A year ago Lawson did an energy audit in my house , which was very informative. I knew my HVAC…read moreducts were leaky so I hired them to seal them with Aeroseal , which is an aerated glue which plugs the gaps in ducts.... This process is very safe once the polymer cures, but you do not want it to dry in your lungs which happened to me because they did not plug the registers properly. It has been a year and I still have breathing problems and use inhalers regularly. In my opinion Lawson did not train their workers properly to work on HVAC systems . Another big problem was that the one air suction filter box they used was too small for my 2800 ft house. In conclusion i made a HUGE mistake in hiring them ....

This company advertises free estimates, but as soon as they come out, it's 179. I paid too much for…read morea radon fan so that I wouldn't eat the 179 fee per visit. I asked the office what was covered for free per the website, and this was the response: "To clarify, while we do offer free estimates, the $179.00 service fee was disclosed during our initial phone conversation. You had the option to decline the service at that time if you did not agree to the charge. Additionally, had our technician identified any further issues with your system during the visit, a free estimate for that specific repair work would have been provided then." I must have misunderstood during the original call, but beware that free isn't free. Also, the tech called at 915, told me he would arrive between 1015 and 1030 and got there around 1115, outside of my 9-11 service window.

Found James after my 40 year old Onkyo TX 905 had a problem. I love this receiver…read more James checked it out and got it back to working condition which made me very happy. James is a vet and a great guy. Very honorable person. So glad that I met him.

If you have never been to an electronics shop (and seen lab instrumentation, components scattered…read morearound, equipment in the midst of repair, and carcasses of dead electronics being scavenged for parts) you might be put off by the outward appearance of James' shop which is chock-full of all the above. It is a sight that is a bit overwhelming at first and I must admit that, for a moment, I almost considered taking my malfunctioning vintage preamp elsewhere; but the fact is that, in coastal Delaware, there really IS no "elsewhere," so the only other option would be to scrap it or sell it for parts on eBay. After checking out suitable new replacements for my preamp it was pretty obvious that I'd have to spend upwards of $500 to go that route, so I figured I'd give James a try. And I'm glad I did. James is a real gentleman and a disciplined technician. I have a background in engineering and so I have great respect for a talented technician, and James is top-notch. Plus, his Air Force background is an additional confidence boost. Anyway, Janes spent quite a bit of time with me and my preamp, and he meticulously, methodologically went through a systematic troubleshooting process to diagnose and repair my equipment. Some people might take issue with the his $40 non-refundable fee for diagnostic services. But for anyone who has an appreciation for the effort required to troubleshoot electronics, this is a totally legitimate policy. There might be some occasions when diagnosis is a snap, but more often than not my guess is that James spends more time on this phase than he recoups from the diagnostic fee. ---And if you go ahead with the repairs, that fee is applied to the total cost anyway, so you won't lose the investment. Note that, being the only repair guy for miles around means that sometimes his backlog can get a bit high. So you might need some patience. Also, James could be a bit more open in regard to his hourly rate. This would help to make the potential bottom-line price less of a surprise. Still, overall, he's a straight shooter and I think his pricing is fair and reasonable. If you want to buy new and are willing to pay for it then go for it. But if you want to generate less waste and extend the life of your electronics by having it repaired instead (like in the "old days" of the 20th century)then I would highly recommend giving James a try!
