You walk in and are greeted by the cashier. If you have a question, she'll send you to the "expert" desk in the center of the store. They know their business, they know their products, and most of all, they WANT to help you. No more chasing folks in orange aprons around a football field-sized store. Recently I had my 30-year-old chef knives sharpened by their ReSharp Knife Sharpening Robot...Amazing! They also sell Benjamin Moore paint and will mix small samples as well as gallons while you wait. Oh, and I got a replacement key fob for my car and the expert came out to the parking lot to make sure it was working. It seems to me that one of the employees should assist with that. I complained to the manager and she 100% agreed with me. Update: I visited this HD location last week and it was greatly improved. One employee was very helpful and got a larger dolly cart for me to carry bags of heavy garden soil. Also, the cashier was a bit more engaged than I've experienced in the past. We popped into this True Value…read morehardware store a block or two off of Federal Highway to pick up some household bits (probably made in China, but let's not focus on that!). Very narrow aisles, but they are densely packed with all the tools, bits, bobs, paint, mailboxes, and other stuff you need for your home and your office and anything else where you might want to hit a hammer into a nail. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable. As I mentioned, it's a small shop. Only 8000 square feet, which is dwarfed by the much larger and higher shelved) Home Depot that is usually around 100,000 square feet. But don't let that put you off. These folks know their stuff!
