I brought my infant son to the Emergency Department after being referred from Urgent Care, and unfortunately our first interaction left a very negative impression. The RN at the reception desk, Diana S., did not provide the level of professionalism or courtesy I expected. The Urgent Care staff gave me a referral paper with my son's information and instructed me to hand it to the Emergency Department staff. When I handed the paper to her, she did not look at it and instead began asking me questions about my own medical history, including my allergies. My infant son was right next to me in his stroller, and I had to interrupt to explain that he--not I--was the patient. Had the referral paper been reviewed, it would have been clear that I was the mother and my infant son was the patient. The most upsetting moment was when a gust of wind blew the referral paper onto her side of the desk. She picked it up, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it into the trash without saying a word. Since Urgent Care had specifically instructed me to hand that paper to the Emergency Department, seeing it immediately discarded without any explanation was shocking. As a mother bringing my infant to the ER, I was already scared and worried. This interaction made me feel deeply disrespected. Patients and their families deserve to be treated with basic courtesy, especially when they are seeking emergency care for a sick child. read more

Update: Posted this almost a week ago & sent emails and have had no one reach back out to me. clearly displays lack of care and seriousness to this situation. I brought my two-month-old daughter to the Emergency Department due to severe diarrhea after receiving conflicting medical opinions from multiple providers. On that same day, I sought emergency care twice because I was increasingly concerned about her condition. My daughter was experiencing diarrhea at an alarming frequency--approximately five to six bowel movements per hour during and after feedings. Despite repeatedly communicating these concerns, no testing was performed, and I felt my concerns were dismissed without a thorough evaluation. During the first visit, I was essentially told there was nothing that could be done and was sent home. Given my daughter's age and the severity of her symptoms, I expected a more comprehensive assessment or explanation regarding why further testing was not warranted; however, I trusted the doctor.  During the second visit, a triage nurse informed me that if my daughter was not drinking, she might require IV fluids. At that time, my daughter began drinking her milk again. Based on guidance I had previously received from healthcare providers regarding signs of dehydration, I wanted to wait before proceeding with an IV if it was not immediately necessary. My decision was based on medical information I had been given and my desire to avoid unnecessary interventions while still ensuring my daughter's safety. When Physician Assistant Jessica Upton entered the room, I felt she immediately approached the situation with a condescending and sarcastic tone. Rather than providing education or discussing concerns respectfully, she spoke to me in a manner that felt belittling and dismissive. She repeatedly referenced being a mother herself and implied that she would have handled the situation differently, which came across as judgmental rather than supportive. She mentioned how because it was my second time at the hospital, I shouldn't be "messing around" and "taking it serious"- assuming I did not care enough or had any knowledge. At no point did I feel she attempted to understand the circumstances that had led me to seek care or the conflicting information I had received from other medical professionals. As a mother who had spent the entire day seeking help for her infant, I was already scared, exhausted, and doing my best to make informed decisions for my child. Ms. Upton's communication style made me feel humiliated and invalidated rather than supported. The interaction became so upsetting that I cried in the Emergency Department. I also requested to speak with the charge nurse that evening. Unfortunately, I did not feel my concerns were taken seriously. The charge nurse, whose name I did not obtain, appeared largely unfazed by the situation and repeatedly responded with a nonchalant "okay" while I explained what had occurred. I received no reassurance that my concerns would be investigated, nor any indication that the impact of the interaction was understood. The charge nurse suggested having a conversation with Ms. Upton. I declined because my primary concern at that point was my daughter's health, and I did not feel comfortable being placed in another situation where I might be dismissed, talked down to, or invalidated. My complaint is not simply about a disagreement regarding treatment. It is about the lack of empathy, professionalism, and respectful communication I experienced while seeking medical care for my infant daughter. Parents who bring young infants to the Emergency Department are often scared and looking for guidance. Regardless of differing medical opinions, patients and families deserve to be treated with respect and compassion. read more

