Went to Millstone Creek Orchards to see the Highland baby cows, and apple Orchards. They grow more than just apples, they have blackberry bushes and numerous varieties of apples. They were selling fresh pick strawberries and strawberries, slushy and apple cider slushy's. They also sell ice cream and seasonal mini donuts with icing, right now strawberry donuts were in season. While visiting our daughter, we decided to go apple picking. The day that we went (8/30) was the first day of apple picking season. You have to purchase tickets online (no on-site sales) and it's $18.95 pp which gives you access to the apple orchard, apple tasting, hayride to the orchard, cider pressing demonstration with a fresh cider sample and access to the catch and release fishing pond. They suggest that you bring your own pole and bait. You also get to sample an apple cider slushee which was refreshing after being in the sun picking apples. If you want to pick apples, it's an additional cost based on whether you want a 1/4 peck or 1/2 peck. You have to purchase that when you purchase your event ticket. The apples that they had available were Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Fuji and a really tart apple that's good for baking (I forget the name of the apple). They also have Arkansas Black apples but they weren't ready for picking yet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a great time picking apples. We're from South Florida where you only see apples in the grocery store. Friends and I went to pick apples at Millstone Creek Orchards. We arrived and checked in under the port. We were given samples of a few different apples from the orchard while we were given instructions. We took a 5 minute hayride down to the section of apples that we would be selecting from. I'm not sure if we had come at the end or close to the end of the season but the apples that were available weren't the best. After apple picking, we took the ride back to the entrance where we shopped in the Apple Barn. The cider (non alcoholic) slushie was delicious. My favorite part of my entire time was eating the cider donuts. Made fresh and they melt in your mouth. We also visited the Cider House. They have a small selection of hard cider, other beverages, & a small selection of food. I do wish they had more options for folks that can't have dairy or don't eat pork. This was such a fun experience. Homemade jams, butter, and spreads, along with fresh fruit, dessert, and home decor. The apple cider slushies were fantastic! A mixed experience! We went as a group to the orchard for the pumpkin patch and sunflower picking. The hayride to the sunflowers and grape picking were not the best. The sunflowers were just a small patch and not that tall. The grapes were nice to see but didn't take up much of the time. We basically waited for that portion of the experience to be over because there wasn't much to do. However, the pumpkin patch, Cider House, and Grannies Goodies were really great. We highly enjoyed the old fashioned donuts and apple cider slushes from Grannies and the cider flights from the Cider House. Great to experience for the day, but not sure I would drive the hour to go back! read more

This was our first visit back to the orchard since 2020. We had a great time, so decided to come again during their apple picking. I ordered my tickets online which included a hayride, apple tasting, cider slushy, and a cider demonstration. You also choose your picking size when you order the tickets. The event was well organized with signs. The staff was very helpful. They made some updates and changes which made the experience even better. In the orchard they had a photo opportunity set up as well as pre-picked apples, so you could have a larger variety. The cider demonstration was fun and I enjoyed tasting the freshly made cider. We love their fresh Saturday donuts and the cider slushy sample went well with it. We love visiting with Santa and Mrs. Clause! Everything is well organized and it took us about an hour to do the letters to Santa, visit with the hyland cows, decorate cookies, take pictures with Santa, & visit the new Cider Barn to warm up and get an Apple cider slushie. We we were leaving, we got the Apple cider donuts which both treats were delicious as always! There are some other things you can do as well, but what we did (minus the donuts and slushies) was included in the price. We paid $12.95/person and our 3 year old was free. read more

Absolutely love Millstone Creek Orchard. I've been coming here for over three years now and have taken part of most of the different things available. Keeping in mind that I have small children, I never go with set expectations of how anything is going to be, but I'm always amazed with how things turn out. Their Saturday farmers markets provide a space for many different vendors, but they also have fresh made and local items for sale as well. They carry a neighboring farms strawberries right now, in addition to fresh produce in their Apple Barn. They've got great service within the Apple Barn and around their other eating place that serves up doughnuts on the weekends. The outdoor play area has things for children from tire swings, to a sound area, to a wooden play structure. This is a fantastic place to come for a quick weekend adventure. read more

Too much confusion. After calling the day before to see if they do picking and driving over an hour we arrive and they tell us we needed reservations. I don't know why the lady didn't tell me this when I call. They could have accommodated us I believe. But way to lose a paying customer. Then I decided to buy a peck of peaches and they told me all they had left is what is on the table. Again a lie. After I went tru the peaches left I came back into the store and they refilled the peaches with ones they had in the fridge. The lady at the front checking out people also didn't know anything when asked question. Very disappointing. read more

We came here in Mid October thinking there were apples to be picked (we are originally from NY) however the owner mentioned that the season for apple picking in the south is dramatically different than the one up north. (NY is mid to late October, while down in the south its September.) This was something i was not aware of, but was told by a staff member. A great place for a family outing and picnic. We visited near the end of blackberry season, and the middle of blueberry and peach seasons. Before starting out we were provided great advice for what to look for out in the orchards. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Millstone Creek Orchards is a great place to bring a picnic as they have many picnic tables located in a shady pine grove overlooking a pond. On a hot day it's a great place to cool down and rest from picking in the sunny orchards. We are looking forward to returning. read more

