I found my time with Jonathan incredibly valuable for the 6 months we worked together. He challenged me to reflect inwards, asking insightful questions that allowed me to explore how my experiences shaped the skillsets and leadership values I hold true. He supported me through growing pains of becoming a leader and taught me the importance of asserting my value. It was incredible to notice how the simple mind shifts I was making could have profound impacts on my career growth. I have benefited from his mindful coaching and would highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking out clarity and purpose in their personal & professional lives. See less read more

Jonathan has been quite helpful in being a great sounding board and channeling your energy correctly to the right areas you need to address. Also, on the proactive side, one can benefit really well when you drive a conversation a bit and then Jonathan really susses out the core areas one needs to expand upon to make them better. I enjoyed my experience with him as he helped me define a definitive vision and help me articulate goals (aim for more); a fantastic intro statement and other factors. I would work with him again. read more

I had the distinct pleasure to work with Jonathan on a project last year. He was a principle, along with Scott Pesetsky, in developing FreePort - a planned support infrastructure for the legal world. While the project never made it off the ground, Jonathan soared above it. His thoughtful and even handed suggestions helped us make conscientious decisions. He brought the diverse group together and guided us forward, helping us to see the hidden things in our grand plans. It was my distinct pleasure to work with Jonathan and I recommend him wholeheartedly for any endeavor he puts his mind to. I look forward to working with him again on future projects. read more

Mindful Life, Mindful Work has great Yelp reviews, that is one of the key factors that lead me to believe that hiring them was a sound decision. The company is aptly named as it is heavily mindfulness based. You get an active listener reiterating tropes from local meditation centers and buddhist teachers for a very costly sum per month, so if what you are looking for is to continue down your path with a little support and emotional connection over the phone than this is your ticket. However, if you are looking for strategic frameworks, advice/recommendations and connections from an experienced business person that will spur your professional life to the next level then this is definitely not going to put you on the right track. If you want mindfulness teachings then I recommend going to a local center of practice or visiting DharmaSeed.org for that. This will in fact set you aside several thousands of dollars that could have been put towards starting your company or going to an established personal development course. I did not complete the entire 6 month contract so perhaps there were some major drivers of success that were going to come after 3+ months but it served mostly as a mindful distraction for me. read more

12 years ago I started attending Jonathon's mindfulness classes. Each month I would bring another friend with me, or buy them his CD. A few years ago during a tough transition (job loss, injury and relocation) I sought him out again. This year as we prepare to have a child, I contacted Jonathan again. He coached me through how to step up my game at my work, in my career. He is organized; he guides me through the process of what to say, who to say it to, and HOW to say it. He is grounded, able to listen to what I am trying to say, not just what I am talking about. He even has great ideas, akin to business consulting, when prompted. For those of you realize the power of coaching, you know you need a coach who has pushed through what you want to push through. He has pushed through a lot, and succeeded; he has helped guide me through it too. read more

Jonathan listens deeply - you feel his groundedness right away - and he responds thoughtfully. There is never any doubt that you have been heard. He draws from a broad background of study and training - psychology, philosophy, mindfulness, leadership - which gives him many perspectives on a problem, situation, or challenge. He is able to distill a lot of information into simple and succinct insights. He is patient and compassionate: he understands that growth can be challenging, uncomfortable, even disorienting. He does not recoil from anger, frustration, disappointment. I've learned a lot, and gained a lot from our work together. I highly recommend him. read more

Jonathan Reynolds is truly a yogi. He is the first teacher with whom I've worked who integrates meditation, stillness, poetry, chanting, and asanas into practice. As a true teacher, he openly and comfortably acknowledges the student part of being a teacher. In other words, no ego. I've had experience with vinyasa and yin so knew that I wanted to work with him on that basis but after a week of retreat with him, I knew that I could sustain a personal practice. This is an incredible turning point. Thank you, Jonathan! Namaste. read more

