I had no trouble getting in touch with my instructors, financial aid, career services-anybody really- and I lived on three different continents while I was studying there. I learned a ton through the EET program, and I've already got a great job thanks to my studies and my military experience. I don't live in the Virginia area, but I've never seen anyone raise an eyebrow in a bad way over having ECPI University on my resume. And all this nonsense about it being a for-profit school. I, for one, am GLAD it's a privately-owned for-profit school, because their survival relies solely on the product they put out, and I am really happy with the product I paid for and received. And if you think public schools are there solely as charities and not make money, you're fooling yourselves. If you're looking for a program that will move you through whilst holding your hand every step of the way, maybe you should stick to the government-funded "education" system you grew up with. If you're looking for a degree that will get you in the door anywhere even with no experience, you're going to have to pay a lot more money for it (think Harvard, Yale, Vanderbilt, etc). If you want further your education and build upon your experience, or if you're looking for the missing piece of your resume to get an that position to start your career, this is the place for you. If you're an adult who can handle your own administrative and financial affairs, and you have the drive to learn as much as possible because you love learning, then this is a great place for you.

Misleading at best. $8,712 is YOUR portion of cost beyond what is covered by federal student loans…read more The actual cost is $18,500+ a semester (3 semesters a year, or about $60,000 a year) you WILL be paying this extra back with interest. The 2.5 timeline is also rated off of 21 credit hours on average. So, it will undoubtedly cost you more. If you have never been to college before, most colleges won't even let you enroll in excess of 18 credit hours as the drop-out, burn-out, and failure rate skyrockets after that, and don't make the mistake thinking you can handle it since you were good in high school. This is a totally different beast. Usually everybody has their hands full at 12 credit hours a semester, and from my personal experience, even gifted students start getting in trouble beyond 15. Just their numbers alone put the federal portion at $1500 a month for repayment over the next 20 years. My own numbers add another $700 to that for your portion. My advice... enroll at ASU's fully online ME degree. It is way more affordable, an ACTUAL ME degree (Not an MET) Or better yet find an in-person school that is actually affordable, some DO exist. You deserve better than this. In a scam rating I would with 1 being a total scam and 10 being totally legit, I give this a 3. Avoid. I doubt they would outright lie, but assume they are not being forward with you in any communications. They tried to get me to sign up for student loans without my permission, I was cautious and caught it soon enough, but they were ready to hand me a bill even without enrolling.

Don't give it bad reviews because you weren't able to pass your Math class after taking it 3 times…read more You know who you are. I got my Associates degree from NOVA and just like any other education, what you put in is what you get out. There were times that it was difficult and I had to put in more effort to make the grade but that's the point. Sure the facilities may be somewhat outdated but it's a community college, set your expectations at a reasonable level and you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it. For a community college it's one of true best in the nation, good professors and good accommodations. Not to mention the food in the cafeteria is actually really good at least for the campuses that I attended.