Checked in on 8/27 for tingling/numbness on my right side. I was seen by Christine Do who acted as if she didn't want to be there. She didn't order any scans, tests barely ordered labs. She diagnosed me with paresthesia and elevated creatinine gave me a bag of IV fluids and sent me on my way. There was another lady across from me who had a history of heart attacks and came because she thought she was having one, she also received a bag of fluids and was dismissed. I ended up back at the hospital 2 weeks later due to my symptoms becoming aggressive. I didn't return to Sutter Davis instead I went to Sutter Medical Center Sacramento where they ran every test, lab, and scan possible to find out what was going on. They didn't discharge me in Sacramento without a proper treatment plan, medication or referral. Sutter Davis is a waste of time all you will receive is a bag of salt water. read more

Clean office areas and friendly staff. Currently seeing Dr. Tan and he's great - clear that he is a doctor to help people, not to push medicine. This review is for Sutter Davis/Sacramento Specialty Clinic Care First, let me say I love my primary care physician with Sutter Health and have no complaints. Also, i have had good interfaces with imaging, both with scheduling and personnel. I transferred to Sutter Health in Spring 2025 because I was living in a Sutter region full time and rarely went to where my prior providers practiced. Since that transfer, I have developed a TON of health problems necessitating multiple specialty referrals. Without exception, the wait is long - sometimes months. One referral was booked out SEVEN MONTHS. Although the wait time to see a specialist bothers me, what bothers me more is the constant cancellation of appointments because the "doctor will not be in that day," or for other reasons not articulated. I have had multiple cancellations of appointments from two specialty services and one cancellation/reschedule from almost every other referral and that represents at least 6 -7 specialties. In fact, it is the rare exception where I do not get cancelled at least once and sometimes after waiting months. Further, when they call to cancel an appointment and reschedule, there is no apology at all - the attitude seems to be that they are doing you a favor by scheduling you at all. I have gone from an active, outgoing healthy person to a person who has limited energy and difficulty liviing life. The angst of dealing with the Sutter Health care system just makes everything worse. read more

While on our way home, my Dad, who is very sick, began coughing uncontrollably with a familiar cough that made me very uneasy. We happened to stop for gas and were pleasantly surprised by the fact that this facility was right next door. We took Dad to the ER where every interaction was filled with care, compassion, professionalism, and kindness. Dad had to be admitted for two days, but his experience there was a positive one as it is has always been at a Sutter facility. Every nurse, every aid, every tech, physician, security guard, chaplain and staff member that cared for my Dad was exceptional in every way. Sutter has the most horrible Emergency Room Doctor I've ever come across. Came in with progressive chest pain. The doctor said that he was going to discharge me even though I was clearly not okay. I will call this a Scam!! I went to the Emergency room and waited there for a long time. Then they did me a widal test. Later I went to the check guy and he told me that my insurance needs me to co-pay $150. But on my insurance card it's $75 for co-pay to Emergency room. I told the guy I couldn't pay for $150 and would like to cancel today's visit. But that guy didn't tell me that this emergency room will charge me $150 anyway. They charged $1433 for the widal test (which is just like a blood pressure test), and after my insurance, it's still $150 I need to pay. If I am gonna pay $150 anyway, I will do my whole examination on that day, not just a widal test. Also they will make you sign some electronic documents after you come in, and there said that you agree to pay any exams you did. But that's before they check that you have valid insurance. I wonder if it's okay to charge a person who doesn't have valid insurance for a way high bill before telling him how much it cost?? They should talk to me about the price before they do any test on me. This is not justice and very very like a scam. read more