I looked forward to my weekly coaching call with Jonathan. I did not always know what we were going to talk about, but Jonathan had a way of pulling deep, thought provoking questions out of our conversation regardless. I would leave the session with pages of notes. He would always leave me with an intention for the week and helped me work through some challenging situations at work I was encountering. I appreciate his attention, professionalism and thoughtfulness. I look forward to working with him again soon! read more

I've been working with Mindful LIfe, Mindful Work for about 5 months. Initially, I reached out looking for a career coach as I wanted to figure out the best next move for me professionally and how to align it with my personal goals. It has been a wonderful experience. I look forward to our sessions each week. Jonathan has helped me to focus and prioritize my goals, develop and connect to my personal mission, and better define my leadership style as I look to move up in my industry. I think regardless of where you are in your current work -- just getting started on something new, transitioning, or looking to move from good to great in your current role -- Mindful Work is a great resource for you. When I first read about yin yoga, I knew it would be a good match for me. Unlike most forms of yoga that really work muscles, yin yoga involves deeper, longer stretches of the body's connective tissues. As Jonathan explains on his website, "practicing the postures in this way allows one a deeper relationship with the subtle aspects of practice." I find this to be true. For various reasons, the gentle nature of yin yoga (floor-based and meditative practice) works well for me, and I have been really impressed with the way Jonathan teaches it. He is kind, thoughtful and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him and the Berkeley Yoga Center studio. read more

As a scientist, I've placed a premium on technical skills, focusing on both broadening and deepening my technical capabilities. At each stop in my career, I was reviewed as a highly innovative technical contributor who has generated impactful IP and new products. Though I had achieved some modicum of success, having been promoted at each of the organizations I worked for, I felt that I was capable of more. I had a sense of being somehow incomplete while struggling with exactly how to move my career forward to positions related to strategy and organizational leadership. In short, I felt "stuck". While at Fluidigm, I was recognized as having the ability to grow my career in a new direction and was supported by our management to pursue a career coaching and leadership program, with the goal of generating some momentum in my career while reinvigorating my creative vitality. Having reviewed several options, I chose to work with Jonathan at Mindful Life, Mindful Work based on the immediate connection we developed. I appreciated his insight towards my sticking points and he spoke to the aspirations I have for myself. In our work together, I was able to explicitly identify my personal values and my guiding principles as an organizational leader. We worked extensively on communication, with a particular emphasis on relational components that define the next generation of organizational leaders. I also appreciated the nuances of the creative processes I was introduced to, redefining my focal points and generating a sense of "room" and space. These sessions not only renewed my energy for my day to day tasks, but provided a blueprint for moving my career forward. The results were immediately tangible and my colleagues have embraced the new sense of purpose and connection I bring to our workplace. For those that want to go deeper, to transcend the boundaries between your work and your life, I highly recommend Mindful Life, Mindful Work. Where attention goes, energy flows. read more

I worked with Jonathan recently during a pivotal career transition. He worked with me to provide guidance and focus throughout the difficult process. Jonathan Reynolds was the first yoga teacher to truly inspire me and set me on my path of mindful yoga practice. I first took Jonathan's class when he taught donation based yoga at yoga mob in SF many years ago. He artfully and gracefully weaved the spiritual practice of yoga into the asana practice. He helped me to pay "attention" to each moment as it unfolded. His calming and engaging presence helped me to become more present to myself and others around me. He is amazing soul who truly cares about his students' growth. I took 2 of his yin classes in SF before he left for Portland and it was again a wonderful practice. He has a way of opening you up to who you are and where you are in each moment. I am truly grateful that I met Jonathan and had him teach me the different limbs of yoga. read more

Jonathan's Meditation Vinyasa class helped awaken me to yoga, and yoga forever changed my life. His insight and guidance and the power of his classes is something I keep with me today. Though I am no longer able to see Jonathan regularly due to distance, I keep his teachings with me and of the dozens of teachers with whom I've practiced, I recommend none more highly than Jonathan Reynolds. read more