Great pumpkin patch! Found this place by an advertisement on my instagram feed, right when I saw they sold Apple Cider Donuts I was intrigued!! I was able to but a package deal for two people which includes: a hayride, apple cider demonstration, pumpkin cash ($6 towards your pumpkin), apple cider demonstration, pumpkin seed tasting, and a cool experience on the orchard farm! Th pumpkin fields were very nice, they had three different fields to look from instead of just having a bug field which was great. They had a variety of gourds and pumpkins. I believe their pricing was a good deal along with the $6 pumpkin cash we had, I picked out two pumpkins and a couple gourds. The pumpkins were .75/lb and the gourds were 1.75/lb. The apple Cider Donuts came with a sweet frosting. They were delicious and tasted exactly like fall time. The apple cider slushy was perfect after spending time out on the pumpkin field trying to find the perfect pumpkin to take home. It was refreshing and definitely tasted like fresh apples. Drove an hour to this location for a good pumpkin patch and fall treats. On the website section for the U-pick pumpkins, there was no mention that a reservation was required (only mentioned for apple picking). After driving there and paying for a meal, we were turned away for not having a reservation (it was sold out) and not allowed to even step foot in the patch. I understand the importance of reservations but I think it is very deceptive to not have it mentioned on the homepage or even on the page specific to the activity we wanted. This is my third time here. Remembered they sell peaches. Here on a Tuesday and it is pretty warm. Peaches are available to buy but no picking today. Bought and half a bushel $25 and got a second half a bushel free. They look nice. The peaches are firm and will need to ripen for a few days. They don't have the peach smell I thought they would have but will wait and see. Bought 2 pints of blueberries $3.95 each. They taste great. Hope to make some peach pie! Ok, so I am seeing a lot of negative reviews based on the Apple picking but I cannot speak to that. We stopped here on our way to the zoo to kill some time. We got there basically as they were opening up so we were the only ones there. We just went into the store to see if we could get any Christmas gifts for the family. The store is super cute and the staff was really nice to us! It was two ladies working and they were friendly and helpful. The store was filled with local honeys, jams, preserves, and kitchen bowls and cups. Very country aesthetic and cozy feeling. We got some local honey, preserves, and apple cider. They even sell sausage and baked goods inside. Overall we had a good experience here! read more

We returned Nov 2017 and wanted to provide an update. Like many others, we were late in the season and the apples were long gone. It was a pleasant day so we took the hayride, saw the apple press demonstration, sampled some of their apple-related baked goods, and let the kids play. They even had a little scavenger hunt which our kids enjoyed. The staff were very attentive and seemed happy to be there, which is a good sign. On paper, it was a nice visit. In reality, it was a little disappointing. We were all hoping to pick apples and could not find any indication that they were out for the season (on the website, on the tickets, or otherwise). It's true that we were not explicitly told there was going to be apple picking. However, it would have been a nice professional courtesy for the business to be up front about what to expect. As with any business they need to make money (we all do), but our family didn't see the value. The costs did not match the experience and we will likely not return. The main draw for us was to visit an orchard. It seems clear that the owners know the limitations and have made efforts to provide other diversions. The thing is, we don't want other diversions. Most of these non-orchard activities are available much closer to home. We made the trip to experience what we couldn't in the Triangle. The ORCHARD :) If we return, we'll stick to the peak seasonal hours. read more

Some advice for visitors: This is the nearest u-pick orchard to the Triangle, which is my only explanation for why there were so many people at such a small venue, other than perhaps they get NC Zoo visitors too. This isn't a grocery store, and U-Pick farms get unexpectedly 'overpicked.' You can plan a trip, but you must always check their web site and/or call ahead - even when they're advertising 'AppleFest' like it's an event. We arrived Sunday only to find that they'd cancelled the first two hours of picking times due to excessive crowds the day prior. Instead of allowing you to do everything else, like play outside, shop in the store, and maybe wait until 1pm when they opened up again - THEY BARRED THE GATES. We had to drive to Asheboro and eat with the church crowds at Chili's. Dragged out our whole day, and we'd barely been able to get the grandparents from out of town to come with us to begin with. And yes, the lines can be exceptionally long, so you might want to decide ahead of time what you'd like to have, and split up - letting one person watch the kids while another grabs what you want at the counter. Some advice for the business: a) Sell whole caramel apples, vs. slices - offer to slice up if someone wants that. There was a huge line inside, yet at this station not one person was interested, and that was another register that might have been working to reduce lines. b) You have a great business here! Hope for and expect lots of guests and long lines, and plan your customer areas accordingly. We're all in each other's way. Take a look at Hill Ridge Farms and see if some of what they are doing could apply to your operation. c) Be open when you say you're going to be open. It's a long drive for a lot of us. read more

