We used to visit my husband's grandparents in Ford City every year and whenever we did, we always stopped by Miller's Hoagies. The first time I had one was more than 20 years ago and I loved it. We usually ordered the regular hoagie and I'm not sure what makes it so good, it just tastes great. It's hard to describe. It doesn't look like anything special but there's something different about their hoagies. Since his grandparents passed away, we haven't had many chances to visit Ford City. This time, while visiting our aunt, we decided to drive an hour to go there. Our uncle lives nearby so we stopped to see him and picked up some hoagies to go. Had a steak hoagie after a bike ride, was above average! However, I felt as if I wasn't welcome, the staff wasn't very friendly.

I recommend the food - but, I don't recommend how they do things. I have been going there since I was a teenager (to the original location with the original owner) and today was different. I ordered 2 steak hoagies with the lettuce and the tomatoes on the side. When I called my order in I was told there would be an "upcharge" for that. I have not been told that in the past. So - I was probably charged and not told about it. Which makes sense - because the prices/cost never adds up. When I got there I asked to speak to someone in charge and the young woman at the cash register said she could handle it. She didn't let me finish what I was saying and said they have been charging this for awhile. She then asked if I wanted to speak to someone else. I said "yes". She yelled for her Mom. And she came. She also did not let me speak. She said it was for the "containers". I said "ok". When I got my bagged order - I looked. There were no true "containers". There were paper bags. The increase really isn't the issue. It is really about the lying and tackiness. These paper bags probably cost 2 or 3 cents a piece - so they are making money off of the customers. They are no way considered containers. Neither one of these women let me speak. And, it is not like there products are really that outstanding. It is just that when I am in Kittanning - I go there. Guess what? When you go to the national chain of Subway - and ask for this - they do it without charging you. So, I don't think I will be back for a long time. This put a bad taste in my mouth. If you keep doing this kind of thing - I think you will keep losing old-time customers like me. But, you probably don't care. Not impressed with management. . . you have to let the customer talk!! read more

Miller's is one of my first stops any time I visit my family in Kittanning. I love the tuna hoagie & the cheese balls

Everything here is always just ok. I've been a few times and it's for sure better than sub way but I've never been blown away. The fried apps are probably the best part, they have the good French fries and there's cheddar cheese cubes that are pretty good. I usually get a steak hoagie with lettuce and tomato and the lettuce is kinda wilty and the tomato not super fresh. The steak and bun is usually ok. They also don't have fountain drinks, only bottles. Every time I go in it's not super busy and looks like everything could use a good wipe down. read more

Just tried the super fish, happens to be the hoagie shops best kept secret. 4 pieces of fish on a hoagie bun. However I would have liked a little more lettuce a little more tomato but it was awesome. You really need to try this Hoagie it is definitely one of their best. read more

Usually this place is awesome. Tonight - it was not. I placed an order - the woman on the phone was quite rude. I told them I will be down around 7. At that point she hung up. I pull up at 7pm - and the lights are off and no one is home!!!! One would think she would have told me that they close at 7pm!!!! read more

My daughter and family were in town Illinois yesterday. 7/3/21. After visiting some Friends In Latrobe, they made a quick trip into Ford City and picked up a couple of regular hoagies at Miller's. I went to grade and high school in town in the 60's and 70's and would regularly grab a regular hoagie at Miller's. However in the years since, I rarely got back there.. in 2010 we stopped there in 2019 and the regular hoagies just didn't taste like same. I asked whether something had changed at the shop on a Ford City Facebook page and there was all sorts of chatter and reasons given why the taste of the hoagies fell below the bar. Last year when we went I got a hot sausage hoagie instead. When we ate the hoagies yesterday, except for the hoagie bun being a little bit dry and the paper that they were wrapped in being white instead of the orange colored paper that I recall from my younger days, I am happy to say that the hoagie tasted as I remember. I posted this comment on the same Ford City Facebook page today and the response to it was the taste of the hoagies didn't meet everyone's standards a couple of years ago but now they are like everyone remembers. Make me wonder if the owners had a big drop in business and investigated why. Whatever the reason, kudos to the shop for making the right decision! read more

We usually get regular & steak hoagies and fries a couple times a month. Always pretty good. Been going there for years.

If I could just give no stars I would, Ford City pa Miller's sucks they always mess up the oreder I just spent 56.00 and my older was all wrong and would not do anything about it. Never going to Miller again read more

The hoagies are good and reasonably priced. Lately there has been a bit of decline with the quality. Sometimes the lettuce is old and the onions are bad, but we keep coming back. read more

I don't like to admit my age but I've been going to Miller' Hoagies since they were in the now Spic and Span building by the high school in Ford City (1960's). Best hoagies I've ever ate. I do agree that they have changed over the years, not so much the content of the sandwich but the buns have changed over the years and I'm sure that is simply because they have to go with whatever bakeries are available. I know at one time they used to drive miles and meet the bakery truck half way because of the distance to get the buns they were using...but over the years and the new owners I'm sure as anywhere else they may have had to simplify and get different suppliers for the buns. I have noticed a difference in them over the years, not as good as the original buns but you still won't get a better hoagie anywhere. It's true that people come back home to visit Ford City from all over the United States and one of their first stops is Miller's Hoagies. I myself have hand delivered them (a dozen at a time or more) to relatives out of state on my visits. Prices have gone up but it's not like they are the only ones raising prices so my idea is as long as the hoagie is good and I can afford it believe me I'll be eating Miller's Hoagies. As for their other products besides hoagies most of the products, cheese balls, hamburgers, etc. are the same I'm sure as a lot of restaurants....that's not what they're famous for, it's the hoagies that are their claim to fame. I hope they stay in business as long as I'm around....nothing better than a Miller's Hoagie!!!!! read more