Jonathan was my first yoga and meditation teacher. Not only was I becoming flexible in body in his class but also flexible in mind. His class and perspective on the world helped me break through personal barriers that were limiting me. He helps you go deeper in a humorous and insightful way. I started working with Jonathan because I felt a big and growing gap between my historical sense of "work self" and where I felt like I should be going next. After years of trying, including lots of stops and false-starts, I had arrived at a daily yoga and meditation practice, which was putting an intense focus on this gap I felt. The gap felt like a chorus of competing voices in my head, each getting louder by the week, and I really wanted someone to learn from, bounce ideas off of, and ultimately bring me some new perspective on all these thoughts and options I was weighing. And importantly, I wanted someone who would bring a mindful approach to the conversation. The good news: Jonathan is pretty much exactly who I was looking for :) He's very skilled at listening, plucking out insights and blind spots, and then leading you through a conversation to a new place of understanding. We did this over and over in our weekly calls. I learned a ton about myself, as well as how to relate better to folks at work and my family/friends too. This has given me a deeper sense of empathy for everything, and i'm very grateful. I wish we had spoken 10 years earlier! I highly recommend working with Jonathan. read more

Jonathan helped me to see that my business goals were not pipe dreams, but reasonable and achievable. Our conversations allowed me to see my value to my clients, so that I was comfortable raising my fees, and able to stop pricing my work from a place of fear and scarcity. Together we built a roadmap to make my business more lucrative, while also affording me the lifestyle I want. His approach is very personal and individual, while also being straightforward and concrete, which makes it rewarding, effective, and enjoyable. read more

While I thought I came into coaching with clear goals, Jonathan helped me to experience a real paradigm shift regarding how to pursue my life/career vision, a big AHA moment! Jonathan is a very thoughtful coach with a holistic approach. Because of our work together, I am realizing my goals and building meaningful relationships from a much more powerful place. During each session, he provided me with great insights and big and small actions I can take now. To my surprise, some of the simple daily action items we worked on are having a profound impact. I am also more present and aware in the moment, and therefore able to make more powerful choices in any given situation and connect them to my vision. Looking forward to working with Jonathan in the future. read more

I worked with Jonathan for ~6 months, and my career approach has dramatically shifted. In that time I discovered what I care about, what fears I have, the misconceptions I had, and what I want out of a career. If this sounds more like therapy than career coaching, it is because Jonathan recognized the kinds of discussions I needed to have in order to be more decisive, aware and happy. But that wasn't all. Jonathan also made me accountable for taking concrete actions to make a career change that was years in the making. He taught me the real benefits of networking, how to do it and why it wasn't a slimy way to take advantage of others. I love that after each session we spent a few minutes reviewing the main topics and action items, and the next session would start by reviewing what happened from the list. Jonathan is empathetic, focused, clear and personal. read more

Jonathan's ability to focus my intent and attention through a pretty crushing nadir in my freelance work life - one where I was booking all the work I could find yet was experiencing more stress and chaos than I had the capacity to handle - I anticipate will pay returns for years to come. This being my first time with a career coach, Jonathan was very attentive to my particular situation by listening and identifying the key factors in play, whether I understood them or not. I will work again with Jonathan as I chart my course moving forward. read more

Jonathan has inspired me to commit to practicing not only yin yoga regularly (which has become my favorite kind of yoga by now) but also mindfulness and awareness in many aspects of my life. He was the teacher that showed up in my life when I needed to experience that the real teacher and truth are always a part of me and there for me whenever I truly seek them. I like the way he weaves the principles of wisdom and compassion (towards others and ourselves) into his teachings of yin yoga and the donation based meditations that I really miss since he left Portland last fall. read more

I learned a lot, even in the short time I was fortunate enough to have worked with Jonathan. His approach included creating a vision for what my ideal job would look like (what boxes should be checked, salary requirements, etc). Then, by focusing on my skills and priorities we came up with my brand that I am now sharing strategically with the goal of crafting a custom career which 1) matches my vision to an acceptable degree, 2) is consistent with my priorities and 3) leverages my skills. I was a person who felt a lot of inner tension of having disparate professional and personal lives, but am moving away from that now with Jonathan's guidance. read more

