New rule is automatic tip, which seems to have had a negative impact on the service. 15% for one to 5 people and 18% for 6 or more. I usually tip 20-30% to reward good service, but if you don't have to do anything to get 15% why even try. And they didn't!! When we walked in they were making a flavored lemonade. Five minutes later I tried to order one and it "wasn't available ". Tried to order the seafood bread but you can't get that because all of the cooks are brand new. The waitress(thin brunette) was polite and personable. The place could use a good cleaning. Just a bit scudsy. There were 4-5 employees just standing around. Called in a carry out order while in town: 2 cod fish & chips. Their other options were catfish and grouper. I came for the cod (& I always will), my mom said "anything but the catfish, because it's gross." She also requested a side of coleslaw after the ordered was called in. The lovely young lady at the front of the restaurant definitely went above expectations to locate and provide coleslaw. Her customer service was legit top notch. I don't know if she's the same person who took my order, and I'm loathe to call attention to this, but English wasn't her first language. This may/may not be relevant, but back to the food. Back at the hotel, I immediately started questioning the appearance of the fish compared to their cod pics. My first bite tasted like mud. I tore through the filets trying to find edible nibbles. I was so sad, this was the worst cod ever. Meanwhile, my mom LOVED her dinner. At some point, my eye fell on the receipt, which said 2 CATFISH fish & chips. The boiled dinner was fabulous ( only downfall, it doesnt come in bag anymore, in bag it was more flavorful and had more juice). I visited this establishment twice and sad to say i won't be coming back. My first visit was 10/10! The millions sauce was good and the rice the even better! The server with the red hair ( i can't remember her name ) was very kind and provided excellent service ! My second visit was a nightmare. I had an issue with the rice that they were serving. When i got to my hotel room i ate a spoon full of rice and immediately spit it out because it was overcooked. It looked and tasted like it had been sitting in the pot all day . I walked back to the place and ask for some better rice. I received the rice and again it was the same rice . The third time i got fed up and called the manager because at that point I'm walking back and fourth for my hotel room to the restaurant. He said he'll take care of it so i walked back to restaurant and the manager came out with rice and a chocolate cake for the inconvenience. I opened the rice bowl up to see if the rice was fresh and it was literally the same old rice . I told him i came in some days ago and everything was perfect and he said that's because you came during 1ST shift basically blaming it on the different shifts and cooks. That shouldn't be an excuse as to why you can't give me fresh rice. I politely declined the old rice and complimentary cake that he was trying to give me and walked away. Unacceptable.