I visited the ER first on Sunday, July 14th and then had to return on Tuesday, July 16th. This 5 star review is for my treatment on July 16th. I wrote a 1 star google review for my treatment on Sunday, July 14th and am unable to leave another review there at this time. Tuesday, July 16th I saw Dr Songey. She was a model of professionalism, exhibited exceptional bedside manner, correctly diagnosed my medical issue and treated me with care and respect throughout my visit. The treatment that I received paid immediate dividends and I began feeling better almost immediately after she was done. As soon as the next day I felt significantly better than I had before. Dr Songey and her team performed the tests that were recommended by the NP at the Sutter Walk in Clinic on Sunday, July 14th. This is in contrast to the ER doctor that "treated" me on Sunday the 14th who ignored those recommendations of the NP. If I could have seen Dr Songey on Sunday I would have not had to endure more increased pain for days. I'm overjoyed with my treatment from Dr Songey and thank her for her medical expertise. I had my 2nd child here and the over all experience was good, let me star off by saying the staff was amazing when it came to child birth. except for the delivery pushing super hard on my belly with no anesthesia several times. I have a high pain tolerance and almost passed out after begging to stop. the recovery room however was really bad they need a remodel asap the bed almost broke on me, mind you I'm not a big girl the couch was uncomfortable and there was a leak in the bathroom, for as much as health insurance is and how much they charge then I should at least be comfortable after delivery and not in pain from the bed and couch being so bad. I want to end this review by giving a huge thank you to nurse jasmine she is such an amazing person made us feel at home she took great care of me her amazing attitude and personality made us so happy, if you ever have the pleasure of meeting her just know she loves her job and be nice to her. read more

My wife and I have been under Sutter healthcare for four or five years now, and could not be happier. Dr. Disilva as our primary is so kind and very knowledgeable and thorough. Dr. Ferguson has been extremely good as well in urology. Dr. Porter did an excellent job with my knee problem. Dr Michels in dermatology also excellent. Can't leave out Dr. Magpantay who has done wonders with my allergies. Our only comment is that the wait time for appointments can be a little long. But other than that Sutter Davis is an excellent medical facility. read more

The birthing center at Sutter Davis is an amazingly unique and special place to deliver a baby. I'm so thankful to have heard about this practice. Despite having to drive to Davis, I have no regrets about picking this spot for my prenatal care and delivery. For the vast majority of pregnancies (non high risk), their midwife practice will definitely do the trick. I made a point to meet most of the midwives, and I really liked each of them. I was comfortable with any of them delivering our baby. They were easy to talk to you, thorough, and assuaged any concerns I had along the way. They and the broader care team were also very responsive online and on-call. Ultimately, Jenn Taylor delivered our baby, and amusingly she was one of the few midwives I had not met during the regular prenatal appointments. However, she was awesome, and I'm so glad she was on duty when we went into labor. The vast majority of the staff we met in the birthing center during our stay, too, were really thorough and warm. The birthing center itself is really great. They are conscientious about evidence-based practices. They care about the details, like dimming the lights. You can also labor or birth in a birthing tub (though, note during this current covid19 pandemic, they temporarily do not allow the birthing tub for delivery, though you can labor in the tub). In November, I was scheduled to have my surgery at Sutter Davis Hospital. Before then, I had no idea that Davis even had a Sutter hospital since I normally went to Sutter Vallejo or Sutter Fairfield. About 48-72 hours (if my memory serves me correctly) prior to my surgery, I had to show up at the surgery center for my COVID test. They made it easy enough so I didn't have to get out of my car. They already notified me that I could not have any guests (such as family members or friends) with me during my pre-op stay, which is fine. The surgery center has some very friendly staff members. From check-in to post-op and my eventual discharge, I encountered nothing but friendly RNs, physicians (both my surgeon and my anesthesiologist), and techs. They helped to relieve some of my pre-surgery anxiety and even encouraged me with my own path in medicine. I'm truly thankful for each and everyone that I've encountered at the surgery center at Sutter Davis. read more

I stayed here for a week. The majority of the nurses were very helpful and kind. They listened to my concerns and helped me when needed. One doctor was not super understanding of mental health and blamed my anxiety on something that was not fully anxiety driven. He seemed offended when I asked for a 2nd opinion, but he did come around and apologize the next day. All in all, they took good care of me and kept me safe and healthy which is really all I can ask for. The food was also great and they were very responsive about letting us pick our meals and asking for feedback. read more

