This place truly has everything--from fresh fruit, candies, jellies, apple butter, and local honey to beautiful plants and more. Every corner you turn, there's something new to discover. It's one of those spots where you can lose track of time just browsing, sampling, and soaking it all in. And let me tell you--the people who work there are just as great as the products they sell. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, they really make the experience even better. If you're ever anywhere near Cana, Virginia, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's a must-visit kind of place!

They recently received vegetables and herbs along with a good selection of outdoor plants. They have a wonderful variety of peppers, several varieties of cabbage and beets. I picked up dill, basil, thyme, leeks, cabbage, and marigolds this trip. They also had wonderful looking lettuce, strawberries (June bearing), eggplant, broccoli, and tomatoes. It's cheaper to purchase an entire flat than individual trays but you can mix and match. I paid $20 for the flat which holds 48 plants. Inside the store you find a great selection of produce. I always buy country ham here. During the summer months I've purchased eggs from local farmers as fresh strawberries and other items. Their prices for bagged compost and garden soil is competitive with big box stores so I must prefer to support a local business. The mulch I purchased here last fall was priced lower than big box stores. I highly recommend Dobson Produce.

What is not so fabulous is service to the customer. Checking out is a disorganized disaster and the older later checking us out has the worst attitude and was very rude and impatient. In addition we paid the delivery charge and then spread the mulch ourselves. Loading each bag off the pallet and then moving them to the natural area is always a huge undertaking. This year we decided to have 8 cubic yards (more than the equivalent of 200 bags) delivered by Farmers Mulch and Rock. They offer a nice variety of mulch to choose from. The mulch was delivered the next day. The driver was very considerate to ensure that he dumped the load exactly where I needed it and was careful to avoid running over my edging and keep the mulch off the grass. Since we live less than 5 miles from the store the delivery was free. I've hired someone to spread it for me this year. The cost of the mulch plus the cost to pay someone to do the job is still a couple of hundred dollars less than if I had purchased it from Lowe's in bags and had it delivered. We've purchased rock from them in the past and our experience with the delivery drivers has always been positive.
