It was a great pleasure to be at the inaugural home game of Milwaukee's newest minor league baseball club, the Milwaukee Milkmen. Heavy thunderstorms and rain before and throughout the game did not dampen the spirits of baseball enthusiasts and Franklin families, welcoming the Milkmen to the brand new Routine Field at the Rock Sports Complex in Franklin.
The Milwaukee Milkmen sport a fresh black and white look and some cool branding, and their home Routine Field has some great pluses-
- Leinenkugel's Hop Yard includes AYCE and drink, and looks like a fun area
- Luxe Club Golf Bays had some sweet wicker couches to watch the game in comfort
- The Pastures sit on the grass for picnic style family watching where kids can roam free
- Milkmen Combo Terrace had like, double wide seats for doubly wide sitting comfort
- Milkmen Combo Bleachers is general admission and super welcoming
- Beautifully manicured grass Field of Dreams
- Full bar offerings and plenty of Wisconsin craft beer
Got Swag? Mondays are discount days for Milwaukee Milkmen tees, hats, and swag in the shop. Routine is a company that sells quirky hip tees, similar to Threadless (Chicago), and is the naming sponsor for the ballpark.
We bought the Combo bleacher package, that was to include a hotdog and free beer/soda, but opening day jitters had concession sellouts in the bleacher vending area well before game time, with impossibly long lines throughout the game at the only available concession stand. No dog or free drink was had. Fans around us said "more beer, put concession vendors in the stands, and more concession stands". Agreed, and I'm sure they'll work it out!
Games are super family friendly, as minor league baseball always is. We're definitely looking forward to our next Milwaukee Milkmen game! read more
