I live in Boyne, and work in Petoskey, so we hit Mim's every so often and NEVER ONCE have I had a bad expierence. Best (and only, I think) Mediterranean food in the area. Maybe even better than downstate! Food is excellent, staff is great and packs to-go orders perfectly. read more

My family and I went here on a whim after we googled where would be a great spot for a quick lunch that wasn't fast food. Mim's popped up and we decided to give it a try. The food was outstanding. Super fresh, tasty and great size portions. My husband and I both had gyros. He had the Original and I had the Chicken with Pesto and Artichoke. Delicious! We also had the Fried Zucchini and Hummus served with Pita Bread. Our daughter loves Hummus and theirs definitely lived up to her standards! The best part of our experience though was the kind owner, Brett, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We brought our service dog and he brought out a bowl of water for her. He checked in with us to make sure our food was to our liking and was overall just such a caring owner. We love to support small business and this is one we will certainly come back to the next time we are in town! The last 2 years this place has been struggling. The latest experience was ordering a zesty falafel wrap that had essentially zero flavor. Even the hummus was bland, which is hard to do. The customer service isn't anything special either so 2 stars it is. My wife and I got the gyro nachos and the clam basket. Both were amazing! If we lived in Petoskey this would be a weekly meal stop for us.

We stopped here for lunch during our stop at Petoskey - it's a cute place with nice colorful decor, and the lady at the reception was friendly, but food experience wasn't that much to write about. We got the perch baskets (note to halal meat eaters - menu is not halal despite it showing up as such on Google) and falafel patties, but the perch portions were small (though they came up with enormous quantity of fries) and their version of falafel wasn't my taste. read more

I love Mims. Honestly, if you're here looking for Mediterranean, you might be a little disappointed because it's not the same as a Jordanian or Lebanese restaurant or even a Greek restaurant but their food is good and it offers a taste of some of the more popular in America dishes it's a great lunch spot and all of their sandwiches and wraps are fresh and delicious. They do have falafel which is really yummy and their hummus and pita snacks are so very good. The hummus is fresh and nice, so even though I was disappointed that it was not what I expected. I was not disappointed in the food or the quality and I have been back many times. read more

I was really excited for my Gyro after seeing so many others. However, I was left with a pretty mediocre product that had very little flavor. First, there was tons of sauce - it was supposed to be tzatziki sauce, but it tasted more like sour cream. It took over every bite instead of adding to the overall flavor. Next, the meat was pretty tasteless too; I tried to eat some meat alone, but it wasn't easy since it was dry and dull. However, maybe grab some pita chips. Those were tasty and had a nice seasoning. Beyond those chips, I would steer clear. read more

We swung by there when we were up in charlevoix for a memorial service. We got served right away and the food was good. The only thing is it's in an old house and we had someone with limited mobility so it was a challenge getting in and out via the steep stairs and in the pouring rain. (We are all seniors though). I'd go there again and consider take out because I could leave the mobility impaired person in the hotel room and zip back and forth. I'm a peppy senior :-) read more

This place is always great. The food is consistently amazing and the service is always friendly and quick. Their buffalo chicken gyro is incredible and easily one of my favorites. This was our second time here. The first was several years ago snd the food was excellent. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was pretty bad. The chicken gyro was barely warm. The chargrilled chicken was totally burnt and had an overwhelming burnt flavor to it. Disappointing. read more

This is acute spot which I would label fast casual. The atmosphere is very fun with brightly painted walls and decor, and there are seats out back on a patio as well as inside. Once you enter the counter and kitchen are right there. You have a menu board and you place your order at the counter. It seems a bit like a fast food experience but a bit more upscale. The staff were very friendly and engaging which was nice. We ordered and then they brought it out to us shortly. After having just visited a Mediterranean country this was a bit Americanized for our tastes but still good. The spanikopita was tasty and can with two squares. It didn't display much feta inside but tasted creamy so had good flavors. The fiery feta fries were probably our favorite as they were hot and the spice level of the feta dip was perfect. I'm not sure what's in it but that is a definite to try! The falafel gyro looked a bit well done but had good flavors if a bit overly fried. My only real disappointment was in the supposed tzatziki sauce on the gyro. It was more if either a yogurt or sour cream but did not have the spices, cucumber or garlic to make it a real tzatziki. The gyro was filling and a good portion for the cost, but not sure If do that again as the sauce just left me unsatisfied. It was for sure an Americanized version which is probably fine for most people as it wasn't dry or anything, just not tzatziki. It was a fun experience and we are glad we tried it, and if you are craving a fast casual experience craving this would be perfect. They were busy and seem to have great staff which made the experience fun. read more

My suggestion is when visiting a Mediterranean restaurant, stick with their main cuisine. Just like I wouldn't order chicken from a steak house, I should not have ordered fish from a Mediterranean grill. My fault on that one. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. So crazy good! For something healthy and incredibly tasty, get the Greek Power Bowl made with roasted zucchini, fresh tomatoes, chickpeas, and cucumber, served on a bed of raw baby spinach and quinoa. I ordered falafel as the protein, but you can get chicken or lamb. Served with a vinaigrette and tzatziki, it was both fresh and filling. The fish and chips was a less healthy but equally delicious option. The battered cod was perfection. Fried crisp with no greasiness and piping hot. And how have I never tried fries with salt and pepper? I vow here and now to never have fries any other way. Mim's is cute and very clean but in no way fancy. It's the kind of place you go after the beach or snowshoeing or whatever one does in Northern Michigan. Service is fast and friendly and very helpful to novices ordering from the menu posted above the counter. Friends recommended this place for the apparently legendary fried perch, only available on Thursdays and Fridays. We missed that opportunity, but we were delighted nonetheless. read more

Got it with the falafel which comes in patty form and is absolutely delicious. Honestly some is the best I've had. A great healthy option if you're on the lookout... Zeus Greek Salad: fresh, tasty and the beets are a fantastic addition. Gyro: perfectly prepared meat with tomato and really tasty and fresh Tzatziki sauce. Love how they wrap the gyros old school style with the tight foil wrap! Also, the fries are excellent here and come with a light sprinkle of Greek spices. Really tasty takes on fast-casual Mediterranean fare. Falafel was maybe a little over-done, but we came in at the middle of the lunch rush, so I'll forgive it. Service was great and friendly even though they were busy.