He even stated he "thought they were Mexicans" doesn't matter we're all the human race, no need for that kind of ugliness. Especially when they gave you over $100 in business. Never returning. I usually don't rate places so low and I try to be considerate especially during times like these. But my boyfriend and I went to the orchard this past weekend. I am from New England so fall activities and anything apple related is something I look forward to. We got there and people greeted us in masks outside telling us where to park. There was a lot of open space so luckily they didn't expect us to wear our masks at all times except in the barn, on the hayride, and when social distancing could not be practiced. These are my reasons for the low rating: - Ticket prices for pumpkin picking was a little steep. $15 a person so for two people it was $30. Which is to me a little much for a hayride, pumpkin ticket, and a free mini apple cider slushy at the end. BUT they do give you $3 towards the price you will pay for your pumpkin at the end. Which is really nice. - The line for the baked goods; apple cider donuts, turnovers, and apple cider slushy is very long. - We orders our donuts and they said the wait would be 30 minutes. So we killed time and went back to see if they were ready. It took almost an hour for us to receive the donuts and it was not worth it. - Their donut machine broke while we were waiting and their staff had to do it by hand. For the amount of volume and customers they have I would have expected them to have a second one or a back up. I genuinely felt bad, other customers were asking for refunds. But don't tell customers it will be a half hour wait and then it be twice as long especially in the hot sun. I could have gone to a local farm stand and not driven an hour for an experience that the website and word of mouth said was the place to go.. but unfortunately the experience was not so great and we will not be returning. read more

This is the best cider in the Triad, period. Been there several times -- on the weekends it can be crowded but they have fresh baked apple turnovers which are delicious. Drove from Durham...def not worth the drive. There are no apples to pick, the Apple we tasted didn't have much flavor, the Apple Donuts are tiny and flavorless and expensive for what you get. There's not much to do here unless you want to bring the kids and had the picnic. However the grounds are pretty and they keep it very clean and neat. read more

The place is cute. It has a lot of activities for kids. It would be ideal for a family outing... Except that you are forced to wait in a staggeringly long line in order to ride a hayride that takes you to the orchard. No option to walk to the orchard. You are also limited to ONE peck per family, and charged a steep price per extra pound. We decided to just try and go into the store and purchase some apple products, but the lines for the store were just as crazy! We gave up. ): I think the saddest part is that most of the people there are equally annoyed with it all, giving the overall atmosphere a tense feel. Not what we wanted at all. This was my first time apple-picking in North Carolina and I am hopeful to say it definitely won't be my last. I just am not sure it will be to this particular orchard. I went during their appe festival with my in-laws and we were in a group of at least 20+ people, with the youngest being 3 years old and the eldest in the late 50s. Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience but please be warned, there are quite a few rules that make no sense to me. First off, you cannot go into the orchard without riding the mandatory and pricey hayride to drop you off. Here's the funny thing, ITS NOT EVEN A LONG RIDE. Also, the one basket limit per family (regardless of size) is kind of ridiculous. If it wasn't for the children's play area and the apple cider slushies (literally waited half an hour on line for this) I would not return. The corn hole game is always a classic. Tether ball and climbing hay stacks entertains every age. read more

Visited Millstone Creek this weekend for a day of fun with friends. The orchard is incredibly family-friendly for those with young kids, with plenty of treats and activities to keep them busy. We were disappointed to find the $8 Octoberfest admission that advertised a number of activities online came with many secondary fees, such as having to purchase a bag of marshmallows to participate in the roast, or having to purchase pumpkins. Overall, other than the hayride, pumpkin picking and store, there isn't much for millennials without children. But if you have children, it's great and convenient location to the Triangle. read more

Being one of the only orchards in the area we decided to give it a shot. We were glad we did, but they do nickel and dime you here.. The only thing free is the parking. Don't expect a huge orchard, they have dozens of trees, but not huge so I can see them running out daily before noon (which they do). $3 for the hayride is vicious as it is barely a hayride.. Could do a much better job. You should be able to walk, but they require you to take the hayride, it's maybe 1/4 mile at most to the trees. Prices for the apples aren't terrible, but the prices inside the store are definitely high. Nothing special, and most likely not coming back. read more

Apples are such a part of my childhood and so definitely something I wanted to share with my son. The weather was beautiful and the trees were full of apples. This was the perfect first experience for my family. The staff were helpful and overall the cost was reasonable. We had four in our party and for the hayride and apples we spent the cost of dinner out minus the babysitting fee. We enjoyed the hayride and they came around about every 20 minutes and so by the time we finished there was a tractor waiting for us. Checkup was fast and my son played on the hay and swings for a while after. Try to go early because it was packed by noon. read more

My husband and I love going here to pick pumpkins over any other pumpkin patch. Great pumpkins to choose from and each year there is more variety. The apple cider slushees are amazing! It tastes like apple juice. Love the heavy duty carts they have to carry your pumpkins to the car although I wish they had some heavy duty carts out at the pumpkin patch too to make it easier for families who get a lot of pumpkins and have to leave multiple boxes off to the side until it's time to leave. They have hayrides available which would be a wonderful family outing. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Yes price was a little high but well worth it. They also have some baked items available too. Along with jams , jellies and lots od other stuff too. They have several different seasonal items available through the year. Including apples and several other things. I selected a lemon blueberry loaf cake for my nephews which I know that they will enjoy.