Jonathan was a referral. I have been working with him for over two years and highly regard his professionalism and tangible results. Jonathan has been a paradigm shifter for my senior management team and myself. Originally, Jonathan worked with me exclusively. Over time, as things improved in my work, overall company and personal life, Jonathan began to work with my senior management team as well. Jonathan's acute listening skills, pertinent questions, and insightful advice has been invaluable. He has helped to increase my happiness along with company efficiencies and profitability. I lead a growing company. As a senior executive, there are few discrete people I can turn to for personal or work advice. Jonathan and I have worked on life skills, work-life-balance, long-term company strategy and implementation, personal and company goals and objectives - along with a myriad of other short and long term strategies. It is so rare to be able to speak with someone intelligently about your personal life and overall company issues and objectives. The juxtaposition of being able to work with Jonathan on personal and company goals & objectives is rare enough to find, let alone finding someone who's passion, education and experience is matched by his unparalleled results. Jonathan seamlessly transitions from personal to business as needed. I have seen positive changes in the self confidence and problem solving skills of my senior staff. We are indebted to Jonathan and thankful for being able to find him! read more

With tremendous clarity and humor Jonathan has guided me along the next phase of my journey, on the path to greater awareness and self-realization. His coaching created space for me to bring together the seemingly disparate parts of my personal and professional life so they could be revealed and experienced in ways I could not imagine. Then, with much compassion and wisdom, he opened up opportunities for truth, integration, and greater ease to emerge. As a direct result of Jonathan's coaching, I am prepared to enter into the next phase of my career with more grace and the knowing that I have what it takes:) read more

I am so grateful to have found Jonathan at the Niroga Center in Berkeley. I joined with the monthly membership and had never done Yin Yoga before but I have been practicing Vipassana meditation for several years and so the deeper, more meditative aspect of this practice was very attractive to me. By the second class, in the second yoga position, I found myself crying about the death of a friend who had transitioned from this life FOUR years ago as if it had happened just yesterday. I know I have a lot of buried emotion around difficult experiences I've had in life but reaching these strong emotions, releasing them and really healing has been the challenge. When the tears came so surprisingly during my second yoga session with Jonathan, I knew I had found a very gifted teacher. His gentle nature, compassion, deep wisdom and spiritual guidance create a safe, nurturing space for our practice allowing for profound personal transformation to happen. We are so lucky to have his teachings, If you get the opportunity to work with him in whatever capacity that may be, don't miss it. He will help you reach the peace and freedom you are seeking. read more

I decided to work with Jonathan after the short introductory call we had. My initial experience with Jonathan was as a student in his Yin yoga class almost 8 years ago. I only attended one class but I was guided into the deepest yoga practice I have had before or since then. Over a year later, I reached out to him for support for my marriage while my husband and I were navigating a very difficult financial situation while raising two small children. We felt that Jonathan's guidance allowed us to maintain connection in a time when we were not sure if we would be able to stay in the relationship. Over 5 years later, we reached out to him again while experiencing normal life situations that led my husband and me to wonder if we could reach deeper emotional intimacy within our marriage by connecting more profoundly in everyday life. We have worked with Jonathan for about a year and he has helped to guide and support us as we continue to grow as a couple and individually. His perspective is a powerful tool that has allowed us to become more connected as well as more deeply grounded in who we are. I now work with Jonathan individually, in addition to our relationship work. My personal, professional and spiritual awareness has grown with our work together and I feel deep gratitude that I have benefited so much from our work together which has allowed me to experience my life more fully and begin to wake up to how I choose to live each day. This work has improved my relationships with my children, parents, siblings, spouse, coworkers and most importantly, with myself. read more

I had the opportunity recently to work with Jonathan in his role as a life coach. Although our time working together was relatively short, it was invaluable to me and a real eye opener that I have the power and control over all aspects of my life choices, whether it be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. What fascinated me was that he only suggested a relatively simple tweak to how I planned and looked at my daily life and it has made a huge difference to me and has and continues to be beneficial. read more
