, it's not. They only have a year warranty, and they don't bother stocking parts so you can fix a simple switch. They don't keep the reliable products in stock, so now I'm stuck with their garbage equipment. When I called about the cabi, of course no one called me back and I had to keep trying until I reached someone and they bluntly and rudely told me they couldn't help me. Paid almost 2 Gz for a desk from this place and had to wait 6 months for it to be delivered. Opened it up and it was damaged. Scratches and smashed edges. Waited 2 weeks for a replacement and now this one is damaged as well and also has scratches all over it, spray paint marks all over it, dull spots and to top it off, one of the sections of the desk is warped making it impossible to mount some of the bolts that holds it together.