This was my main campus back in 2017-19 when I attended there for my Associates of Science degree…read more Like most others, I attended the school to save money prior to transferring to a four year university and managed to graduate debt-free. I had an extremely satisfactory experience at NVCC in regard to both the courses and faculty. My professors were all wonderful and while some were more exceptional than others, I enjoyed each and every one of those classes. Many of them were available by phone and email outside of class to provide additional assistance upon request. I can't think of a single professor who did not care about their job or the students. Back in 2018, I had a personal circumstance that greatly affected me and my professors were all so kind to me. Many of them spoke to me personally to ensure that I was okay after I opened up about the incident and even provided assistance. They referred me to resources to help me during this period, such as directing me to their emergency grant program and NVCC even paid for a portion of my personal bills. A lot of my professors even discussed options available for me related to the coursework while this happened, since it was during finals week (which wasn't a large issue since I was a diligent student throughout the semester). It was because of their help that I was able to so quickly refocus on my education. They really do care about their students. For most people, as long as you treat them with the respect they deserve then you can expect it to be reciprocated. I was enrolled in the Pathway to the Baccalaureate program which started from 2017 when I was in high school to assist me in the transition. This program wasn't extremely prominent in my student experience there, however, it did provide me with plentiful resources and accessibility to caring staff who helped me transfer upon graduation. I had the pleasure of meeting some very kind advisors who always checked in to assure that I would take transferrable courses and were overall helpful. Of course, if you're looking for a true "college experience" then NVCC might not be for you. Most of the other students are quite average in their personal motivations and don't seem very enthusiastic about their education. A vast majority will only go to campus to attend classes and leave. Like any other school though, you can easily find friends and social groups by participating and taking the initiative. Don't complain about not finding your "group" if you don't put in any effort. Keep in mind, the campus is very small (around three buildings total when I attended), but clean and presentable. Most of the classes were quite small usually featuring around 20-30 students. I will say that parking can be quite difficult during peak times (e.g. when the semester begins), but should suffice if you don't mind a further walk. These weren't problems for me since I was mostly focused on my education and finances. Overall, I immensely enjoyed my experiences at NVCC and would consider attending again for some other programs once I get my Bachelors. As a community college, expect a diverse student body (e.g. age, experiences, background). Be motivated as a student, initiate help with faculty, staff, professors, and you'll do fine. I will say that the experience isn't for everyone. If you want to enjoy being in a sorority, frat, a wide selection of clubs and student life, then maybe it isn't for you. For the serious student looking to save money and enjoy a great resource close to home, you won't find a better place.

Do not go here to get your education! It is a scam that you will not get much out of! There are so…read moremany things wrong with this place where do I even start: 1. The teachers are sort of odd-ball teachers that I have never experienced in my life. They seem to not be very competent regarding the material they teach and they lack passion. The tests are either really confusing and unfair, or so easy it is almost stupid. There is so much material in such a short period of time that you would be lucky to remember 2 things of it. These classes are not being taught properly for sure! People need repetition to be able to learn effectively. The classes are a waste of time. Do not go here if you actually value your education and want to learn. There was one circumstance in which we just sat there for 2 hours and did almost nothing. It was like a waste of time really. The classes make your head spin. 2. The rules oddly changed. An example is the time that we were supposed to be in class. At first, they told us we had a 10 minute grace period, meaning we would not lose any points if we got to class 10 minutes late. Then all of a sudden that changed, and being 2 or 3 minutes late caused you to get points taken from your grade. 3. It is all a bunch of gimmicks. They do not inform you that a C is considered failing for certain degree programs such as LPN, RN, and a few others. Thus, if you fail, which would be like getting a 78, you have to possibly wait 4-5 months to re-take the class and you will owe them more money! Also, I know in the RN program they make it so you have a test at the end of the program and even if you fail the test, and cannot receive your degree, you still owe them the overpriced degree money! These people are going to get all of the money they can out of you no matter what! The RN program does not have a very good graduation rate, one time it only being 8/25 people who graduated! People are paying a lot of money for sub-par education. Someone could get a master's degree for the same cost of an associate's degree. Do not pay that much money for sub-par education. The DON is just in on the scamming people, actually everyone is there and if you have enough perception you can see that. 4. The people that try to get you in are confusing and just make you confused so you will want to continue on so they can ultimately get some of your money no matter what. Do not take what they say that seriously, it is all just gimmicks. They were trained to be like that. Invest in a community college or a university, it will be worth it in the end. Go somewhere where you can actually learn properly. 5. Companies will not want to hire you if you have a degree from this place. Most do not consider the classes real college classes and think that people rush too fast through them. The idea of a fast degree may be nice to hear, but is not really realistic. Do not fall into these sale's people's gimmicks. I am so happy I got out while I could and do not owe any money. I have another degree and have graduated from a university and let me tell you these are not real college classes. This place is screwed up and they need to have more of a conscious about them instead of scamming people into worthless degrees.
