Reiterating what others have posted here. I love my provider, I suffer from PTSD and a general variety of issues. I came to mindpath while in a very abusive relationship. I've found a great deal of help from my provider. However, how this company is billing is illegal. They have absolutely no explanation for charging, they do not follow any billing regulations and they strong arm people who do not know better into paying an exponentially large amount of money. I was not informed of any outstanding bill, until it was $2500 and a year late. I had a change of insurance and apparently it lapsed for a period of time. Under CA law you must inform anyone uninsured how much their appointment will be BEFORE services rendered. I did not find out my sessions were $350 per session until months later - I would have just stopped going until my new coverage kicked in. My therapist said " Itll tell me if your not covered and it's not saying that so you should be good". Their OWN OFFICE STAFF, told me a person in billing was fired over this mistake. My insurance office mentioned all of the calls coming from Mindpath because of this massive billing issue. Never once have I been contacted by upper management despite calling and leaving messages. I've been a supportive client for 5 years and I would like to keep my provide but it's looking like I need to find a new one. It's a never ending fight with them. MindPath is committing healthcare fraud and abuse. I was a weekly client with Acacia for 4 years, and a weekly client of MindPath for one year. When MindPath bought Acacia, they sent everyone a new contract explaining that the price of therapy sessions will be anywhere from $150 - $350 starting on January, 2023. In their Credit Card Authorization contract, MindPath explains that they are authorized to withdraw the amount due AND any other remaining balances. The exact wording of the contract is: "I authorize Mindpath Health to charge my credit card on file for amounts owed by me.... I understand that I will be sent receipts for credit card charges via mail or e-mail and that such charges will appear on my credit card statement." Starting January 2023, Mindpath began to charge and withdraw from my card $150 for each therapy session. For each session, I also received receipts confirming my payments through email. According to their Acknowledgment of Financial Responsibility Contract, if my balance becomes past due, I may be offered a payment plan, terminated from MindPath, and/or sent to collections after 60 days. My patient portal never reflected an outstanding balance nor did anyone from MindPath contact me to mention and collect any debt. However, in October 2023, I receive an email from Victoria Small, a Patient Account Representative, saying that I owe $7,696 to MindPath. Samantha Westberg, the Front Office Lead, Leah Fleischer, the Patient Accounts & Collections Manager, and Victoria have explained to me that MindPath accidentally charged me $150 for each therapy session in 2023 instead of $350. Hence, they now expect $7,696 by August 2024 and I am no longer authorized to continue treatment with my provider. I have spoken to Victoria and Samantha multiple times, but they say that my only option is to pay the debt. I made a report on EthicsPoint and they connected me with Leah. I spoke to Leah in January and she hung up on me. I have called her back and left voicemails, but she has not called or emailed me. Double billing is unethical and fraudulent. In fact, Under California Business and Professions Code Section 12024.2 BPC, engaging in inaccurate or deceptive pricing is a criminal offense that can potentially be filed as a misdemeanor. I struggle with ADHD, CPTSD, Clinical Depression, and Insomnia. I am also recovering from two major brain injuries that I suffered last September. It has been difficult losing my provider, my safe space, and my mental health support-- to say the least. I hope this issue can be resolved and I hope that any future clients do not suffer from this type of medical abuse. read more

I was a new client as of this year. I reviewing my patient portal after the first few sessions, I realized they were charging my insurance about 480 dollars per session, and my insurance didn't cover all of it, so the rest was put onto me. I didn't realize this till after the first 4 sessions, so now I have to pay a months worth of rent for 4 therapy sessions. really unclear billing procedure, and charging far more than any therapy group I have ever heard of.
