Great spot if you want a dark dining room and poor service…read more The best part of this restaurant is its creative menu and rotating specials. It is probably the most creative menu in the area, just not the best spot for picky eaters. I found the music in the dining room was strange and very loud. My boyfriend really likes this spot, but it's not one I gravitate towards. I'd say it's an acquired taste kind of spot for both the food and ambience. Regardless, expect slow, inattentive service.

We really enjoy dining at this restaurant with our family and young children. Unfortunately, during…read moreour last few visits, we've experienced a recurring issue with other guests allowing their children to watch videos or play games on devices at a very loud volume. This isn't a criticism of the children themselves, but rather a reminder that parents should be mindful of those around them. The excessive noise can be disruptive and takes away from what is otherwise a great dining experience. A little consideration and courtesy would go a long way in helping everyone enjoy their meal. My suggestion would be to sit nowhere near the counter.

I first tried to pick up dinner at the Piggly Wiggly in town, but unfortunately they were closed. I then drove all the way to Millhome Supper Club, but they were packed and not taking to-go orders. Turning back toward Howards Grove, I decided to stop at Log Cabin -- and it turned out to be the best choice of the night! They had prime rib on Saturday, and I placed a to-go order. Just got home and it's absolutely amazing -- perfectly cooked and flavorful. While waiting at the bar, the customer service was outstanding and the atmosphere was so welcoming. Everyone was so friendly, it really made the experience even better. I would absolutely recommend Log Cabin to anyone in the area. The food, the service, and the vibe all came together perfectly. I'm already planning to go back -- their breakfast menu looks incredible and I can't wait to try it!

Now on to the food. The menu features a fish fry on Fridays, customary in Wisconsin. Perch was offered, and I wish I'd tried it, but I got the battered cod at the recommendation of our lighthearted and smiley server. The fish itself was flakey white cod. The batter was---well, festooned with garlic, and it was that garlic powder that I cannot stand. I know many people love garlic, but I wish restaurants would learn that there are other flavor profiles. At first bite: dang, GARLIC POWDER. The French fries were crispy, and the rye bread was standard fare. The Cole slaw, served in a plastic ramekin, was also decent. 3 pieces, $22. My partner had a pulled pork sandwich and it was "okay." Here is one thing we found odd. If you sub out one side on the menu for another, it's a $5 upcharge. Right! That surprised us also. So if you want a vegetable instead of a potato or vice-versa, it's $5. Want a different kind of potato than what comes with your dish, also $5. Any change to the sides is $5, no matter how lateral the exchange is. For these reasons, it gets three stars, but not any more. Good (enough) food, friendly service, nice enough bar atmosphere with outdoor seating. Change the breading on the fish (and leave out garlic and onion powder!), make sure the soda has enough carbonation, and also allow for more flexibility on sides, and you'd have a five-star spot.

For being a host, he went above and beyond explaining what is on the different menus he handed us. It is rare that nowadays you get more than a hello how are you- from hosts. We had an AMAZING server-her name was Carrissa (on the check) but she has a nickname she goes by instead I think it was Dea or something... She took the time to answer any and all questions we had, told us all about the menu and was EXTREMELY personable. It is not often these days you find a server who enjoys their job. (I work in the service industry as well-so I ALWAYS appreciate finding GOOD servers) We really connected with her and had amazing service! The food wasnt terrible-but not something I would go back for. The brisket was a tad dry and flavorless. The turkey was good. Mac and cheese was horrible. My husband said the peach cobbler was great. All over feel of the place was good, clean and people that worked there all seemed to be friendly.

The menu is jam-packed with delicious options, and our group had a hard time narrowing down our selections! We started by sharing the traditional mild Buffalo wings, burnt ends, and armadillo eggs. The wings were huge, meaty, and packed with an amazing smoked flavor. The burnt ends were incredibly tender, falling apart and practically melting like butter in your mouth. Amazingly, I still had room for the turkey Reuben with waffle fries. It was an interesting twist and a slightly healthier alternative to a traditional Reuben. They also offered a great selection of local beers on tap. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful as we worked our way through the extensive menu. This place isn't that big but seems to fit a nice crowd as it was almost full on a Saturday evening. Last time there was loud music, this time the brewers game was on! ( Go Brewers!) Most seating if not all is at the bar, or at tall table tops. However, we did get the only long table, and fold out chairs, being accommodated and waited on right away. Food came out quick! Saw a few folks come in purely for To-Go orders. I like the maximalist style of this bar, even looking up there was advertising and such on the ceiling. Lots of dart machines, and slot machines and things to look at while you wait. Bartender was also pleasent, and quick to tend to when I went to pay the bill and get a to go box.