after visiting the ER, I was approached by an ER tech and I guess a nurse and told me that I could not have a body cam on me and I instructed them and told them that it was off. I wear a body cam probably 95% except when I'm asleep, I have worn it and other facilities also and it wasn't on and I told him and they were very, very persistent and and to take it to the car and I told him I refused and I had to go to the people in charge and they agreed with me this type of harassment in your ER is not acceptable to me i've talked to many people about this outside of the hospital. I will not be returning to this hospital. You have very good staff there, but you also have some staff that like to bully people that are trying to get some type of medical help. I'm very impressed with how Sutter Davis Hospital manages health and safety precautions during the pandemic. I've had appointments in the radiology and lab departments the last couple months and as soon as you enter, temperatures are taken, covid questions are asked (symptoms, exposure, etc.), and you are given a surgical mask to wear either over your mask, or to replace your mask (changed outside the building). Lots of hand sanitizer, seating areas marked with "closed" seats for physical distancing, and "clean" and "dirty" pen holders if it's necessary to fill out any forms. All of the employees, techs, and doctors have been great (even under the immense pressure they must be feeling with covid surging). Plus, free parking! Happy to have this hospital in Davis. read more

I had an outpatient urological procedure (one of a number) at Sutter Davis under general anesthesia. This hospital has a touch of an older school small community hospital. When I walked in I was hesitant but the care I got there was very good. The nurse, pre-op nurse was excellent, the OR nurses came in before the procedure and were congenial and helped allay my anxiety. Postop care was quite good and overall I wouldn't hesitate to go back for an outpatient procedure. Only one caveat was that the procedure was delayed for some time, an hour or two, but I was not told it was delayed. The exra time did increase my anxiety some and wished they had addressed it with me. But I have given feedback to the nurses afterwards and they assured me they would address this in one of their "huddles". Again, great care by excellent nurses. read more

I was visiting family near the Davis area and needed care. I went to the emergency room on Saturday, November 2, 2024. They were amazing! I was assisted by my husband and a Sutter Hospital staff member, getting out of the car and into a wheelchair. I did not realize I had a mild stroke. The emergency staff were incredible and after being admitted, the staff who took care of me, also were great. I went thru so many tests and exams. The staff was so thorough!! Michael is very attentive and anticipated my needs to ensure I felt comfortable during my stay. He is also a wonderful conversationalist and has an impeccable sense of humor. Kept telling me that I was wrong and that I do not know anything. This guy is horrible. He has a God complex. Sutter health is a big joke. I went to urgent care 6/12/24 and of course they couldn't see me there either. this place is garbage don't ever come here. Change your insurance. Easter Sunday, my wife waited for 8 hours in a bed in the hall and never received care in Davis E.R. for a procedure that could have been done there. Davis Sutter E.R. did not have an MRCP technician or wouldn't till the next morning. At 2 a.m., my wife was transported to Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento. I had to call to find this out as my wife did not have a room for me to stay with her. A day later, she had the procedure done that was told to us to be so immediate because of complications or infection that could have been present. My complaint is why is there such a degrade in The Sutter Medical E.R. and doctors' quality of care. In a hall for 8 hours!? No staff, specialists, or medical professionals? No communication with family or proper notice where they are taking your loved ones? No call from Dr. after her patient had surgery? It's sad that we are being robbed from our insurance and Dr's. having to pay for service we don't even get. My wife will not be going back to this doctor. read more

I was admitted to the hospital via the ER. Great care up to that point. One in my room a Dr. DeSilva comes in. I asked him 2 simple questions, both times ignored. Ask for a new doc and get Dr. Wang. Nice guy but speaks poor english and laughs all the time. Impossible to communicate. After being there for a week they were still clueless as to what was wrong. The nurses were all very nice while the lab tech major attitude. The rooms on med surg all look like they were converted closets or offices while the ICU looks state of the art. If you can go to Sacramento, you will be much happier. read more

Right down to the security guard not wearing a mask and telling me oh I'm behind a screen Which doesn't actually surround him completely so he's still exposing air to other people and other patients were sitting right next to me in the lobby without their mask on! The operator who routes calls should be fired. This was my first time calling the hospital and had a horrible experience. The operator today 1/30/24 at 11:34 am was very unprofessional, lacked customer service skills, had no empathy, and really shouldn't be in the business of dealing with families or patients at all on the phone. This is a hospital for god sakes. I called several times and she still had an unpleasant attitude and was angry when asked simple questions. Do better Sutter!
