Pros for Winwood are 1) their flexibility with variations of 2-5 half/full day schedules and 2-week payment vs inflexible options of other places 2) Ms Tish is super welcoming and understanding while giving the right level of authority that even my Monkey listens to 3) All the validation to show that my child is cared for, socializing, and having fun (there are daily reports, photos, a video camera access). 4) Covid-conscious - the staff does all necessary protocol and teachers are properly masked. 5) My kiddo is super happy between learning about volcanos and chasing around his besties trio as dinosaurs 6) While we have moved away since but Ms Katie and Ms Nimisha still are at the tip of my kiddo's tongue for being such caring educators. In summary, Ashburn truthfully has a lot of great and affordable child care options (in comparison to where we are now), but we made the best choice with Winwood.

I was a small business owner in Loudoun County for nine years and understand the commitment, dedication, passion, it takes running your own business and can attest to that which exists at Middleburg Academy! In my opinion there is no such thing as"perfect", however I do believe in "excellence" being the best or striving to be the best you can with your mission leading the way. I have found that to be true in both the headmaster Mr. Bell and Mrs. Bell whom also have a student attending classes there. They truly are vested in the school! They have been constantly working to get all prior faculty, administrators, families,etc. on board. It isn't easy to come into any organization with new, different ideas, methods to an existing community. There's generally a combination of resisters, cooperators, and skeptics. It is quite normal to have turnover as a result of "change" depending on how people's willingness to conform or not. You can please some people but rarely all people. In my opinion The Bell's have done an excellent job in incorporating the new while maintaining many traditions that existed before they arrived. Their hearts and efforts are in the "right" place! A place that will continue to evolve, creating openings, possibilities with the focus being on providing our children, their students the best opportunities in life. Much is continuing to develop, as in my opinion should! There isn't just one way to get anywhere, there are many and I'm with them! Unfortunately when some people do not get a response they want, an answer they want to hear, a way they want, they can become resistant, to what is possible... shut down and want to blame someone...the quickest way in modern times is twitter or review sites, yet rarely do people take the time to express their appreciation and the good things. Well things are good here, really good and I appreciate their concern and passion for my kids, all kids that want to be and do their best! Results not excuses! My challenge, if you are looking for an independent school that cares about your child their future, their education, has the guts to challenge them to strive to be their best, will encourage and challenge them to set out to be the difference in the world, a leader amongst leaders with respect, morals and dignity, and you don't mind small class sizes, then please take a look at this school! Additionally if your child likes to play multiple sports and find it difficult, this is another opportunity they can explore at MA. We also hold state championship titles in both Girls Varsity Volleyball 2015 and 2016 with our Coach being Washington Post Coach of the Year, and a basketball state championship in 2015! I knew that my 16 year old son would enjoy the classes but I had no Idea how much he would LOVE them. This summer, he took the Intro to Power Tools teen class with Richard and when I picked him up afterwards he said, "This is what I want to do." He was so excited! He was all in and has since taken Plumbing Basics and Tile & Grout. Thank you Richard and Nicole for building an emotionally safe and educationally engaging space for my teen to explore and grow. I thought this would be a much better way to start learning. Being able to be up close and have someone watch for common mistakes is really much better in getting started. You learn about a lot of different materials. You learn about common pitfalls that happens in the real world. You get to feel the consistency of the thunder, grout, and techniques for laying. You get to use a tile cutter (score and snap and power grinding). It was a unique experience for me. But also an eye opening experience. I was afraid to get started and now I am excited to take more classes until I feel comfortable tackling a project myself. I will be back for the flooring and waterproofing classes.

With our daughter, we researched our options and we selected Fresta Valley. We loved how the youth were empowered to become responsible adults. The students were all comfortable interacting with adults and each other. They look you in the eye and shake your hand. There is a great focus on glorifying God and serving others. There was also a great emphasis on honesty and integrity. She attended the school throughout her high school years. It changed her life. She was thrilled to be in classes were the focus was on learning. She had wonderful teachers and wonderful friends. She often thanks us for making the sacrifice for her to attend Fresta Valley. Had my husband and I known about Fresta Valley earlier, we would have sent all our children there.

I expected more kindness and understanding, but instead, there was a lot of favoritism and unfairness. On top of that, there were several situations where I felt like they handled things really poorly, and that just made me hate going to school even more. The teachers didn't make it any easier either. For example, I told them a whole month in advance that I'd be gone for vacation during the last week of school, but they still said I'd get zeros on assignments I missed. That felt super unfair and like they didn't really care about what the students were going through. It was frustrating because I wanted to do well and be treated fairly, but that just didn't happen. After dealing with all of this for a year and a half, I knew I couldn't stay there anymore. It was disappointing because I really hoped for a positive and supportive environment, but it ended up being the opposite. Looking back, I wish things had been different because no one should have to go through that kind of experience at school. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.
